Hey all - just checking in to say hi and to ask a question - Does anyone know when we can start booking excursions? I thought it was at the 90 day mark am I wrong?

Getting all excited as I spoked with DD's teacher yesterday (she's a nun) and she recommended that we do any tour (in Rome) that hits the Sistene Chapel and Museum instead of the Exclusive Behind the Scenes Tour - now I know that may not discourage me as that one also hits these two. LOL - she did reinforce the notion that we should not go in there inappropriatedly dressed as they will frown upon you - but she said that she went before the refurbishment and her friend told her to shut her mouth as the flies might go in there - according to her - its unbelievable - on another note - she wants to know if she can stow away in our luggage! AND WHO SAID NUNS DON'T HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR! :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok - on the other front - looks like I talked oldest DD (20) and her friend to hit one of the other Vatican Tours so it looks like I may end up covering 2 tours on that one. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

OK - will check back later!

oh! Just found out that one of our past parish priest in doing an internship of 2 years at the Vatican - on my way to the parish to get his e-mail address - wouldn't it be cool if I could schedule a visit with him? :)

Oh well - I can dream can't I? All this talk about the Vatican and all has me so excited - DH says that I can take the Exclusive Behind the scenes tour - but with the cost - seriously considering only taking it myself - is anyone else thinking of doing it? Would love to have a buddy to walk with. Let me know -or post - I do check in periodically - probably more as we get closer.

Also, so excited that I just went out and bought Angels and Demons even though I already read it - bought it on audiobook this time so that DD and her friend can enjoy maybe visualize and get excited about actually visiting - anyone else having trouble getting their kids to go on these tours? Are mine just weird? Youngest DD (14) wants to go - but she gets tired easily and 12 hrs is a long time to stand and walk!

OK - posted to bump us up - next?

Hi all,

Just found a really good street map of barcelona -thought I'd share

http://www.bcn.es/guia/welcomea.htm

good night
:goodvibes

Hey cool - this one is free - I went out to Borders and bought one called "Streetwide Barcelona" - its cool but I had to pay $7.95 for it. Its laminated and gives the names of the streets and the whole surrounding area - I can see the Port Vell on it. Its also made me decide to stay in the Gothic Center or Mid ramblas as they are less than 1 km (.5 mile) from the port - the hotels that Disney contracted with seem to be on the outskirts of the center. I'm having 3 'young adults' with me that I'm worried about keeping entertained so as not to fight with each other. I'm seriously hoping that some serious jetlag will hit them and make them sleep magically until the night of the 28th however, seriously doubt that - anyone else?

Nice to have a friend who works for the company. Maybe he can get you "backstage". Even more important, ask him the good places to eat!

Wow, MJ, that was quite a post back a few posts ago I haven't been reading my books too much but.........I still recommend the Passport 5th edition....it's pretty good!!:rotfl:

Yes, Andrew.........we are really getting close now........

We're not staying over in Barcelona, but I'm thinking, walking tour near port and possible beach experience.....still thinking about Rome.........I think the Spanish steps and I'm not sure what else.....I have always dreamed of visiting the Colosseam (can't spell it!)......I have a lot of work to do!!!

We're getting so enthusiastic.......love it!!!!!!!!:dance3:

Just found out today that one of the Spanish teachers at my school used to live in Barcelona! Can't wait for some information about restaurants and things like that, which I'll share when I get it.

Hi all,
Been away from the boards for about a week. I work in media relations for a university and our men's basketball team won the National Championship at our level (obviously not NCAA) this week. :cheer2: So, it's been a little crazy dealing with reporters and such -- but a good crazy!

Anyway, we've made progress. Passports are ordered and booking hotel this weekend. Haven't received any guides from DCL about excursions so I am tramping my way through the DCL website for now Arggh! Need to glean more information from you experts about which DCL excursions to consider vs. private tours.

As I have been out of the loop please remind me if I owe anyone a PM to penpal with my DD15 and DD7.
