July 4 2009....Who'se going?

Jenny,

Quinn will be 10 just before the cruise. Simone is 7 1/2. Actually, this will be their 3rd Disney Cruise...they did their first with just DW and me when they were 5 and 3. They absolutely loved that cruise, and were nervous as your kids are now.

I can understand your excitement, and it will be rewarded with more fun than you can imagine. Just think young and stay loose.....that goes for any cruise. Remember, this is the time for you to discover the relaxed and fun person you thought your daily routine had buried.

This cruise, both daughters, sons-n law, and newest DGS Eli (13 months) are all coming along. Actually, we are convinced that Eli "happened" on the last Disney Cruise....when Marty and Liz were married just a year and we got them their own stateroom (The rest of us were in a suite). Well, maybe we should consider Eli a Disney Production!

Anyway, Jenny, we are just as excited. Looking forward to meeting you. I know Simone will be "up" for meeting other little girls ...so we will all get together on embarkation day.

Hey all...

I haven't been able to focus on the BIG day lately. My son broke his wrist two Friday's ago on his skateboard, and had surgery on it last week so he will most likely still be in a cast for the cruise! Ugh, I guess he can't get it wet? I will ask the Ortho when we get closer to Cruise day. This is his last week of school and the girls have their last week next week so, after that I should be able to give the cruise my FULL attention! I was reminded in an e-mail last night about the cruise and I am getting VERY excited! ::winks at GRFD:: A meet sounds good, we will be there.

Hi Jenny, welcome aboard! It will be exciting meeting you and your family as well as everyone else!

Is anyone else going to WDW after the cruise? My kids are bugging me to go and I'm thinking about it. Just trying to justify the expense, ya know? But... we are moving to Louisiana in August so who knows when we will get back that way again, right? RIGHT! Sounds good anyway.

Have a MAGICAL day! pirate:

Those movies sound great! DD9 will be thrilled to see Jonas Brother in 3D and the new Hannah Montana movie. She has not seen either of those. There are several others we haven't seen, as well.

I'm shocked though that "UP" is not listed. :confused3 We were actually thinking of waiting and hoping they would show it in 3D. Maybe we will have to go see it locally.

My DW and I were hoping either Up or G-Force would be on the ship for us, but alas the CM didn't have any such news. Here's to hoping they make a change to the list prior to our embarkation.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to introduce ourselves. I am traveling with my 8yo DS on the Disney Magic on July 4th. He has never been on a cruise. I was on a 3 day cruise years ago. We live in Florida and are very excited! Are there any others here with kids in the same age group? Any tips you experienced cruisers can offer?

Glad to see another family coming along for the DIS Fun! Good news is there are a few families with kids in your age group. I'll let them speak for themselves :) My DW and I don't have kids yet, perhaps we'll come home with a souvenir... heh..

Check out the FAQ in the cruise line forums, lots of good advice/tips there. Then just lurk in the forums and ask questions both there and here to clarify any confusion you may have.

Thank you, Khazid, for your kind welcome. We are so excited. I was reading about fish extenders. Are we too late to participate in this?

The list sounds like a current list. The main reason I say that is that UP is not on the list. Disney makes a big deal of showing current movies including midnight special showings for the newest one. I think it'll be different by cruise time.

Hi everyone! Things are starting to settle down for us right now. Track season is over for my older boys, and they only have 2 weeks left of school. I'm off work for the summer at the same time the older two get out. Youngest is in "year round" school, so he is not out for summer until the end of June.

I have started doing some of the pre-cruise shopping- new shirts and ties for formal night, new swimsuits/shorts/etc for anyone who's only living off summer "hand me downs. I've also recently lost about 50 pounds, so I've needed a whole new wardrobe. Thank goodness I enjoy the bargains found shopping at thrift shops, "overstock" stores, as well as those unfortunate retail stores in our area that have gone bankrupt.

Also right now we are planning end of year celebrations and middle DS's 13th bday celebration. Plus my grandmother (in her 80s) is going to come stay with us for a couple of weeks before the cruise, so we still have some organization that needs to be done to ready a room for her.

Someone asked about WDW. We're doing it before the cruise instead of after this time. We did WDW after the last cruise, and while we all had a BLAST, we were also all too exhausted by dinner time to do our normal "close the park" routine.

I'll start to look at the excursions this weekend (while basking in the sun by our pool). DH loves to snorkel, so we'll at least have one snorkel excursion.

Have a great Friday everyone!!!

Got a great call from my TA yesterday. DCL upgraded my DW and I from our current Cat 10 to a GTY Cat 7....Let's see, upgrade for $100 or keep the Cat 10....Oh I so splurged. Now let's see if the fairies have a little more dust to bump that 7 into 6 or even a 5!!

Just had to share.

Hope you all are doing well, looking forward to putting faces to nicks at the meet.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!!

Brokermama,

Welcome to the group. DGS is going to be 10 just before the cruise, and DGD is 7.5. Looking forward to meeting you at the get together at 3PM

Vanvmom, you might want to join us in St Martin. Look at www.shoretrips.com and the pirate ship snorkel adventure. also, might want to look at Cribe tours....they also operate tours out of St Martin.

Well, we are getting there....have Palo reservations and even booked some time in the spa. Hope everyone knows that one night is the Pirates in the Caribbean night...so get out your costumes, mates.

Still gethering "stuff" for the FE exchange. Will be in London next week for a wedding.....so will see what we can pick up there...

Khazid.....you will meet MArty and Liz who were newlyweds on last Disney Cruise on the Wonder....and DW and I told them to consider some "creative" gift...and 9 months later....Heeeere's Eli! He will be 13 months and making his first Disney cruise....so....watch out for the pixie dust syndrome.:rotfl2:

Vanvmom/Wendy -- I am just realizing that we both have DS12 :cool1: so I hope we both are able to make the 3 p.m. meet and introduce them.

We have finalized our excursions. . . joining Smeecanada in St. Martin w/ Joyce Prince Tours (there's room for 4 more if anyone else wants to join) . . . doing Trunk Bay/St. John on our own in St. Thomas.

See ya soon . . . 41 days and counting! :dance3:

Where is the meetup at 3 PM?

I noticed on some of the other threads that they had a roll call, names and ages of kids. I think it would be great to have one for ours; I'll go first.

We're going to meet in the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3, mid-ship. 3PM, just enough time to have a small chat before the muster call for the safety drill. Stewart is organizing that part of it.

Stewart I tried to find the excursion you spoke of thru the link, but was having problems finding it. I know we'll do some sort of snorkel in St. Thomas, but don't know where yet.

Hey all,

Wanted to share a bit of information with you. A while back I was looking for Fish Extenders which I found on EBay, and at the same time, I found some embroidered pillowcases for character signatures once on board. I read here on the DIS boards that if you give the pillowcases and some colored sharpies to Guest Services at the beginning of the cruise, they will have all the characters sign them and return them to you completed! Saves time for you having to chase all the characters down and your child has an adorable keepsake from the cruise. Mine are being delivered this week and I can't wait to see them!

If you want to look them up on EBay, the user name is Gradysmommy and she still has auctions for the pillowcases. She also does FE's and I'm pretty sure there is time left but you might want to check, she's busy!
