July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 2

Sounds like you are having lots of fun. Be sure to take lots of pics of the things I will not get to see so I can look at them later. If you see anything I really must see in Barcelona, maybe we can go on Saturday when I get there. Everyone is talking about how beautiful the city is.

We Made It! 26 hrs later and we are here. We checked into the hotel at 7:40 - ROyal Ramblas. While we got one true Triple - the other was a made up one. DH and I laughed as the size of the rooms - although triple here is the size of a Motel 6 room. It is nice and well, just wanted to share.

We are at the top of Las Ramblas VERY close - exactly 1 minute from Hard Rock and tried going there but the 2 hr wait was unbearable. So we tried Mickey Dee's which for some reason was dark and so we ended up at Burger King! The food was ok - the worst part about that? The $70 price ticket (in American Dollar) for a party of 6!

Yeah today we went to Sagrada Famalia Church and I had to pose DH. THey are still building the church as if no one knew - our business is building grocery stores and remodels so we use a lot of the same scaffolding, forklifts and tools that were in the Church. So I posed DH in front of one and called his cell and then snapped the picture when he answered. LOL - we had a blast doing it. I'll have to post it later.


DH and April went to hit some stores - so OBVIOUSLY she must be feeling better. THey close around 8:30 on the Las Ramblas but the big and I REALLY MEAN BIG El Cortes Ingles is the size of an LA Downtown building.

Hey, Laura, do not look for us at the Royal Ramblas. We are staying at the Barcelona Ramblas, and it is nothing like where you are staying. It is okay, but let's just say that the taxi driver told us to watch out for pickpockets and this used to be the Chinatown part of Barcelona... I told the kids that this would be an adventure.... you should have seen their expressions. It was funny.

Anyways, we did the Segway tour with Edgar and loved it. It was a lot of fun. However, while taking a picture I crashed and burned when I hit the wall. You know - the walls are VERY sturdy here. Well, I twisted my knee, so I have it bound and am limping around. I really hope it does not hurt our excursions, but it may keep us from going to the magic fountain tonight.

I HOPE ALL THOSE TRAVELLING ARRIVE SAFELY, AND THOSE HERE HAVE A GREAT TIME BEFORE WE BOARD TOMORROW!!!!!

You will never guess what!!​

The tag fairy showed up at my house tonight with a Bahama Mama and told me to sit and rest and she would pack for me!! Now, it is all done and I am well rested!!

Wow! you must have been a very good girl...

We are watching the news and it just came on to say that the TSA has issued warnings to airports that terrorists are boarding planes with parts for bombs each carried by different people on a flight. THey have caught this going on in 4 US airports.

Also, a Delta flight from JFK to Rome has been diverted to Boston due to a bird flying into the engine.

I don't think any of us are flying through Rome. We are praying for safe flights for everyone. And that the airport security will find and foil any attempts to disrupt air travel.

Have not heard this...that is upsetting. Praying also, for safe flights for everyone.

We dodged a bullet last week - my mom had a mild pneumonia and recurrence of a previous illness, but fortunately today we found out that she has responded very well to antibiotics and other medication and should continue to recover.

My reason for mentioning this - one of the suggestions that I received along the way was to admit her temporarily into a convalescent home - where she could get care while we are away. Fortunately, this will not be necessary and the extra support we've arranged for should be more than sufficient (she still lives independently - just needs a bit of help here and there). All those of us with elderly parents sacrafice for them - but we caregivers have a responsibility to take care of ourselves as well. I don't know if this particular idea makes sense in your case, but I mention it because it had not even occurred to me until someone else mentioned it.

Regarding strep - hopefully that isn't it, but if it is, antibiotics should do the trick, and do it fast enough so he'll still thoroughly enjoy the vacation. I did a cruise while recovering from strep, and between Motrin and a throat lozenges I did just fine.

Hi All...

Had an interesting day here in Barcelona yesterday. Arrived to our hotel (Hesperia Presidente) at approx. 1:30pm local time. We were all exhausted so took a short nap (3hrs) and then ventured off via Taxi to The Hard Rock for dinner. Being from the U.S., the driving habits overseas always astound us and here in Barcelona was no different. The abundance of motor scooters is amazing and the narrow streets and they people zoom around, it's like being on a roller coaster ride. Definitely brought a smile to our faces.

Have not seen anyone from DISboards yet (that we are aware of) could of stepped on you and not known it. We'll have our Rome-ancing the Mouse T's on today and will be leaving the Hotel around Noon for the ship. See you all there.

We WERE walking on Las Ramblas. We almost were able to meet.

Well - we made it ok - but the jet lag was killing me. I woke up this morning at around 3 and was feeling the waves. Took some Bonine, and it knocked me out till 10AM!!! Yep - that's right - we slept right through the dismeet.

Well we'll catch you with some of you guys on some excursions. Now we are off to the Golden Mickey show and to deliver the boys gift bags. Just have to double check Andrew's room number.

Also, if anyone's badge reel is broken or if you would like to switch colors or would like another reel, I have extra reels and badge holders. They are in the fish extender outside my stateroom 6504. Help yourself.

Hey, Carrie. We were wondering where you were on Sunday. There was a big crowd of us in the Promenade Lounge, which really was a little too much for the castmembers trying to teach how to make paper airplanes.

Brian (formerCPer) took the mike and got us organized (thanks, Brian), and we had a really great time meeting each other.

It's been fun running into each other on the ship, too, and Laura took pics of everyone, so I'm hoping they get posted when time & bandwidth allow. (hint hint)

Hi Joe. Really wish you were on the cruise with us....


It is a little after 6am now, and we are sailing into Sardinia. Have had a couple of incredible days with our stops in Palermo & Naples, and looking forward to more. Blogs can be found on the Trip Reports board. I'll try and bump them up, although, the Internet HAS been slow and also gets knocked out so we can't upload anything at times, plus it's been busy, so a lot of us haven't had a chance to blog. We're hoping to catch up today (before Rome).

However, glad to hear that you all had a good times.

I know that the kids have PCD, just same as our childrens.

We had a fabulous times and didn't want to come off the Disney Cruise As everything was so good.

Cannot believe that your cruise is over now.

Just wonder about the two interpreters and we had them on our cruise as we had a great times with them as they were sitting with us for meals also they came with us to tours. We had a fun times. We are missing them We were so envy when they told us that they stayed on for another one deaf family which was on your cruise.

SAFE TRIP HOME

We made it home at 8pm last night.............we had a two hour delay in Barcelona and then we were on the plane from 8am to 5pm (our time!) Long, long day and washing of course all day today............Tara has put some preliminary pictures on our blog (see below for link and add comments!) and notes..........I plan to add a lot more details soon! for memories to last a lifetime! This has to be the best Dis board ever! When I picked up our group picture at Shutters someone asked me if it was my family? My reply was, "yes, they are my extended family!" I am not sure what the other person thought!

This vacation sure gave new meaning to time flies when you're having fun!

Hope all return home safe and sound and with their luggage! We had one suitcase soaked! It must have been outside at the Barcelona terminal for some time to be so wet that even our clothes inside were also wet! At least they were all there. Just gave me a head start on the

I don't think Princess Jasmine is sure she belongs in her own home. She was very happy with our friend who was dog sitting! I think she thought we had decided to give her away!
