July 2012 Resort and ADR Lists Thread...Countdown to Disney!

Question of the day...

Do you have any before Disney traditions?

Before Disney we always watch all the Disney classics and have Disney movie night. We make a countdown calendar and count down the days. I always make the kids autograph books each time. I love scrap booking so it's a lot of fun to make them. I always get my nails done for Disney.

This year has been a challenge though because the kids have no idea that we are going. My son has asked multiple times if we can go to Disney, but we keep telling them with fixing things in the kitchen, we don't know if we can afford to go. They are going to be so surprised when we tell them the day before we go. :cool1:

We watch "Disney Must Do" on You Tube and we have the 2012 Disney Planning Video on in the spare bedroom. :dance3:

Wish you can record their reaction when you let them know, it will be a site to see. Post it on "You Tube" so we all can view the video.

Ha! Wow! Small world, we're in beautiful Manchvegas...

That's not weird....last year our neighbors went with us...same flights and everything.

I could practically wave to you from here! We're leaving from the Manchester/Greater Boston airport (which is technically in Londonderry). 12 minutes from door-to-skycap (not that I've counted or anything)!

One week from RIGHT NOW and we'll be on the plane!

Yup, we are about the same distance to the airport! It's a thing of beauty!! :thumbsup2

Yay!!! For one week!!! I did on line check in today! 10 days to go! :dance3:

Yes! Well, some for only before we go to Disney, and some before any type of vacation.

I finalize park itineraries, look at menus one last time, we look at rides online (You Tube), and I look at park maps even though I know my way around pretty well.

I always get my nails done the day before (mani and pedi). We always order pizza the night before vacation since it will be a while until we have Brooklyn pizza again.

DH and I try to remember to videotape when we wake the kids up on the morning vacation starts! :thumbsup2

Question of the day...

Do you have any before Disney traditions?

No, none at all. Unless you count packing! ;)

For those of you doing online check in.... Is there any other benefit from it other then going through the line quicker? If you have room location request, will it benefit those or hurt your chances? We will be checking in around 7am, so I doubt our room would be ready anyways.

I always do on line check in...I just did ours today even though we are staying CL and don't "need to"....:confused3. I do it because it makes the trip feel closer! Plus, you can indicate what time you plan on arriving, so hopefully the room would be ready for us... I don't see any reason why not to. And although I typically don't make room requests...we did this trip and the CL itinerary planner told me that doing online check in does not affect your room requests...but if you don't get the request (as they are not guaranteed) and are going to hold up the online check in line because of it...you probably shouldn't do it.

Disney movie nights are a must. We also look through all our old albums of previous trips. I tend to play a lot of Disney music right before we leave too. Oh yeah, and shop for new Disney clothes! I then plan out all my outfits to which DH thinks I'm crazy... But, let's be honest, he married me for my planning skills! :rotfl2:

9 days to go!!!!!! I just did online check-in! :cheer2:

We're leaving from the Manchester/Greater Boston airport (which is technically in Londonderry).

I was really surprised when I booked our hotel for the night before the flight that one of the closest hotels was in Londonderry! Coming from ME, I am usually coming down 93 to 293 and go past the mall, so I was looking for a hotel over that way, but found the Sleep Inn in Londonderry was even closer than the "mall area" or downtown Manchester hotels. And to be honest, all the Manchester hotels looked really scary. Even the "nice" ones like Marriot and Hilton! Sleep Inn sounds scary, but the pictures online look really really nice. I guess we'll see....its only for a few hours and it will save us 2 hours of driving before dawn!

I have stayed at the Sleep Inn. It is not the closest AT ALL, nor is it the most comfortable. The Best Western Executive Court is closer and is cheaper, and is probably more comfortable. Homewood Suites is literally in the airport parking lot and is AMAZING (I lived there for five months, so I really know what I am saying). There is a Springhill Suites or something right across the street that looks nice, too.

All three of the above places are safe and clean and have courtesy shuttles.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Disney tomorrow, the day is finally here.
You're all packed and ready; now it's time to cheer.
Hope your trip is merry and filled with special things.
And that you are surrounded with the magic that Disney brings!

Have a Great WDW vacation - cantwaittoseemickey

Disney traditions prior to leaving for WDW??? Hmmm I guess I would have to say checking and re-checking to make sure I have all of my trip documentation (i.e. reservations, dining times, car rental, air check in, etc) with me and in order.. I start checking all of this about 1--2 weeks prior to leaving. Okay I know.... but I would just hate to get somewhere and I have before and not have what I need and my trip either is disrupted or becomes a little more expensive...

I just finished watching Disney Must Do's on You Tube. I never knew that existed! Neat things learned here..

Question of the day....

What is your favorite Disney smell?

I have two....I love the smell of the orange grove in Soarin. It really reminds me of Horizons as a child. Must love the smell of oranges. :goodvibes. I also love the smell of walking under the train station into MK and smelling the popcorn. Don't even really like popcorn all that much, but I love the smell while we are there.
