July 4 2009....Who'se going?

Hey July 4th Cruisers.!

Myself, my GF and another married couple all in our mid to late 20s are cruising together. We booked this last minute and have only done the Wonder before....the other couple will be having their first cruise.

Is there anyone out there who will be doing the Kayak Eco tour at either Thomas or John and/or the Zipline adventure in St. Martin.

I know that Disney offers the Kayak Eco tour on St Thomas, but thought it would be great to do that over at St John and see more untouched beauty ....we're up for anything but shopping....we can shop anywhere.

So...please feel free to open up thoughts and conversation on adventerous excursions :)
:welcome: Woot, more people to hang out with. I'll just post another shameless plug for the DIS Meet at 3pm on embarkation day in the Promenade lounge. Hope to see you and all your group there.

I made some posts earlier in this thread on the excursions the DW and I will be doing. I know StewieL has a group in I believe St. Maarten, though I'm too lazy right now to scroll back and confirm that. :lmao:

Not sure about the excursions you've posted, I've not done the Eastern trip yet.

Have fun planning your trip out!

Well, welcome to all the Lousiana folks! yes, gettinreadyfordisney and I are from there as well, (I will be moving back there in August). I personally am so very excited to see all the Louisiana folks!

Smee, your family and ours are staying in the same hotel the night before we set sail! I hope we can meet and get the girls (13 as they may be) together. It's SUCH a hard age to please!

We received our documents this week, but I do have some questions... Well our docs included the Disney Cruise info and criteria and such, but when do we get our land excursion tickets? Those were NOT included in our documentation? Do we get them when we board or... just show up? Some sort of roll call on that day? I'm confused.

Your land excursions tickets will be in your room the first day. The tickets will tell you where to meet.

Thanks for the great welcome! Yeah, I scrolled back....I'm unfortunately finding it hard to find info and reviews from couples not travelling as families and therefore looking for stuff that kids can do as well.

How about reserving sail boats, cats, and stuff on Castaway...is that possible to reserve early? I know that floaties and tubes can....

Welcome to everyone just joining the thread! :dance3:

One of the families cruising with our group got their docs today, & my docs as well as those for the 3rd family in our group are at my TA's office waiting for me to pick them up on Friday.:banana::banana:

We'll be finalizing our excursions on Thursday evening when my oldest DS comes home from camping, which will satisfy some of my planning needs. Did I mention that this is all happening very soon & normally I am MUCH more organized than I currently am.

We also did some confirming with United Airlines regarding all of our flights. DH flies home from a business trip to China on July 1st to meet up with 7 of our group to fly to FL on the 2nd. All travel is on United, so we had to confirm that if there is an unanticipated airline event that delays his China flight home that United would still assure that he could get to FL even if he misses the flight he and the rest of us are booked for. :headache: I really wish his trip was not booked the way it is, but work is allowing him the time off for our trip, so we sort of have to be flexible-the position DH has really does require that most of his work be done in China. And after all, without the job... we couldn't be doing the cruise in the first place. :goodvibes

I meet with my principal on Tuesday to see if my position will be funded or not this next school year. If not, then I may be relying on substitute teaching positions again. :teacher:

Sleigh, thanks for the info on the excursion tickets.

I have another question about the DOCS that I'm hoping someone could answer. We have two staterooms for 5 people (short story, my 24yo DS's girlfriend and her two little ones were coming with us on the cruise when we booked but they broke up and we kept the second stateroom hoping they would reunite).

We received the DOCS for both staterooms but the docs for my son's room is thick with a lot of pages and the luggage tags, while the docs for the girl's stateroom is minimal with about 5 pages and the luggage tags. There is a page that says 'cruise and airline contracts' and then no pages follow after that with the contract information such as they do in the boy's docs. Is this something I should be worried about?

Go online and start filling everything out - then see if you are missing something. We've just done everything online and printed out the required sheets and taken them to Port for our last two cruises.

As long as you have everyone's names correct on the DCL docs thatcame and the required number of cabins/beds - I won't be too concerned. Anyone else's thoughts???

I think this is the quietest cruise thread I have ever seen - wow :confused3

You're right, pretty quiet. I thought it might get a little busier as the departure date drew nearer, alas, I wasn't exactly right. HA!

Hope everyone is well and that your planning is going smoothly.

I'm working on door magnets right now and the DW is finishing up the last of the FE gifts she was making (most of our gifts are home-made). Don't ask for spoilers! :P

Picked my docs up from my TA on Friday, already done the online checkin so we just needed the transfer tickets and our AAA OBC form from it.

Departure day for us is 6/27...so close....wish it would get here already!!:yay::yay::yay:

Got our dox!! :woohoo: Now I need to finish up the online docs for printing.

My daughter has a dance competition out of town the week before we leave. When we get back from that, we'll have just one day to regroup before we leave for this cruise. :scared1:

So, we are starting to gather things to take with us and my house is a wreck with all of these stacks of cruise stuff. In fact, I'm getting concerned about just how much luggage it's going to take to pack all of this up.

How many suitcases per person do you usually bring?

One suitcase and one carryone per person for the DW and myself. I try to pack as little as possible and have worked on a packing list that works well for us over several years of travelling. I use the same philosophy is Smeecanada. Leave room for those souvenirs! :)

Hello everyone,

First, to Vanmom (sent PM to you as well) and anyone else. The Pirate ship snorkel in St. Marten is at www.shoretrips.com. Once there, clck the Caribbean shore trips (on the left) then click St. Marten. It's there....and others as well.

There will be a meet at 3PM on Promedae deck at the Promenade Lounge. I will call Concierge services tomorrow to see what we can arrange. We will get there early (few minutes) and reserve a few tbles next to the bar and are looking forward to meeting all DIS folks.

Just a hint...if you are a snorkeler and have your own mask and snorkel, suggest you bring. DW and I are divers, so we have our own, and your own equipment is usually better than what they provide. If no stuff of your own, the "stuff" they provide is fine.

I am bringing my Pirate costume..pirate:...hope there will be others who are ready for the fun night of dressing up.

We will be at WDW starting July 1st at Beach Club Villas. Anyone else?? Plan on getting to Dock just before noon......so we can get on board and have some fun.:yay:

Can't believe it's almost here. When I see the stack of work I have to get done before I leave.....oh well.

Will post more info after I speak with Concierge Services.

StewieL!! Good to see ya. How was the trip to London?

The DW and I have our costumes and will be dressed up.

We arrive in Orlando on the 27th. Holy heck that is quick, only 9 more days. We're staying off property and will be hitting all the theme parks in the area taking just the 3rd off before going to the port on Saturday.

See you all soon!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi, we are a family of 3 and we just booked the July 4 cruise last minute! We are Connie (me), Chuck (DH) and Patrick (DS). We will be in a wheelchair accessible stateroom on deck 6.

Hope to come to the DIS party on sail day. We always try to get to the port about noon, too. More time on the ship!

We are bringing our Rummy Cube game and our Mexican Train Dominoes.

Does anybody play? We could set up a time in Diversions on a day at sea to play games, if anyone is interested.

Let me know....we will have a fish extender and a message notebook hanging on our fish....with our names on it. You'll find us for sure!

Not going to do much in St. Maarten, just a little shopping. St. Thomas going to do the Sea Trek Helmet dive at Coral World. I am a big fan of anything under water, and this is the biggest thing I could convince the DW to do with me. If I could get myself motivated enough, I'd get my open water PADI cert and do a dive, but perhaps next trip :)
:)

Oh, I hope there are still some spaces left for that one too. I have always wanted to do it. Connie

:welcome: Another DIS'r. WOOT!!

The DW and I have played Mexican Train with her Gramsbear, so count us in on the fun. I haven't played rummy of any type in quite some time.

I just logged into my reservation on DCL's website (11:25am pst). There are still spots availabe for the Sea Trek dive, but the tours of Coral World are booked. The benefit to the Sea Trek (at least according to the desc) is that you after you are done with the main part of the excursion you get some free time at Coral World for departing. In all, you still have time to book it :)

Hi Connie,

Nice to see another Floridian coming on the cruise! We are in S. Florida. I love Rummy Cube but have never played Mexican Dominoes. How old is your son? Mine's 8 and I'm hoping there will be other boys around his age on the cruise. We're on deck 5. Hope to see you on board!
