And as for Pirate night....our whole family really enjoy going to the Ren Faires around here (Nor Cal, SoCal, Tahoe, and all the little ones in between). So we have quite the 'done up' pirate outfits. So when you say 'many "dress up" for the occasion with "wench" outfits, and pirate attire.' just how far do people go? I'm only asking because when I read your post to my DH last night, the first thing he said was "Should we bring the red suitcase?" Which refers to our Ren outfits.[/QUOTE]

Hello, my experience is limited........ have only been on one cruise and proberly about 40% of people were dressed up, this ranged from pirate head scarfs, to hats and swords to the full get up.
Wear what ever you feel comfortable in- you def won't look out of place in the full gear!:goodvibes

In my experiance nearly everyone dresses up, DCL even give you stuff in the evening meal. Bring what you want you will not feel out of place.

Seriously, it's more fun to get dressed up and "into it!"...........Mom & Dad are now onboard...........brace yourselves everyone.................

Formal night is whatever you want it to be (as long as you don't underdress too much) You can always go to the buffet at Topsiders Buffet but I have a hunch that on the Med cruise, people will take the Formal night more seriously......

Do want you want...........it's your vacation!!!!

All right - its been a while since I've posted here and really am just curious - how many people from the US plan on dressing up for pirate night? I'm curious as I just bought some pirate costumes for DH, myself and DD's but am concerned about taking them along for only 1 night since luggage is a problem. Anyone else consider this problem too?

I know on our last trip one of our tablemates was from the UK - (not you Andrew - LOL - BTW - fancy meeting you here :rotfl: ) and although they didn't dress up - they were able to blend in well by using just simple pirate like clothes that doubled for casual clothes. I was totally :scared1: to find out that they only traveled with 1 suitcase and under 44# - in my wildest dreams would I never be able to do that.

Anyone else in this predicament? Just curious and sorry if this has been discussed before -I've been a naughty girl and have been away for so long! Sorry!

We are from the US. We do not plan on dressing up for Pirate night. We also did not do this for the Mexican Rivera cruise in 05. We did wear the bandanas that were given to us. (We found 50/50 dressed up).

I would have no problem dressing for it. I have a habit of taking the whole house with me when I pack (as well as one of my sons) and I don't want to bring/worry extra garments if I absolutely don't need to.

I am really more worried and concerned about the formal and semi-formal nights. We have done three cruises with DCL and always dress up which we absolutely enjoy. I even suggested to my dh that perhaps dh and dss should rent tuxedos for this one and he thinks it's no problem/big deal to carry a garment bag.

Can we carry a garment bag for International flights? I hope so. It's difficult to worry about evening wear for 11 nights and resort/casual wear for 11/12 days when we might be limited to weight, etc. (I might have to learn to recycle some of my wardrobe

I think we need to check with Continental before making any final decisions.

I was reading all the info about the hotels, we booked through Disney at the Husa L'Illa, 748 for two nights. One prior, one post. Plus the 84 transfer for each of us. Starting to wonder if I should book the transfer or just do my own transportation. Not sure, but with what we are spending on getting there, and everything else, seems like I want as worry free as possible trip. So what's another $350? Also considering cancelling and rebooking myself, online seems so much cheaper. Even when i convert Euro to USD. Did anyone find out if we could book our own hotel, and use the Disney transfer? I read a post where someone thought Disney might not allow that.

I'm getting pretty nervous, applied for passports for my 3 boys (9, 12, and DH) and the US website keeps changing the date that they should arrive. Now it's scheduled for the 12th.

When should we see the books on the cruises? We booked through DVC, and it seems somewhat backward anytime we have questions. DCL wont answer them, I have to call DVC, and then get this - I'm put on HOLD while DVC calls DCL to ask my question. Took 1.5 hours just to book my hotel room.

Finally booked our air on BA. Decided to fly in the day before, and not leave until the day after. That way we not only get to see Barcelona, but we don't have to worry about cutting it close. I know it will be a long lay-over, but I booked flights with 4 hours in London. But hey - we'll have our HP books to read :) I'm really hoping that one of the bookstores at Heathrow will sell the adult cover editions, that way i don't have to pay for shipping.

I have some questions for you repeat cruisers. When looking at the map, what do the asterisks mean next to the aft staterooms? And, we are in a cat 6, which says some sleep 3 some sleep 4. Is there any way of knowing if your room sleeps 3 or 4? I tried to find out on the stateroom reports, but wasn't that successful. I just hope that they wouldn't book us into a room where the boys had to share a twin bed.

Hi, I think I can help with most of your questions.

We are at the same hotel you are, but we are 2 nights post cruise. I researched online and for the small savings to book on my own...I descided to stay with Disney. They will have tables set up in each hotel that will help with questoins...problems....I just decided this is best for my family.

My TA said YES you can book your own hotel and still use Disney Transportation. As a matter of fact my DS18 is doing that. We have no hotel room booked on his stateroom, but he will get the transfer.

I am a little confused.....you say the transfer is 84 is that DVC points? We paid $59 for the transfer which is 3 trips ... from the airport to the ship.....from the ship to the hotel.....from the hotel back to the airport....

I don't think I can save much $$$$ over that.

I am getting a little nervous about passports as well. WE applied on FEB 14th for 3 passports (Me and 2 DD) My DH and DS already have them. The checks cashed yesterday. I looked online at my bank statement. So I thought, I will go online to the State Dept Website and see if it gives me a date. When I searched it said "NO APPLICATION FOUND" haven't decided it I should FREAKOUT or not yet :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I called a little while ago on the books and they said the first of March. I don't understand because I know some have gotten them. I went to www.passporter.com and bought the newest edition, which includes a lot about the MED. They gave me a download for the MED part of the book. If ANYONE wants me to e-mail it to them, send me a PM. It is about 100 pages long and really very good.

We fly in the day of and out 2 days later....please pray for us......

If there are 4 of you.....then they HAVE to give you a room for 4....one twin will come out of the ceiling....and the couch "rolls over". You can alwasy call the 800 # on the www.disneycruise.com and ask...they will assure you right away.

Hello to my 3 cruise friend!!

We are not dressing up for pitate night. We have always found we have as much fun putting on the DCL bandana and eyepatch.....

I will be packing light.....

We will also not be totally dressing up for formal night...my guess is we will be exhausted from all the sightseeing.

I always overpack! It will be quite a challenge this year to limit myself. The pirate garb I usually bring is black capris and a black and white striped shirt. Then I add an eye patch, some long necklaces and flashy earrings........it's not too much space. My DH has a "Dead Men Tell No Tales" TShirt and he wears jeans............

Thx for the suggestion about the Passporter, I just ordered mine too!

:cutie: ok my US friends you all have to stop stressing about luggage....My husband and I have managed 3 DCL cruise with pre and post stays in WDW DL and touring FL and Cal. We bring 1 item of hand luggage each, plus a medium suitcase each...we always do formal and semi formal the whole hog..(we do rent Keith's Tuxs and they turn up in our stateroom never had a problem), we have also dressed up fully for pirate night on the last two cruises!! It really can be done I have used the washing machines on the last two cruises but only once each holiday. You can do it, you're just not used to the limit and prioritising, we even have room for souvenirs, please stop fretting, you really don't need too many clothes lying on a sun bed and sightseeing summer clothes can be very simple lots of layering and mix and match is the trick. When we drive places I know how easy it is to just throw things in the car just in case, just remember you're not travelling to a remote third world country if you really feel you haven't got something you need there are shops.:thumbsup2 :grouphug:

But Lynn (let me know if that's not your name and sorry) you don't understand -its the clothes that I can mix and match but .....ahem...THE SHOES!!!! :scared1: How do you all do it - DH says the same thing - take old throwaway clothes and leave behind, or simply go shopping there :thumbsup2 but for some reason - he just doesn't understand about the shoes!1  My next major endeavor? How to make a male understand that we want to have all these shoes - their a NECESSITY!!!!! The mere thought of not having a different shoe for each makes me want to :faint: :lmao: :lmao: Just kidding - I will have to do - and like DH said - their always shops!

Hi there - I made a promise to myself to check back once or twice a week even if its just for 5 minutes! My kids say I have no life - just a DIS life! :sad2:

I know, I know :sad2: :guilty:

I do laundry almost daily on the ship too and do use some of the clothes over again - yet - half of what I bring, I don't even use. My dd and I also bring a ton of sandals, shoes, sneakers, etc. It's so silly - we don't use/need half of them. There are always a few things I like/prefer and do wear them more than once. I am determined this time.

Hello everyone.... :yay: We (My wife and I ) plan to join you folks for the July 28

We are the "rent's" that JoAnn lawall refers to ...:confused3 We are looking forward to the cruise, being with the grandaughters, JoAnn and Ken..and of course meeting you folks:grouphug:

Welcome, we look forward to meeting you.

Firstly good weekend to all.

Secondally when we go to USA we often go for three weeks and have to juggle clothes for a familiy of four, usually there is a laundry day to catch up.

Dear Laura
Yes my name is Lynn, I do understand your problem my husband would wear one pair of black trainers to every function if I let him!!! He doen't understand my problem at all, however I promise we did change shoes and didn't wear beach shoes on formal night, I do have a new problem now , I've fallen in love with crocs and want to bring all my pairs with me:rotfl: :confused3

Well, we won't dress up for pirate night, but I will talk like a pirate during dinner, if that be a help. Arggh.

:wave2: everyone!

Checking in as promised - Andrew - 138! :scared1: :faint:

Lynn - Crocs are the best! :thumbsup2 I started out with one and ended up with Lime green, beige, black Mary Janes, Army Green Mary Janes, baby pink, white and black. My DS told me that the CMs at DL make fun of the "old people" that wear them but then about 2 months later - I caught him wearing them out to the car at night and somehow, don't know how, but one pair has disappeared although I did find the straps discarded on the floor one day! :lmao: Left a message for him on his cell phone calling him an old fart!!

We are getting nervous as well but thank God I had my passports already! Just need to worry about where we're staying - it was almost all settled and then DH threw a monkey wrench into play by buying into DVC, (wonder if the fact that some hotels don't have a bathroom in the rooms have anything to do with that? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: )

Oh well, had to post to bump us up - Good day all and hope you all remembered to turn your clocks forward!

Received our med packets yesterday. Nice, cute and neat :goodvibes but disappointing tha we can see/get more info. on-line as far as the excursions go. No times, no ideas if more than one of the same offered, etc. Just a short paragraph.

Back to checking/rading on-line again.

This clock changing thing was not good for us today. My dd had a huge cheerleading competition today. We were all a bit off.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
