:tink: Thanks guys!!! It is so exciting to be a part of such a fun group of Disney cruisers! We are looking forward to getting to know eachof you over the next several months!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Ours has been filled with golf. Life for the next several weeks is nothing but golf...and my forays into the Disboards! :goodvibes

Pixie Dust all!!!!

I'm glad someones got an imagination well done Toms Pixie,.
Welcome to the thread all the new posters.
Life's really hectic here in the UK we're coming into our final 7 weeks of school
So I'm not on a lot. I'm away on a residential for the next week but I'll try and post after that.
Not sure about transport options for Cornwall butI would think a car would be best. A lot of the roads in Cornwall are extremely narrow and probably not what you are used to, but alot of fun, so bear that in mind if you hire a car. I'll see what other options you would have from London when I get back.

Whilst we're on the hire car train of thought, there is a car ferry from Portsmouth and one from Dorset which goes overnight to Spain it would then be a reasonably short drive to Barcelona, no need to worry about weight limits this way!
Maybe we should hire our own DIS coach and driver! London to Paris to Barcelona. LOL

I was in Rhodes a week ago it was between 33c and 35c.

London today 32c we are all melting! Beat that Florida ( ok well they might by a bit)

I'm glad our heat is holding out, we only have 3 days of school left here, I can't wait! We have no air conditioning so we just wilt when it's really hot! :sunny:

It looks like we have a lot of teachers on this thread. What does everyone else do for a living??? :confused3

Good Evening all!!!! Been checking my WESH updates from central Florida. They are seemingly quite happy with the rain Alberto is bringing so far.

In response to what do I do...I think my DH would like to know too! :rotfl: Actually, I consider myself a play-at-home mom. For the last year and a half I also sold Beijo bags...but really seemed to get burned on them. They are still gorgeous purses and a wonderful treat. Just not good for me to sell. As our parish priest says, I am the official cheerleader for our church/school! :cheer2: Then again, don't we all do a little bit of everything! We are coaches and cheerleaders, chefs and maids, chauffuers and nurses. We are bankers and teachers, sounding boards and dryers of tears. We fix our homes and their injuries. We are massage therapists and simple rocking chairs. And as for all us Disers...we are Disney officianotos! Obviously I wouldn't survive the spelling bee! All in all...wouldn't trade it for the world.

Well, that got a bit wordy! Sorry!

Have a great night my Rome-ancing the Mouse friends!!!

Well many, many years ago I was an administrative assistant for Chase Investigations (now JP Morgan) and also once worked for a corporate lawyer.

I thought that was a "real job". Now for the past 15 YEARS, I can't believe I am saying it, 15 years working part-time for one of our local supermarkets (non-foods dept.). It has been a great, convenient, flexible, close to home/schools place to work at.

The rest of the day - I am everything Tif (Tompixie) has mentioned. Did she list bookkeeper, negotiator, caretaker for family, parents, in-laws, etc. I am sure they are a few more ;)

I'm an official techie. I make PCs happier by fixing them.

AJ...so wish I was a techie!!! My DH and I keep saying we need to take a class, but never seem to find the time. It's a convenient excuse!!

Anna...so wish I could put bookkeeping in there...but am sadly lacking in that department. I am more the Walt in our family...and Tom our Roy!

Has anyone ever read the book on Roy???? It is wonderful and I recommend it highly!

Helen has already heard this, but I have been practicing my Italien as I tool about town. I am sure people are wondering what in the world the crazy lady talking to herself is doing??? The sad thing...I can only come up with a few of the basics once in a while. Keep persevering!!!

Night all!

OOPS, one more thing...

Anyone in our group ever been to Italy before??? We will be traveling with friends that went last year. So they may be a little in the know.

:woohoo: Ok, Tif, you have to pick just one profession, I'm confused! (Just kidding!)

Actually, once summer starts, I have diverse mix of professions, the most prominent ones are: house cleaner, driver, shopper  , you get the idea! I can't wait! :goodvibes

I have two days of school to go and i'M PSYCHED! :woohoo:

Okay - I speak "some" Italian. The dialect, but I can read it a lot better than I can speak it, if that makes sense. I was born in a small town near our first port Palermo. The plan is to have one/two of my relatives come meet us and take us to Carini. I just want to take a walk down my street, my grandmother's street and the piazza (and hopefully see a few cousins/aunts in the process). I have only been back to Italy once when I was 13.

BTW - there are two other DVC members where I work (there was also a store manager recently but he was transferred).

I have been to Italy before staying in Sorrento which is just down form Naples one of the stops and close to Pompeii and Amalfi drive. We did those and a day trip to Rome and it was most enjoyable.

The first things I remember wasn't Rome but the Amalfi drive it is so beautiful and you are high up on cliff edges looking at coastal towns clinging to the side of the hills most beautiful and highly recommended.

Sorrento was very nice we purchased lots of Wood inlay pictures carvings etc., again very much hills cliffs and big drops to volcanic beaches.

Pompeii was an experience and well worth a visit was well as the volcano, Rome was a long day seeing the Vatican and the colliseum and the Triviv fountain was excellent and the catacombs.

The Italian people are nice, the currency now of course is the Euro, but words of warning the car drivers there their skills are not good and where they are good is aiming at you, ( any Italians sorry if I offend).

Capri I went there wasn't inspired its an Island off the coast of Naples, I personally didn't get much from it.

But again much end on Amalfi drive if you can do it from Naples, just do it!

Congraulations Andrew on your 1000 post, :thumbsup2

Mine is coming up soon!

Well the disney amnesty starts tomorrow in my house. For those who dont know it is 6 eeks tomorrow until we fly to WDW for our summer holiday. (7 nights SSR around a 7 night DCL western  ) Well Dh wants to get excited the last 2 week before we go, and to keep the peace ( And give him a bit of breathing space as Im bouncing around counting days etc) we are having the amnesty.

At home I am not allowed to even whisper the words 'disney' or anything related for the next 4 weeks.

Thank goodness for my dis friends and the boards when I can chat, sing and dance disney until the cows come home !!!

Therefore anyone feel free to PM me if you would like a chat ;)

Take care

Don't you just hate that house cleaning job!!!! I try to avoid that one at all costs!!! Actually, if you looked at my house right now, you just might think that was the case! All these golf tournaments and practices as well as high school open gyms for basketball and now Iain is playing in a summer league! Trust me, I love it all! And I know that it will end all too soon...their youth...but a little breathing room would be good!

Well, better run for now. It is Alec's birthday...and Flag Day! He is ten...my baby is in double digits! I will check in later tonight.

Andrew - my son went to Italy (Rome, Venice and Florence) for his high school trip over Easter. He told me he came close to getting hit by car at least 50 times in Rome.
