We're in My DH & I ( Mark & Patricia ) from New Jersey will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.
Shh.......I copied this from another thread, looked interesting & had the need to share:

Welcome and thanks for great links. Lots of good reading there!

Anyone watch these? we did in between everything else going on. pretty interesting information about alaska in general. would like a show about the cruise aspect point of viewing now. ;)

sorry all i forgot to get a picture. It was hectic around here and we had friends over and i forgot all about it. i haven't put it away yet so maybe this weekend if i don't get in my multitasking i will try to get a picture before i put it away.

I DVR'd a couple of them but haven't had a chance to watch yet. We also got a couple of DVD's from Netflix. One about the different ports which was cool and Alaska's Inside Passage which we hope to watch this weekend.

The Princess Cruise Line PDF was also great reading and has me thinking already which excursions we want to take.if DCL offers them.

I think usually you have to be under a year out.

when i was checking prices before to see approx cost for us it looked like about a year out depending on the airline. some was less then a year but i am thinking most was at around a year. so probably july of 2010 we should be able to book airlines for july 2011.

I am still debating the flying into seattle vs fly directly into vancouver. even though it would be cheaper to go into seattle and i could go with the airline i want there is a strong part of me that wants to just say pay the extra price and forget about the hassles of timing everything out. :rotfl2: wish it wasnt so far away that we could drive but man 4-5 days of driving each way would kill me. :worship:

Happy turkey day to everyone early. hope everyone gets to have a nice and relaxing day and for those of you shopping the day after.. well you are NUTS :lmao::rotfl:

Side note:

We may be adding two more people to join us on this cruise. :thumbsup2 my dad and stepmom may be joining us.

What was the cost, if you don't mind me asking?
Does anyone know about how many driving hours from Seattle to the port?

I packed our snorkel gear and the kids' goggles. I had the suit case lying on my bedroom floor, and my lovely kitty peed on it!! This is my life on a daily basis . . . (cat is sick so can't get too upset with her - sigh)!!

Jodie

Jodie, it's finally here. You better be packed by now LOL will you be at Castaway Cay for Thanksgiving? Have a great cruise!!! I want a full report when you get back!!! ;)

Does anyone know about how many driving hours from Seattle to Vancouver?

From Detroit,Michigan to Seattle it was around $500 per person round trip and from Detroit to Vancouver it was $800-$900 depending on airline and I think that was round trip as well.

driving time i do believe was around 4 hrs i think. I was debating that as well but with the possible high price for acar rental to drop off in vancouver decided it isnt worth it.

If my dad and stepmom goes we will more then likely fly into seattle rent a car and stay in seattle a few days, amtrak to vancouver, go on cruise and stay in vancouver post cruise a few days before going back into seattle to fly home. just need to determine prices and time schedules now.

We will be on the Wonder for a cruise to the Bahamas on 2/14/2010, but we have also booked the 7/5/2011 cruise to Alaska. My DS will be 9 (1 month from turning 10, so birthday party aboard) and DD will be 5 when we sail to Alaska. Has anyone ever booked a cruise then rebooked it aboard a cruise for the discount and maintained the same room assignment? We booked the last cabin available in the category we wanted, so I do not want to lose it. Regardless of discount or not, I think this cruise will be a cruise to remember for a lifetime!

Yes we are staying at the Hyatt the night before. They said that they have a DCL crew member in the lobby to handle ground transfer, so that sounded like the easiest place to stay. Look for us, I will be the red head with a little blonde cutie (dd) and blue-eyed sweetheart (ds) bouncing off the walls.

Happy New Year Everyone. May 2010 be a great year for everyone.

Happy New Year! We can now say that we'll be sailing to Alaska next year!

Can't Wait, working on gathering the rest of the cousins to join us for a Big Celebration! Hope theres tons for the College Bound group of youngsters.
:teacher:

DD will be graduating from college, but DS is just a year ahead of yours.

Looks like y'all have sailed disney quite a bit. How can I convince my DD that there will be lots of fun for her age group, she'll be 18 at sailing. DS will be 20. He is more the Disney nut than she is.:cheer2:

Planning 10 day vacation: Fly direct into Seattle (non-stop) :hippie: and hang out Sat, Sun in Seattle, then on Monday take 6:30am train from Seattle into Vancouver and stay at hotel near terminal Canada Place for one night, board ship earliest possible boarding on Tuesday :yay:, then fly home from Vancouver the following Tuesday.

There is a college age group on each cruise. Some are more active than others. Be sure to have them go to the first meeting, that is when they meet each other and make plans for the week. There are a few scheduled gatherings, but many times the group just meets somewhere and goes to the nightly entertainment together.

DD has made wonderful friends on cruises. One was on our 2007 Med cruise and was on a subsequent cruise with us and will be on another this summer. They have traveled to visit each other and are quite good friends. A couple of others have met outside the cruise as well, and are making plans to go on future cruises together as well.

At 18, she will be able to do the night time entertainment in the bar area. The cruise staff really tries to get things going, if she is open to it she can have a lot of fun.

Trying to catch up on stuff. DH and I will be on this cruise. It's been a long time dream of his to see Alaska.... but only on Disney!
