We are Disney fanatics, but have never been on a cruise, much less a Disney cruise. We are so excited (well, that it is . . DH and I are, because we're still keeping this a secret from the kids)! I've been lurking on these boards for the past month or so gathering info to help us make our final decision.

We booked this 4th of July cruise just two days ago and we can't wait!!

Our crew:
ME
DH
DS 12
DD 8

I can see from reviewing the threads that there are several of you who have kids in the same gender and age group as mine, which is great.

P.S.: I'll talk to DH about FE. I think even DS (12), who is such a tween!, will get into it (no doubt that DD 8 will love it)
:Welcome: :cool1:

Glad to have you aboard. And as Smee already mentioned, ask any question you can think of. If we can answer it, it will be done :)

Just a reminder. The deadline to join the FE Exchange group is Friday 5/1/09.

Here is participating so far:

Khazid - 1 stateroom - 2 cruisers
StewieL - 2 staterooms - 9 cruisers
dcpatty - 1 stateroom - 4 cruisers
Meemous - 2 staterooms - 5 cruisers
Smeecanada - 1 stateroom - 4 cruisers

Meemouse, FIRST . . . I am so sorry for your loss. I have a good friend who lost her husband very suddenly, just under a year ago, and I know how tough it has been for her. SECOND . . . congrats for taking this cruise in his memory. THIRD . . . You have DS11 and DD 9 and I have DS 12 and DD 8 so they might all get along quite well; we'll have to try to meet. THIRD . .. where in "the New Orleans area" are you relocating, because we live just north of New Orleans in Mandeville.

P.S: I am just realizing that my countdown nametag is HUGE! I'll have to fix that!

Hey there, good to meet you! Thank you for your condolences. Yes we are relocating to... *drumroll* Mandeville! We lived there from 1997-2005 and did a company transfer to the Atlanta area. I am taking my kids back to Mandeville because we loved it there and it is home to us (even though I was born in south Florida, I consider Mandeville HOME!) I'm sooo... excited! Can't wait to meet you, I alredy bought a home in the Forest Park subdivision and we move August 1st. Kids will be going to Tchefuncte Middle and Mandeville Jr. High. What a small world, maybe we already KNOW you?! :rotfl:

We got all of our passports today! I paid the cruise in full on 4/20 and am going to pay the gratuities in advance today (one less thing to worry about) and all the kids have their formal wear/semi formal wear and pirate costumes ready! It will be here before we know it.

Stay safe all...

OMG . . . Mandeville!!! It is a small world after all!!! (ok, I know that sounds corny but I could not resist.

Meemouse, I am going to send you a PM so check your Private Messages later. We definitely need to talk about this in more detail.

I so look forward to meeting you!

Have any of you been on the Eastern cruise before? I know some of you have posted your excursions.

We are considering the St. John Trunk Bay Beach and Snorkel. I have heard so many things about the beauty of Trunk Bay that I don't think we can resist. I know that many go to Trunk Bay on their own, but, as this is our first cruise ever and Trunk Bay is quite a journey, we're a bit nervous about the possibility of missing the boat.

For St. Maarten, we are thinking about doing something on our own . . . maybe one of the beaches . . I'm not so sure about our DS12 and Orient Beach; he'd either love it or feel completely uncomfortable by the nudity (or maybe both!) So, we're thinking Dawn or Le Galion. . . we are even considering just doing Great Bay Beach and them some shopping.

I was just wondering what the rest of you are choosing and if you have any suggestions.

Hey hey!! Krazy Khazid here :P

I promise this will be the last you hear on the FE Exchange subject for at least a month (HA!).

Registration is now closed. Here is the final list of participants that I have record of. If you have wanted to participate and do not see your name here I need your info ASAP. You can send it via PM, or directly to my e-mail at khazid@hotmail.com

Khazid - 1 stateroom
StewieL - 2 staterooms
dcpatty - 1 stateroom
Meemous - 2 staterooms
Smeecanada - 1 stateroom
GettinReadyforDisney - 1 stateroom

OK...that's all, you can return back to your regularly scheduled thread :P

Hi everyone! Our family may be joining you as well. I have my deposit down anyhow. We just have to see if we can save enough by the PIF date!

My birthday will be the week of this cruise (and I'm not telling which one!)...it will be me, DH, and DD (7).

Looking forward to getting to know all of you in the coming months :goodvibes

I am sure there will be lots of kids in the college ages, but from what I've seen so far, there aren't many (if any) that are DIS families as well.

Hello all,

I was thinking that we should try andarrange a get together on embarkation day. What about 3PM at the Promenade Lounge on deck 3? This way we can get to meet each other. Let me know your thoughts.

Stewart

Meet sounds great. If the Promenade Lounge doesn't work - what about somewhere on Deck 10?

Hello ,

We have been a a couple of DIS meets before, and they were at the Promenade Lounge. Of course, if everyone knows a place on deck 10 that's better, then we can meet there. Ideas????

If no other ideas....we should plan a meet at 3PM....if other time is better, let's discuss.

We will be at the Beach Club Villas On July 1st for a few days of DW....we are members of DVC for last 6 years. Anyone else in the vicinity? Going to do a water slide park on Weds the 1st. DW will stay at pool with DGS (will be 13 mos) because she knows that other DGS (10) will make her do the fastest and steepest water slide if she sets foot in the water park. He had her on Rock N Roller Coaster 3 times last year!

Meet sounds great, and considering the time I would think Promenade Lounge would be best. Deck 10 might be a little hard considering the drill is at 4pm and the sail away party just after that.

Either way I'm good.

The DW and I will be at the World from 6/27-7/3 with some members of our family that aren't joining us on the cruise. If my itinerary serves me right, we'll be at downtown disney on the 3rd after the brother and law and his family drive back to the base (he's in the navy).

We'll fly into MCO & arrive at WDW on the night of the 2nd. We're doing Epcot with one of the families cruising with us on the 3rd, then we'll head over to spend the night at the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral the night before the cruise.

We're up for a meet . . . Since we are first-timers, we leave the where and when to the rest of you!!

We are arriving on July 3rd and staying at the Raddisson at the Port.

Wendy -- have you received my emails regarding my communication with Joyce Prince? I know that several of my emails to you were returned as undeliverable. Whenever that happened, I resent them, but was uncertain whether you received them. Let me know and, if you didn't get them, I can send them in a p.m. here, instead.

I just wanted to introduce myself. We will be sailing, on DCL, for the first time! We can't wait...I think I'm more excited than the kids. :yay:

Here's who's going:

Me - Jenn
DH- Jeff
DD1 - Peyton - 6 but turning 7 on the cruise
DD2 - Lindsey - 4

Pull up a chair and enjoy! If you have any questions be sure to ask. My DW and I have sailed with DCL before (as have some of the other lurkers in our meet thread). The forums are a great resource for first trip planning, I give a big two thumbs up to the FAQ:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

See you on the ship in not so long a time!

Now...back to my own planning :P

My DD(age 19 and I are sailing the Magic on July 4....just wondering how many other college age kids will be aboard?:)
Just saw the following in another thread today and thought you might like the info :)

"There is a college group for the 18-21 set. ON the Magic, they had daily activities--the idea was to get them to meet each other and then they could set up their own fun. In addition, 18s can participate in all adult activities except drinking and all family activities."

So even if this group doesn't have a lot of college age, it looks like there is a daily set of activies for your DD. I would suggest pulling up some recent navigators that have been posted and see if you can't peruse them for an idea of what to expect :goodvibes

Hello all,

Well, we just spent a couple of days getting some of the gifts for the fe PROGRAM. OK....so maybe we went a little crazy. :yay: We had too much fun getting these little things, so I guess there'll be a couple of days of FE gift giving for my DGS and DGD. They really love this anyway.:cheer2:

For St. Martin, just booked a Pirate Ship snorkel adventure. Anyone else see this. It's not on the excursions from the ship, but another vendor on St. Martin. Will be going with DGS and DGD and DD and DSIL, and DW. Pretty reasonable, since they feed you a BBQ lunch.

Will probably head over to Marigot or to the beach with the clan after this. (Excursion from 8:30 till about noon)

St Thomas, we are getting cabs and going over to Coral World...will spend much of the day there. some are swimming with seas lions, and others are doing Sea Trek. DW and I will watch Eli (DGS age 13 mos) while others indulge.

Cruise meet still for 3PM at Promenade lounge on deck 3. Let's all try to meet at least this one time. Who knows, maybe we can get some dancing in while we meet :dance3:

Getting close.

I think this would be fabulous!! How old are your grandkids? This will be our first cruise and we (well, mainly ME!) are so excited. Actually, my 2 DD's (4 and 6) are telling me that they're scared of staying on a boat but I think once they get on, they'll be in Heaven!
