I've been taking the same approach. I'm a fast reader, so if I relied on printed books I'd probably blow much of my weight limit just on books. I have a Creative player - not as cute as the IPod, but the software is pretty good. Even if the tracks aren't identified properly, I can just highlight all the files after the've been ripped, and assign author and title to all of them in one operation.

  I'm green with envy! :thumbsup2

I've got 6 down not including the one I'm revising. I'm aiming for about 12 since I will be taking the repo on my own. I figure with 6 days at sea - I can knock out about 3 books then. The other ones I can knockoff on the plane ride if the battery holds out!

Oh yeah - anyone taking an ipod - make sure you take your converter so you don't blow out the ipod! Getting closer! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Oh Julie! That is an awesome one - are you giving Andrew a run for his money? ;) (OK - a run for his countdown?)

Apparently, TWO of us had a great time today..................do you realize you had your "meet" one month from the big day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo: :dance3:

Love the propeller hat, Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!::love:

Hello JoAnn - Can I interest you in one? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm so jealous, No one on the Dis lives anywhere near me. So I'll have to wait for Barcelona and the DisMeet on board.:sad1:

I bought a pair of capris at Old Navy and they are so incredibly comfortable I'm going back to buy them in every color.:thumbsup2

I think I have figured out the multiquote thing.:cool1:

Sandra - that's ok - if anyone did - you'd probably not have any time because of allthe meets you'd be having! :rotfl2:

Another shopper like - me - find something I like and I buy multiples of it - makes it so much easier to match.

Congrats onthe multi-quoting - its funny isn't it how we struggle with it then when you get it - you say - wow - why didn't I get it the first time - its easy!

OK Gang,

Here goes... wish we'd found this site and forum about 12 months ago but we didn't.

Our 3rd Disney Cruise and we are very excited about this one. We've gone through the first few pages of this thread but it's simply overwhelming at this point. We'd like to meet some of you folks on the cruise, wondering if anyone is going to Paris after the cruise for a few days. Would like to "fit" in with color schemes of DIS members etc...

Oh Lynnise - sorry to hear that - hope you feel better fast - and on that note everyone -

START TAKING YOUR VITAMINS IF YOU HAVEN'T STARTED ALREADY!

Oh Yeah - you also might want to check on when your last tetnus shot was - you can never be too sure. Also on any shots or medications you might need. Check with your doctor just in case. Mine did want to give us some Hep shots but I insisted. Gosh - which one escapes me at the moment but we all got Tetnus shots updated and or received them. Better safe than sorry!

Leaving the girls to themselves and taking the honeymoon we never had!

For now stateroom 2094....

Eric and Cassie - :welcome: where in SoCal are you? There are several of us locals here too. (I'm in Norwalk) When are you getting to Barcelona? Where you staying at? Jump right in - its the best way to get inititated! :rotfl2: And before you ask - you must have 10 posts before you can PM anyone. Everyone asks! Once again - :welcome:

Sallie,

I was thinking about our discussion about the Castaway Club. I'm trying to remember but I think we got a cabin gift on our second cruise, so maybe you are Castaway Club members on the second cruise.

Anyone know? Sallie didn't get her Castaway Club cards yet, she's cruised with DCL once before. I thought I got them after the second DCL cruise. Are you considered Castaway Club members on the second cruise?

Maryann
Wow - this is weird - I quoted this last post and it disappeared - now it showed up here - this is weird - insert Twilight Zone theme in here.

Ok - I'm off to revise 50 more tracks. :headache: :headache:

Dan - I'm so jealous! And watch - no sooner will I get this done when I find the real way to do it. That's my luck

Oh yeah - finally found all my receipts for the luggage I bought from Marshalls. I am going tomorrow to return them and I should be getting back over $300 - well ok - I AM returning a few other stuff along with 2 suitcases, 3 carry-ons and one duffel bag. These were rendered obsolete when I came across the luggage warehouse sale on Saturday. There go my cool sherbert colored suitcases though. :sad1:

There probably is a way to do it with ITunes, but I never bothered to learn ITunes.

I picked up a 2GB Creative Muvo - about the size of two packs of gum. It's nowhere near as cute as the IPod (any of them), and doesn't have nearly as good a user interface. But...
  • It was only $70
  • It uses a single AAA battery (i.e., no chargers)
  • It has a built in USB plug (i.e. no cables)
So it's not that it's better than an IPod - it isn't. It's certainly not cooler. But for something simple, portable and cheap enough so I don't care if it gets lost/broken/stolen, it should do the trick.

Congrats on the luggage deal (I remember reading about that earlier). I will settle for my old reliable Costco luggage that I've had for a decade or so. The funny part is watching the rest of my group - most of them aren't even really thinking about it yet - yesterday one mentioned he's a "week before" person.

Ok, fair enough - usually I do a week before as well. It's the infectious enthusiasm of the people on the board here that has me thinking about it this early.

LOL - I've packed and unpacked so many times that I've given up. Wait a few days and then start it back up all over again.

Then when I start to realized that I need more clothes than I have on my mental list - I realize that DH isn't going to be around to repack for me and so that revises my list real quick. :rotfl2:

I should just pack like this every trip. :upsidedow

Good monring everyone - I have five minutes and will need to get off and start my hectic day again. I have not been on since yesterday monring - a few minutes here and there (that doesn't count ;) ).

I can't keep up anymore - way too much to do/get ready before Sun. and the cruise. My dd's cheerleading and track practice schedules have me running around also every afternoon/early eve.

I want to welcome the new cruisers 4kittymagic and disneyaddict.

Maryanne and Sallie - you guys look like you had a great time. Nice pictures.

Lovebeast, I hope you feel better.

Congratulations on getting Palo brunch and pirates to everyone.

I keep forgetting to ask - where is Disneylover5?

Also - anyone here from Spain crusing? Just realised that I don't think anyone here is  - I am sure there must be some cruisers from Spain, perhaps they have not found us yet? :confused3

I also checked dcl website and only cat. 11 comes up for our cruise. We are getting so close.

Too many things to do to list - :scared:

Have a great day everyone. I apologize if I missed someone - that's what happens when you do everything in a hurry.

I am uploading my books on tape that I already bought onto my ipod. I need to put them into my iTunes library to then place them in my ipod for the weeks that I will be gone. I am an avid ready and can easily "read" several books - so as to conserve weight - I'm trying this route to see how it goes. But the books I already had - when I put them into the library - didn't download with the info. On some CD's all you have to do is upload and the tracks/chapters are automatically there. On these 3 there is nothing but Track 1, 2 3, etc. For each CD. This particular book which I love the author - Stephen White, has 10 CD's - with an average track record of 99 on each CD. Meaning I have to input the name, author name, cd name, etc or else I will have 10 cd's with track 1 info on them and not way to distinguish disk 1, 2 etc. A pain in the butt. I should have just listened to it at home. I never learn! :headache:

WOW! I'm impressed! I can't even understand this explanation let alone actually mke it work. I leave all of that to DH,DS or DD.

Brian will send you a note later - sorry not sure if your DD 16 will want to hang out with my DD-14. She's nice but that age can be tricky. However, tell her not to dispair - I'm sure she won't have any problems once we get onboard. When my DS would go with us - I went through this every single time. For months I'd hear - but there is no one on the ship my age. You should have heard the ruckus in '05 for the Mex Riveria - for months all I heard was BS but no sooner did we get to the port - not even inside the terminal and he'd made friends or targets already. And he was going on 19 at the time.

DS15 was the same way but he was off with friends before the first dinner and it was hard to gt him back with us for the rest of the cruise.

Hey Andrew - had one of those on Tuesday. My trainer got my heartrate up waaaayyyyy too high. Thought I was going to pass out. Took me over 30 minutes to recover. We had to scratch the session. However, I had a headached for the rest of the day even after taking a 2 hr nap. I have got to tell her to slow down. I'll die next time. Took over 8 minutes to get my heartrate DOWN to 100. :scared1:

Just more proof that exercise isn't really good for you :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Jeanne - where in the world did you find a vet chiro? I think my girls may need one. They are going in just before we leave for everything - shots, teeth cleaning, clean-up - may as well check that.

My two cats, sisters, had a heart condition. We didn't know it until the first one died at 7 yrs old. After that the other one went to a vet/cardiologist for regular check ups. When I met DH he thought I was CRAZY!

Good morning everyone,

Does anyone know where I might find a pattern for the Fish extender or at least the typical dimensions. I can't remember how wide the fish is and I know that section of wall is quite narrow.

Sandra

maybe we can "roll around" it together? Although, I have seen your picture, you look quite thin to me!

Alright - I've got stuff to do - I'll ketchup tomorrow.

Thin, yes, in shape, NO. :lmao: :lmao:

I remember someone mentioning walking around the ship in the morning. I might be interested in that.

Does anyone know if the time we actually arrive in port is posted somewhere. I'd like to be up and actually see as we pull into each port.

Sandra

Great quote, Julie, and how true. Thanks .

Andrew, Helen, Izzy, and our other Brit friends,

Everything OK over there with the London bomb they found and diffused before it could blow. Is this near where you work, Andrew? They say it was near a popular nightclub called Tiger,Tiger. Wow, what a reality check. I hear we're on alert over here too. Better safe than sorry. Luckily DS & DD left London and are now in Scotland. Still gives you the creeps, though.

Stay safe.

Maryann

Last night thousands of pounds of "fertilizer" were found, the stuff used in the Oklahoma Bombing, on Staten Island. I'm thankful that someone is being vigilant in finding these things before they can cause any damage or injury.

Sandra that we me, I've walked a marathon and I just love  walking round the ship in the mornings. However I've only done DCL Caribbean cruises and the days were much more laid back than I think there going to be on this cruise.

I would love to do a couple of early morning walks with you say 6am - 7 am on a couple of days when we're not getting up at that time to do an excursion. Maybe we can discuss it when we get onboard.

Thanks for all your thoughts, thankfully the "person" and I use that term VERY loosley didn't manage to detonate it otherwise it would have created complete chaos in the center of town and complete carnage as the police are describing the device as massive. Here's a link to what the BBC are saying on our local london website http://http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6252276.stm

The great news about both of these stories (and so many stories recently) is that these disasters were averted . . . the British intelligence and police in particular have been terrific recently about cracking potential attacks before they can occur.

There go my cool sherbert colored suitcases though. :sad1:
DD will be sad, won't she?

So it's not that it's better than an IPod - it isn't. It's certainly not cooler. But for something simple, portable and cheap enough so I don't care if it gets lost/broken/stolen, it should do the trick.

DH got all 5 of us a simple MP3 way back - by Creative, can't remember the name though. Anyway, works great, but, kids being kids, they had to have an iPod. DD bought hers. DS13 got one for bday and then when DD bought a Video iPod, she gave other DS her regular iPod. Now I bought DH a video for father's day and we're giving the 2 DSs video iPods for Xmas - but before the cruise so they can use them. Me, I still have my little one from a zillion years ago -works fine for me. I also load podcasts on my PDA/phone - although, I rarely think to listen to them. I guess I'll do that on the multiple plane rides we go on.

I can't imagine packing yet - I still need to wear my clothes! I do collect things and set them aside though. Once my brother leaves and we get back from the 2nd to last softball tournament (7/9), I'll pull out the suitcases and really start to get things together. I love the packing lists that various people have offered. I've "edited" a few of them for my own use and hope that helps!!

I think the front page of the DCL med website shows times.

I hadn't heard about any of these things! We only have cable, no local stations so I rarely watch the news. I am a newspaper and internet news junkie, but :) I check the DIS boards before the news:confused3 I'll have to go educate myself this am!!
