July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

I just put my lanyard (princess of course) in my purse with my annual pass and my Tangled M&G fast pass (since they were a no-show the last time I was there). My husband's will join it in a little bit.

Ok, where is the decorate your room thread? I went and got a whole bunch of Mickey Head paint samples and put magnets behind them so they would stick to the door, but aside from that I'm at a loss. I still have a whole new Home Depot I can hit up in VA!

Oooh that magnet idea is a good idea ^_^ Though, I don't think I have magnets to use ... we'll see.

Decorating Resort Room Link
Ta da! It's a long thread. I haven't read through all of it but I have come upon some nice little gems during my browsing ^_^

As the family turns.....my brother is backing out of our family group trip.

*sigh*...it's probably for the best but ACK!

It's OK...now we know we can cancel the Crystal Palace lunch and stick with breakfast which is what we wanted to do in the first place. The only bummer part about the whole thing is we couldn't get a before opening ADR, which we could have done previously. *sigh*

If I were you I'd keep cheking for that early ADR. I know we had cancelled almost all of our reservations about 30 days out. Decided with some family situation going on to take this trip more on the cuff and not be tied to alot of reservations. I was told that cancellations don't show up until the next day. Don't know if it true but that is what the CM said so check first thing each morning until you leave and you might get lucky.

:sad1:Sorry your family trip didn't work out but Disney will be there for another trip together.

Well, I've printed out the park hours, ADRs, etc. I just have to pack my carry-on, some bras (which are drying), some shirts (which are drying), cameras, phone, chargers, etc. Because my husband doesn't want to check a bag (cheap-o ;) ) and he will only pack a little suitcase, I get to put his toiletries in my suitcase. I think that he should buy me something really nice since I'm giving up space. :lmao:

I can't believe I've been up for an hour and gotten nothing accomplished except for writing lists.!
I feel that way constantly, except my lists aren't even complete yet!

I'm beginning to wonder what I,actually my DH, got me into....
That's a lot of car time!!! I understand stress, but we'll be fine! Just keep swimming!

So after reading the 'decorate your room' thread a week ago, I finally went to Home Depot and got the mickey head paint color samples
One of the best memories I have of prepping for our 1st trip was making signs for our windows. I got a bunch of those, printed some DISigns of characters with VT (Virginia Tech) face tattoos that says Everyone loves a Hokie Girl, and a VT Mickey for DH, and we each created our own signs. I covered them w/ clear contact paper and had a sign (like Julie's ticker) with FLIPFLOPMOM that another friend designed for me on mine, the girls wrote FLIPFLOPMOM's DD on theirs, and DH has FLIPFLOPMOM's DH on his. They were so fun! I keep them in my Disney tub! Sometimes, we stick them in the car windshield on the way down!

Oh haha no no, more like it prepares you so it won't happen, so you will do things to ensure it won't. Or, if by some weird reason you DO sprout wings and fly, you'll remember the dream and know how to flap!
With a feather in your teeth, of course! :dumbo:

For whatever reason, it always falls to the originator of the package to instigate the claim.
Nice. Any new news? UT going to instigate a claim?

:Thanks - yes, I have had that same thought!!
Kinda like - what do they know that we don't?

My daughter saw her pirate outfit packed and she asked me why I was packing it.... uh.... just because
Just in case you feel like wearing it down there, sweetie!

I wish that would work with her! She is the never ending question asker! She actually never stops talking, aside from being asleep ...
Be thankful. My four year old talks, and sometimes yells, in her sleep. 2 nights ago it ranged from "I want chips and dip" to "STOP IT SISSY!!!!" :rolleyes1

I think my dd has figured out we're going this summer
That stinks! We told our kids in '09 as part of their Easter gift, their baskets were WDW stuff. DD had asked bunches of times if we were going, b/c "you talk about Disney all the time now Mom." "I know honey, it's just that I really want to take you there, but it takes YEARS to plan a trip." That stinks that the neighbor told her. But I'm sure confirming it will be a wonderful experience for her!!!princess:

Not that your counting or anything Which car has more room and is more comfortable on a long drive?
I've decided that although DD #2 didn't behave enough to earn TPL, I'm going to take her to the Main Street Barber shop for some pixie dust...and DD #3 is going there as well. She can't even do TPL yet because she's not yet 3 and I don't want them to miss out on some of the fun.
Well, the SUV is MUCH more comfy and has more room that the flea flicker Kia. SUV is older, more miles, so there's a fear factor there. Reminds me, need to check and make sure I renewed AAA! Have you done Barber Shop yet? We did it our first two years, it's soooo much fun! DH even gets a haircut! Something I did NOT know until we were waiting in line - a lady came in and said she had 9:15 appts made through concierge at all sports, and they took her ahead of those of us waiting.

I hope dreams mean nothing LOL I had a dream I was pregnant the other night!
Lucy, you got some 'splainin to do! :rotfl:

So I just cleaned some of the house :) Progress!
:worship: I can't seem to do anything but spin wheels!

We will be at Bay Lake Tower for two weeks from July 9th to 22nd.
We'll leave the light on for you! We check out of BLT on the 9th! I can't wait either!

Here's the one I thought was great. I may be able to entertain myself last this afternoon by re-reading these jewels.
thank for that link! I had to read it to DH last night. Which might explain why I can't get anything done!

I just need to add bras to my pile and then need to add undies to my hubby's (had to order him new ones... the desert seems to really age his undies more quickly!!)
I remembered this year that I need to pack about 2-3 times more undies than I think we need. Extra showers because of the heat, all the water rides etc, DH ran out and I was washing them in the sink and using a hair dryer to dry them!

in 11 days, I will be on the road on my way to VA.
Strangers in the night.... I'll be leaving VA in 7!

I just put my lanyard (princess of course) in my purse with my annual pass and my Tangled M&G fast pass (since they were a no-show the last time I was there). My husband's will join it in a little bit.
How exciting! I made the executive decision NOT to tell my girls about Tangled M&G this year. Hope they don't see it. I just don't have that in me right now!

As the family turns.....my brother is backing out of our family group trip.
I agree to keep checking for ADRs, stuff pops open every day! Sorry he's backing out... But you'll have a blast!

Because my husband doesn't want to check a bag (cheap-o ;) ) and he will only pack a little suitcase, I get to put his toiletries in my suitcase. I think that he should buy me something really nice since I'm giving up space.
Definitely deserves something. Maybe nice jewelry, since it won't take up much space in your already crowded bag??? Are you going to check in to the thread when you are there? Can't wait to meet you at AK on the 6th. We'll be easy to spot. DH is ... Pooh, I'm Tigger, well that particular bounciness could be attributed to all of us. Anyway. DD will be the 11 year old with an attitude begging for another ride on EE, and DD2 will be in a brown and pink stroller, or running away from it! Have a safe flight!

Well, 1 more assignment done!!!! 2 to go!!!! DH did our dollar store run, since he works closer to it. Got some ponchos, glow bracelets so we can keep up with the girls at night better amidst all the :crowded:, some snacks for the car trip, red, white and blue leis to wear on the 4th, and a coloring book or something for the girls in the car.

He's going to service the car today, (used to be a service tech) and will see how he feels about the guts of the car holding up. Then, we'll make our final decision about what we are driving, so we can decide about packing.

I spent time yesterday reading our reviews, dining and trip, from last year. It was really fun to walk down memory lane! And educational, because I had forgotten about Dh running out of undies, certain dishes I liked and disliked, etc. If you do TR's this trip, I encourage you to do a regrets page! I always do my reviews as soon as I get back, sometimes start them before I ever go to bed! Anyway, it was nice to do it while it's fresh, you know, instead of after you've given birth and forgotten the experience. :rolleyes1 It helped me put things in perspective, like how I had regretted not being photopass stalkers, not giving the kids and DH pool time, etc.

I'm going to consult my to-do list I had in my PTR for my first trip, probably still applies, so that will give me a jumping off point! Pretty sure I won't have time to clean pennies with hot sauce this year, though!

Last night I realized I can't pack pretty much any of dh's clothes. He has no extra clothes to pack. He'll be wearing it. DD and I have more clothes than him (of course!) so I can pack some of our stuff. Him? No.

FlipFlopMom has a point. I kind of do remember that from our last summer trip the fact that we need extra underwear. I remember, also, going into restaurants and actually being cold in the a.c., so I'm going to bring a little sweater for the park bag. We're going small this year, dh is going to carry this one shoulder back pack thing. He figures it will be big enough for ponchos and water. And perhaps my sweater?? :rotfl:

It is finally, finally the last day of school. I didn't think it would ever get here. I sound like one of the kids! I am starting to resent the alarm clock and could use a break from it!

Have a great trip Julie!

We will be at Bay Lake Tower for two weeks from July 9th to 22nd.

We'll be there July 18-22 at CBR! Soooooo excited!!!!:cool1:

Can't believe people from the July thread are starting their trips. It seemed like it would never get here:goodvibes

So excited!

We hit 10 days today!

Welcome to you both! If either of you would like to share your ADRs just post them, we have a list going on page 1 to see who is eating where and when!

Good luck with the ADR and don't give up. I once got a Le Cellier reservation over spring break just 3 weeks out.......

Happy last day of school!!!!

For those that are still clothes shopping, this weekend Old Navy is having a tank top sale. I'm planning on bringing DD.

I did make one ADR for Planet Hollywood at 2PM on 7/14. I thought we may as well use the $15 voucher we received in our package.

So I have been cleaning and packing all day! Realized I need to get my hubby some socks, and maybe 1-2 pairs of jean shorts ... ordered him some Teva sandles too!

My kiddos are pretty much packed ... need to add undies for my son (one of his presents he is getting is new Mickey undies, so I have to wait to wash them!)

I just need to add bras to my pile and then need to add undies to my hubby's (had to order him new ones... the desert seems to really age his undies more quickly!!)

Yeah I realized this is probably a TMI post but I am so excited to pack!!! Much more excited to pack than to clean ;)

Def not TMI, I think everyone I know wears undies.

Nah, not TMI... how many times do many of us ask if we packed our undies? I always worry I didn't! :scared1: :rotfl2:

I'm taking a brief break from cleaning, but that break is almost over. Drat! ;)

I cleaned the downstairs last night, now it is up to DD to keep it clean until we leave.

I just put my lanyard (princess of course) in my purse with my annual pass and my Tangled M&G fast pass (since they were a no-show the last time I was there). My husband's will join it in a little bit.

That reminds me to make sure DS packs his pins.

So excited!

We hit 10 days today!

So sorry that your brother is backing out. I would try at least once a day to get that ADR, you never know when someone is going to cancel theirs.

According to your ticker you should be on your way. Hope you have a safe and magical trip.

LOL! Not TMI! After deployments we always throw out all of DHs socks, tshirts, and drawers. Too much sand, sweat, dirt, and other stuff. :scared1: We leave in two weeks and two days but I haven't packed anything! I have a general idea which outfits are going for DD and I but I prolly won't drag out a suitcase until a day or so before- we have really nosy and determined cats!:rotfl:

JULIE! HOW EXCITING! OUR FIRST JULY PERSON TO GO! WOOHOO!! :cool1::cool1:

She should know that you cannot put a baby on a schedule until they are about 1 year old...anything before that goes out the window :rotfl2:

Are you kidding me? They still get upset because they read ALL THE BOOKS and she doesn't behave like ALL THE BOOKS said. My mom says she keeps reminding them that my niece didn't read the books! ;)

Breathe in, breathe out. ;)

Nah, not TMI... how many times do many of us ask if we packed our undies? I always worry I didn't! :scared1: :rotfl2:

One time, on a weekend trip, my husband forgot his bag...

Speaking of personal gear... I have a LOT of questions!
-Socks! Do you pack extras? How many? We WILL be in socks and sneakers all week, due to injuries and stuff. Do I pack 6 pair? 12 pairs? 9 pairs? (same for undies!)
-How about bras - should I plan on handwashing them each night or just pack one a day? :lmao:

Also, I'm a total failure as a girl. I don't wear make-up. However, what had been diagnosed as rosacea is just EXTREMELY dry skin. Putting on moisturizer in the morning (with a very low SPF) has done WONDERS for my skin... should I continue to use it and then top it off with a stronger sunblock?!

WHAT AM I FORGETTING TO BUY?! I bought SPF lip balm! I bought a portable package of hand wipes!

I'm a total failure too! The only make-up I own is mascara and that only gets used once a year...or less. So at least we don't have to worry about our faces melting half way through the morning. I am addicted to lip balm though. My daily lip balm is SPF 15 but I'm fair skinned and a little worried about my lips burning or worse blistering (the horror!). I think you should continue to use your moisturizer and then add something stronger on top, just use a product geared towards sensitive skin.

My granddaughter Abygail turns 4 today and she just asked if we could go to Disney World today instead of waiting. Sure wish I lived close enough to make that possible.

Have any of you had luck with the Disney Gift cards you buy at stores that aren't Disney (Dillons/Kroger). Want to get Aby one for her Birthday but don't want to find out it doesn't work aftr we get there. Maybe I'll just give her cash, that might be safer.

So excited that it is getting closer just hope I'll be ready when it actually gets here.:dance3:

My daughter turns 7 next week. We're having her party tomorrow. She asked for a Mickey & Minnie party. She's also asked both her grandmas and a few other people for cash for her birthday to take to Disney World. This is a child who usually spends her allowance ($2 a week) on dollar stuff at Target as soon as she gets it. She's been saving all her money for months now, sold some of her toys at a yard sale and made a little more $, won a coloring contest at school for which she got $2, and she's managed to save about $40 so far!

Love, love, love Old Navy! Unfortunately, they closed BOTH of the Old Navy's that were near us, so now we have to make a day of it and go to the mall an hour away just to go. Nice thing is, there's also the closest Disney Store there :cutie:

I know, I can't believe it's time for the July trips to start, either! I just like not getting up quite so early:)

Happy last day of school!!!!

thanks!

I, too, am pretty much a failure. I do use Bare Minerals when I go out in the summer. DD doesn't like things rubbed on her, so we use no rub spray sunscreen. I put moisturizer with SPF under it, too.

I made a reservation at the Pirate League for DD. She told me this morning that next time we go to WDW she wants to be a pirate, not a princess. I would say she knows.

Now I do not know if she will actually do the PL, because she doesn't like strangers touching her. She does, however, love make up. You can see her inner war when she gets to a face painting place...make up....someone touching my face....looking like a pirate...someone touching my face. We'll see what happens, I guess. If she doesn't want to do it, I will make sure I cancel on time to not get my cc charged!

I got a reservation at 9:40. So this is my perfect excuse for skipping Rapunzel. We won't make the first m & g and it's going to be too crowded after that. Buh-Bye Rapunzel :thumbsup2:cool1:
