Maryann

Hi Maryann - It was a great night last night.

The castle was truly beautiful - (It is converted into a hotel)

(For those who missed it I went to an Elizabeth banquet.)

There were actors in costume.

We met in the dungeon bar ( Which really used to be a dungeon)

We were all led into the baquet hall -Long rows of wooden benches.

One party was selected to be the honary baron for the night (not us) They sat at the top table.

There was singing, music and a lot of mead (old drink made from honey)

We only had bread and dagger to eat with ( After a couple glasses of mead you didn't care):lmao:

Food was delicious - we had vegetable broth and wholemeal bread.
Fish pie ( cod with mash and cheese - yummy but very difficult to eat)
Lamb ribs -cooked in red wine
Roast Chicken, jacket potato and salad
Apple crumble and cream
(thankfully they gave us a spoon for desert):goodvibes
After the banquet we were taken back to the dungeons where they had a disco (so I worked off some of the calories).
:rolleyes1

My head is a little worse for wear this morning if you know what I mean:goodvibes

Hi everyone!
I think my husband (AZDisneyDan) posted on here a few weeks ago letting you all know we are on your cruise too! :cool1:

I have a question about Olbia, if anyone can help, we want to go to the beach on our own and understand some people are planning the same, does anyone know where to go? What bus to take? How to get to the best beach? We were in a book store looking at a book on Sardinia and we tried figuring it out-sounds like Costa Smeralda is pretty close but we couldn't figure out if there is a bus from port to there? Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks! Can't wait to get onboard! (This will be our first Disney Cruise!!!)

:cheer2:

Firstly you are very welcome to this thread and this 'British' Disney cruise, we have now taken over. You will really enjoy the fun of DCL, and most likley be hooked.

Everyone here is nice so keep dropping in.

Julie and Sallie where considering organising a beach break in Sardina, they live in New York so your question most likley will be answered later, say after miday here by them.

The ship will dock at the''Isola Bianca wharf'' the city centre is about a mile away, there should be a free shuttle but might have waits to board.

20 mins walk, Taxi Euros 15-20.

Beachs La Cinta, Costa Smeralda both clean and great views, local.Recommend taxi from ship, as if there are buses, you would have to go to the town first anyway and transfer and not know time far better to arrange a taxi in advance.

I asked for special dispensation concerning the use of his beautiful fountains. He was very sympathetic and quite friendly. He couldn't believe how red my face got and the amount of steam pouring through my clothing during one of my flashes. Sooooooo... He granted me a special dispensation- :cool1: and I now I CAN-COOL OFF IN THE FOUNTAINS WITHOUT GETTING ARRESTED!!!!!!
And guess what?????? He loved my propellor hat so much that he sent his pope shopper out to get him and his whole entourage one !!!! :cutie: :cutie:

Sally that is brilliant ( but it hurts to laugh this morning)

Your evening out, Sounds good.

As Im getting ready to contemplate packing this week this is some of the info I pulled from the BA website.

Liquids in hand baggage
Government authorities in many countries have now defined restrictions on the type and quantity of liquids that may be carried in hand baggage through the airport, or on flights arriving into or departing from their country.
The European Union (EU) liquid policy
The European Union agreed a new policy that brings into line all EU countries. The change in policy protects air travellers against the current security threat. Greater consistency will help customers understand more easily what they can and can't take onboard flights with them in the future.
The EU rules on liquids apply to all air passengers travelling from any EU airport, including UK airports, as well those travelling from Albania, Kosovo, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine, regardless of their destination. The changes became effective from 6 November 2006. Limited quantities of liquids, gels or pastes must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml (approximately 3.5 fl. oz). This may include:
• Shampoo
• Creams
• Hair gel, hair spray
• Suntan lotions
• Toothpaste
• Liquid or aerosol deodorants
• Perfumes
• Cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss
• Water and other drinks, soups and syrups
• Other items of similar consistency
The containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre (1.75 pint) capacity.
Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed.
At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.
Which European countries are affected by the EU liquids in hand baggage policy?

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
In addition, air passengers travelling from airports in Albania, Kosovo, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine should comply with the new liquids policy.

Why does the new policy affect all EU countries and Albania, Kosovo, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine?

The European Union agreed a new policy that brings into line all EU countries. Some non-EU countries such as Albania, Kosovo, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine have also agreed to implement the same policy. The change in policy protects air travellers against the current security threat. Greater consistency will help customers understand more easily what they can and can't take onboard flights with them in the future.

The North American liquid policy
The Transportation Security Administration in the USA and the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority relaxed the restrictions in September 2006 on the carriage of liquids through airport security searches on flights departing airports in the USA and Canada.
Customers may take with them in their cabin bag limited quantities of liquids, gels and aerosols, including travel-size toiletries such as shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray. Containers holding liquids must not exceed three American ounces or 90ml. Liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic zip-top bag that does not exceed 20cm x 20cm, or 8 inches x 8 inches, or quart size. Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed. At the security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately. Customers carrying liquids may be subject to secondary searches before boarding.

Can I take electrical items such as MP3 player, digital camera, film camera, mobile phone, video camera in my cabin bag?
Yes, provided it fits within a bag no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.
Large electrical equipment such as laptops and large hair dryers must be removed from the cabin bag and placed in a tray for x-ray screening.
.
Can I take my own food and drink onboard?
Customers can take solid food items onboard for consumption in-flight such as sandwiches, crisps, fruit and vegetables.
Drinks and liquid-based food items such as pasta sauces, gravies, stews and curries, jams and yoghurts may be taken through security provided they are stored in containers no larger than 100ml and are carried in a clear plastic bag.

Can I take contact lenses and solution in my cabin bag?
Customers can take onboard disposable contact lenses in sealed strips. Non-disposable contact lenses may be taken onboard in holders that contain solution. These do not need to be packed into the clear plastic bag.
Additional solution may be taken in a container no bigger than 100ml but this must be carried in the clear plastic bag.

Can I take cigarette lighters and matches in my cabin bag?
Cigarette lighters cannot be taken through central security search.
They may be purchased airside and carried onto the aircraft on the person unless customers are travelling to the USA.
Cigarette lighters must not be carried onboard flights to the USA.
Cigarette lighters must not be carried in the cabin bag or checked into the hold.
A small packet of safety matches is permitted to be carried on the person but must not be put in the cabin bag.

Can I take pens/pencils etc in my cabin bag?
Customers may take biros and fountain pens with an ink cartridge inserted.
Re-fills and additional ink cartridges not exceeding 100ml (3.5 fl.oz) may be put into the clear plastic bag or checked into hold luggage.

Can I take batteries in my cabin bag?
Yes.

Medicines in hand baggage

Can I take my essential medication in my cabin bag?
Yes.
Essential medication in liquid form (prescription or over the counter) may be carried in the cabin bag. Customers may be asked to prove that the medicine is for an individual travelling and is required during the flight.
Medicines in non-liquid form may be carried in the cabin bag as normal, provided they fit into a bag no bigger than 56 cm x 45cm x 25cm.

Does essential liquid medicine need to be placed in the clear plastic bag?
We would advise customers to carry all liquids in the clear plastic bag.
However, if you need more than 100ml of essential liquid medicines during your flight this may be carried separately in your cabin bag.
Customers may be asked to prove that the medicine is for an individual travelling and is required during the flight.

Can I take insulin in my cabin bag?
Yes.

If I check my insulin in the hold will it freeze?
The temperature in the hold of a British Airways aircraft does not fall below four degrees Celsius, therefore medications such as insulin will not freeze.

Can I take a specially prepared drink if I have an allergy or special dietary requirement?
Yes, provided it is for a medical reason.
Non-medical related drink preparations may be taken through security in quantities of no more than 100ml and carried in the clear plastic bag.

Can I take walking aids such as wheelchairs/sticks onboard?
Yes. All walking aids must be x-ray screened

Travelling with children

Can I take a separate bag for my children?
Yes. Babies and children are allowed one bag each, which must comply with UK Department for Transport dimensions (56cm x 45cm x 25cm).

Can I take my car seat onboard for my children?

Yes.

Customers travelling with infants up to two years old can request a child seat or bassinet when bookings are made and up to 24 hours before departure. These are provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Can I take my pushchair through security?
Yes. All pushchairs must be x-ray screened.

Can I take soft toys, games and activities to keep my children amused during the flight?

Yes, provided the items fit into a bag no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.
Babies and children are allowed one bag each.

Can I take baby food/milk onboard?
Yes, but every bottle must be tasted by the accompanying adult.

Does my baby milk and food have to be placed in the clear plastic bag?
No.
If it is in quantities less than 100ml, we advise you to carry it in the clear plastic bag.

Can I take spare clothing and nappies for my children?
Yes, provided the items are not prohibited and fit into a bag no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.
Babies and children are allowed one bag each.

You can buy stuff like that at W H Smith, but they give out clear bags at airport for free.
For our short flight you shouldnt need anything.

Electrical stuff chargers etc in suitcase not carry on, Laptop and camcorder only on flight. Documents you need in carry on but for our short flight you shouldnt need change of clothes etc

In May I found them more flexible than in August 2006, however we 'forgot' got the kids a drink and then went through security so had to ditch them, and buy again.
Pack as much as you can in cases, I suggest have one small one ofr everything like that so liquids etc do not spill. Remeber BA flights 23kg max or £60 fine.

Oh Yeah - DanfromCA? You now know Andrew, Julie, Lisa and myself on the EB - you can always hang with us! That is the hot cruise to do! :thumbsup2

Knowing I'll be meeting others on this cruise who will also be on the EB cruise is a bonus treat.

:offtopic:
I HATE CROWDS - this is me in a mall - :furious:

So, do I forgo the $40% discount, and go for the smaller mall store which probably will be less busy or should I try and gut it out and go to the one that I ordered the book from? Also, the smaller store told me that they should have plenty of limited edition posters to hand out which the bigger store may run out of?

I've never done the midnight thing before, but this time I'm desperate, so I'll face the crowds. The only question is whether I'll get any sleep at all on Friday night. Of course, staying up all night might be a good way to start adjusting to European time.

Firstly you are very welcome to this thread and this 'British' Disney cruise, we have now taken over. You will really enjoy the fun of DCL, and most likley be hooked.

Yeah, have to pitty those poor Americans, surrounded by "foreigners" from the UK on one side and California on the other :rolleyes1

You are allowed to carry up to 5 clear plastic bags, however, they must be kept within a clear plastic bag and passed separately through security.

My strategy for the carry on:

One change of clothing.
Everything that I MUST have on the cruise (in the event that I make it but my main luggage does not). That includes high value items (laptop, camera, etc. chargers that would be hard to replace, etc.)
Nothing that could be replaced easily on board, or at a typical port shop (toiletries are easily replaced, thus I'll leave those in the main luggage).

Terminal C, port of Barcelona, there are shuttles to/from the ship.

Not being funny, if any taxi heads for the port, they will not be able to miss the Disney Magic!!!

Didnt know California was seperate from USA, when did Arnie declare that?:rotfl2:

I would really limt carry on as you are checked and rechecked now, agree laptops cameras etc, but all chargers in suitacse, only keep what you really need.
Keep metal to a minimum, ie metal in Belts, shoes, kets etc, Shoes you might need to take off, kids flip flops seem ok.

Do not 'open' anything purchased in duty free, or airport shopping, as that can go they recheck at the gate.
