July 26, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska ~ Bears, Whales, Eagles and Ducks. Oh My!

While we are on the subject of clothes...what are you thinking of for day time wear? Jeans, capris, shorts? Some of each to be prepared for any weather? But mostly jeans?

We have what I call convertable pants- either pants that can roll into capris or in my hubby and son's case pants that zip apart to make shorts. Dd and I have the pants to capris (2) and jeans (2) plus leggings (1) that we can wear under the pants/jeans or a skirt (1) if it is cold.

Unfortunately, this year FL was 28 degrees in December! Waaaay too cold for my taste. Hoping AK will be warmer in July. :goodvibes

Not where I live in Florida! The average high temperature for this time of year is over 70 degrees!:grouphug: I don't think it ever got below 32 degrees here and if it did come close it didn't stay long.

That's what I was thinking too!! Jan of '09 it was 23 degrees in Orlando when we were there. :scared1: Brack is correct though, it only lasted a few days.

My husband (age 41) and I (44) will be celebrating our 10th anniversary on this cruise. I tried to add us to the roll call, but I guess I haven't posted enough yet.....so I'll try again in a few days....
Our plans are to fly into Vancouver from Syracuse, NY on Monday and stay at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Monday night and catching Disney's transportation over to the port.
I've seen a couple people asking about the fish extenders. I would love to do this too!!! I wanted to do it on our cruise on the Dream in a couple weeks, but I missed the deadline to sign up.:headache:
One question I've been wanting to ask from all of you lucky people who have cruised Alaska before - Is there a bad or good time to schedule spa treatments, palo etc...? I'm thinking in terms of missing something cool the ship might be passing......
Thanks for any input and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Lori

Lori, as soon as you have enough posts, just keep chatting post 10 is the magic number, right click on my name <-- and send me your stats for roll call.

Welcome! A lot of us are friends who originally met here.

When are you cruising on the Dream? We are on the Dream 2/13-2/17.

Thanks for the "welcomes". We are sailing on Feb. 20th on the Dream. I'm so excited! And then two minutes after we get back....I'll start getting excited for this Alaskan cruise!

Hi! :wave2: My DH and DS (10) will be joining everyone on this cruise. We are very excited. :yay: We would like to meet other DISers and join the FE group.

We have not sailed Alaska before so I can't be very helpful. but did not want you to think the question was just ignored.

Welcome aboard! :thumbsup2

This is our 10th Disney cruise but our first to Alaska so I can't be too helpful. :confused3 I would be afraid that any time in the daylight I would miss something but I am sure that the Navigators will keep us informed.

We are in shock over the cost of flying from Chicago to Vancouver. We are getting prices between $1200 and $1500 for the two of us (senior rate). We are determined not to cancel this cruise. We are going to have to book but I am shocked at the cost. We only want to fly to Vancouver and back...not buy the plane.

We booked our air. Maybe I need another part time job :confused3 The good news is WE ARE GOING TO ALASKA!

Does anyone know how soon we should organize a group for the fish extenders? I'm so excited to do this!:dance3:

I wouldn't be against organizing the FEs, but I've never done them, so I'm probably not your best choice.......but if no one else will do it and someone can lead me through it, I'm game.:rolleyes1

:scared1: It looks like our transportation costs will be about $1,000..... Still too much!

We paid $1429. :sad2: We got tthe last two seats and they are not together. This is truly a once in a lifetime trip. (That's what we keep telling each other.)
