July 20th, 2011 – 10 Night Mediterranean "Mickey's European Explorers"

My first cruise in 8 years!

I used to go every year with a group of friends post-college. I don't know if it is embarrassing or impressive that we kept running into the same poolside waiter every year (despite ship changes) and he remembered us - and our names.

This will be a very different experience with kids - ours crash so early (the downside of naturally early risers) that even staying up for the deck parties will be a struggle - that's why we have a balcony room - we can sit outside and have a glass of wine when they sleep!

Jenn I think after doing the excursions, and the heat. I wont be doing too much when we back on the ship..Its draining. We also have a balcony room, and that's a great idea just to sit and relax with a glass of wine.

Just wondering if anyone on our cruise was looking to book a DCL cruise for 2012, given the dates and itineiries are out for some of them ? :confused3

We are looking at doing one on The Dream 4 nights in Feb 2012 - but I must say I was less than impressed to see the same old itineries rolled out, yet again. :rolleyes1

I agree, a bit disappointing, I was hoping for New York, or something, although there are rumours this may still happen.

We were looking for 2012, thinking about October, on the Dream for 7 days, I thought the prices were good - basic inside. but we need to check out our airmiles, we have a lot, but it always seems the flights we want, haven't got airmiles!!!!

Not sure I would do four days again, unless we combine it with a WDW visit like before.

It will be very interesting to see the Med. ports of call, any ideas when they are going to be released. The Disney Travel Agents website hasn't any further information, although they are still saying UK Residents Rates for all next years Magic Cruises. I can't get into the booking system though!

Hello everyone from Valletta Harbour Malta !:cool2:

Wow are you all in for a treat next year !:cool1:

We are currently renting an apartment here in Valletta harbour 's Senglea island. We are directly overlooking the keyside where the cruise ships moor up. Today in port there was one from the Costa Line, and the other from HAL.... Cunard's "Queen Victoria" will be here on Monday can't wait for that.

All I can say about Valletta is WOW ! What an impressive city and it is just enormous ! I had no idea it was so big ..and on such a small island too !..and so many fortresses and churches.

We did a tour of the harbour on a little gondola type boat this afternoon - the local chap taking us was very informative - as we passed the cruise ships tied up on the Valletta side, we asked him if he'd seen The Disney Magic earlier this year ? Yes, he had, and spoke most enthusiastically about the ship's horn ! Lol !

Sat on the balacony this evening watching the cruise ships leave and of course our thoughts are turning to next year's trip !!

Will try and post some pictures for you when we return next week.

Bye for now folks !:wave2:

Have a lovely time, you lucky things!!!

We loved Valetta, I had never been, but OH had been several times as a child.

I loved it, we got a taxi and did the Blue Grotto and then the Mdina, which was a great place, dd was galloping around pretending she was a Knight!!

We sat just below where you are staying, on the harbour and had a drink, looking at the Magic.

Can't wait to go back, but hear the Schooner trip was amazing, so a bit torn as to whether to explore more of the island, or go on that!

By the way, has anyone noticed that the Med prices have increased hugely in the last two days, not sure what is driving the prices up and also a 9C, is actually cheaper than an 11!!!

Check your prices now and feel good that you have booked this far out!!

Flight prices due to rise next week! Looked at Monarch flights and already gone up by £50 since I last looked:confused3

I have been waiting for offers to come through, but nothing yet, maybe I should just go ahead and book.

Scottish Wee, I didn't realise you are on our cruise....from previous posts I understand you are a BSL user. I have my Level 3 BSL (used to work for Hearing Dogs for years). I am a bit rusty, but maybe we can have a good old sign!!!!

Hi kate so funny that you mention airline Tickets..My TA just booked ours through Disney, they were actually cheaper than going directly through Delta, Continental or American Airlines. So we went with them..

Would you happen to know what airline? Are you leaving from JFK?We may also go through Disney/TA since we are unable to find good airfares.

Hi again!
We're just back from a trip to Barcelona. Had a great time in this fantastic city! Would advice you all to spend some days there before or after the cruise. Off course took a look at the cruise terminal. Can't wait to board the magic there!

I agree, we love Barcelona, although have been loads of times, still find something new to do or see.

A lot of people on the Dis boards are really anxious about crime in Barcelona and even think they will stay in their hotel, but that is such a shame when there are so many fantastic sights.

I wish we could have a few more days there this time, but will need to get back after the cruise and are already taking dd out of school for three days before her holidays start, so it isn't an option.

Lucky you getting a preview and knowing you will be back.

Hate to say it, but the crime is just as bad in Florence and Rome - the bus to Vatican City is known as the "pickpocket express". Actually, at the British Museum this past weekend, the security guard warned my mom to be careful with her handbag and I made her wear it cross-body.

I think being aware, and being prepared is the best defense. (That said, my travel-safe purse some how didn't make the move, so I"m buying a new PacSafe purse or backpack for the trip!)

On another note, I'm happy to say my ebay-purchased FE arrived in the mail today! :yay::yay::yay::yay:
I'm going to buy some fabric paint pens to personalize it, as it is a little dull. SO excited!

Rome is notorious, I was out there with a friend for a while, working and there was a Sunday market along the river, which had masses and masses of secondhand, coats/bags etc., I am sure most were stolen!

We didn't bother locking the car, as it was broken into everytime we did!! Luckily we had one of the radios that you could pull out and take with you!

Those were the days!!!

Hi all,

Sad to say, our family is jumping ship. After some careful consideration, we've cancelled. We've rebooked a trip on Adventures by Disney.

It will be sad not to meet all of you.

I'd be happy to maintain the website for you if people want to PM me any updates or transfer it to someone if that's a possibility. It's really easy to maintain.

Have the best cruise ever!

Keever and family
