Welcome Betsy!

We'll be at SSR July 11-17.

My bil and sil- Dean and Mary Jo- have canceled thie cruise. I'm sorry they won't be joining us but they're saving to buy a house.

OK, so who can meet at Artist's Palette (SSR) or the Turf Bar and Grill (SSR) - two families so far staying there or GF (JoAnn #1) - what would be easier for everyone on, let's say, Thursday? JoAnn #2, SoG...who else in Disney that wants to meet the famous "I Love Lucy" (NOT:sad2: :rotfl2: :scared1: )

opinions please::worship: for Thursday, we don't need to commit to a long period of time, just a short meet and greet before we get on The Magic!

Lucy and Bob = don't care

All my plans are up in the air, until I get TrayTray situated........still waiting to hear where she's going.........if she goes to Miami, she can't come which means I may change my ressie.......I still plan to go to the GG but I haven't confirmed, I'm still trying to figure out how many of us are going to be there that night..........:scared1:

see 'ya on the ship, Monica!

Oh, Monica...if you need a suggestion? for dinner - Bob and I ate at The Grill the one and only time we went to Port the night before...fun place by the water (you see this restaurant as the ship is sailing out)

I agree it is a great place!!! On our May '06 Blabbermouth cruise, a group of us met for breakfast!!! Anyone know if it still does serve breakfast? It doesn't say on the website.

We're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn the night before the cruise and staying a night in a 2 bedroom a the Animal Kingdom Villas after.

Here is a few other things I purchase/do:

I go to Walmart in the camping section and get the glow sticks (you know, the ones the kids use on Halloween night). I get one for each night - you pop it at night and leave it in the bathroom, and it makes the BEST nightlight. The next morning, you just throw it away. You can usually get them for about 50 cents each if you buy a package of them.

I go to my local dollar store, and get rain ponchos. You can usually get 2 for $1.00. They lay very flat, but are good if its raining and we are in port.

Over-the-door shoe holder is a MUST for me. I put it on the bathroom door, and everything goes it it.

Sunscreen - that stuff is expensive - start buying one can each payday, and it will not seem to hurt your budget so much (I just bought one can and it was $8.00!)

I also about now (okay, I really do it EVERY MONDAY MORNING LOL!), I start going to: http://instoresnow.walmart.com/In-Stores-Now-Free-Samples-And-Trials.aspx and start getting free samples. By cruise time, I have samples of shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, etc, that I can take with me. Best of all, it was free!

I also start looking at Trip Insurance about now. I do not use the one the cruise line offers, but I use another one (send me a PM and I'll give you the name of it). It will literally save you $$ if you do not use the cruise ships insurance. I think our 7 days cruise (plus flying/driving to the cruise line) was about $90.00 for the this cruise in July.

Small fan - I do not like a quiet room, but I do not like to hear hallway noise -
so I buy a small fan (target has one for $16.00 that I really like). This fan goes into my luggage first, and then everything else goes in it.

Power strip. Enough said

I just now started making my envelopes for tips. I leave a small tip every morning in the sink. In addition to those envelopes, another site has suggested this:

Dining Room Server --> $4.00 per day (total for cruise for 2 people would be $56.00)
Assistant Server --> $3.00 per day
Head Server --> $1.00 per day
Stateroom Host/Hostess --> $4.00 per day

So, for two people cruising - that is $168.00 --> If I have that all in one envelope, then I can just pay that on my account once I am on board, and its taken care of.

Oh, last cruise, I went to Home Depot (or maybe it was Lowes). They have paint samples in the paint department that are in the shape of Mickey. I got some of those and put on my door for decorations. Not sure if they still have them or not, but I will stop in and see if they do.

Thats all I can think of this morning - I know there is more LOL!

To add to the packing list:
Small fan those rooms can get hot when everyone is showering especially an inside room.
Travel sizes rolls of toilet paper and paper towels.
Chapstick
A noise machine to drowned out people snoring or ship noise
highliters to mark navigators
premade address labels to save time filling out the luggage tags
dollar bills for room service tip
Clips to hold the curtain divider together
A shower organizer to hold shampoo, bath gel, razors, scrubbies so they don't go flying everywhere
Metal hook for back of door to hang lanyards on
Ziploc bags in different sizes. Great for not losing small souvenirs and holding wet items.
Water shoes to wear at castaway cay

This is all I can think of for now. I actually have a five page packing list that is detailed. I list everything because if i don't we forget it.

Pre cruise we are staying at SSR. Thursday is our MK day but the only plan we have so far is Breakfast at CP. We could meet just about anywhere on property. Of course Friday is the Illuminations dinner/dessert. For the new people that have joined us if you are staying on property we have a grand gatherings number and have an event planned for Friday night. If you want to join in let me know and I'll get you the info.

We are easy to spot there are three of us one is a very large mostly bald young male. I'm usually in a wheel chair and mom and I usually are wearing matching shirts. If you see us in the parks please come say hi. We don't bite at least not usually.

We are going to be at Hollywood Studios on Thursday morning, but had planned a quiet - down afternoon for the kids. So we are available to meet folks for dinner or drinks, etc. Just let us know where and when.

Ok, so as not to be thrown off our thread......I FINALLY FAXED THE BRUNCH REQUEST.......if you were not on the original list, I can PM the info if you want to request a second DIS brunch for our group.....:goodvibes

Just to verify.......

Lawall
Fisher
William
Lockard
Graziano
Hopf

are those who have requested a seat at the brunch that hopefully we will get.....I still need to book the Grand Gatherings ressie.......Lissie, could you please post the number again so I can call this week.......

:wizard:

JoAnn,

Any idea on when we'll find out the date and time of the brunch? I will need to coordinate Flounders, so just curious.

Also, can someone direct me to the shore excursion information?

I'm sitting alone at home on a Saturday night, just took myself out to Panera Bread for dinner (MY FAVORITE!) - DH and older DS are working tonight (DH in retail, DS in restaurant working), my younger DS is at a friend's house all night. I am NOT complaining about the loneliness, believe me. The washer is running, my headphones will soon be on and I'll be watching my Mamma Mia AGAIN, but on the computer this time, noone is home to operate the DVD!

JoAnn #2, do you know what Panera Bread is? How many do they have where you are stationed?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Keep Thursday in mind for meeting up with Lucy, OK:cool1: ....details later.

HEADS UP: I stopped at Walmart tonight for a few groceries, and in the travel cosmetic section, I found individual packets of liquid Tide, great for those of us staying at Disney and want to get our laundry done or if you plan on doing laundry on the ship. There were only two packets left on the shelf.

Does everyone turn their clocks ahead tonight? (JoAnn #2, you can answer that if you want....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

We'll know 25-30 days out.................I requested the first available sea day but it's first come, first served. Can you reserve and then cancel later if you don't need it?

Trying to rub it in huh????

No Panera in 1,000 mile radius that I'm aware of. My parents got me hooked on that when they lived in NE. Here, we get regular white bread or baguettes (French bread). If I want whole wheat, I need to import the flour and make it myself. :headache:

But at least I didn't have to give up an hour of sleep last night! :cheer2: No Daylight savings time here! So now, I'm just 4 hours ahead of the East coast.

We had lunch at Panera yesterday. Yes the clocks go ahead. It is now 6:38 but it's really 5:38..... this just gets confusing.

Just a thought, what about listing the pre-cruise meets, brunch information, and any other stuff in the first post? It might be easier to reference and add names/info/events. Who started the thread, would you be willing to update?

The family is getting excited about the cruise, I've been peppered with questions. My parents will be at the Radisson. Anyone who would like to meet in the lobby Friday night, Dad already was asking if there were plans to meet. He's getting into the spirit. We'll have two teachers in our group - my friend who is a H.S. Biology teacher and my father a retired HS math teacher (still a jr college instructor), they'd love to exchange stories!!! Even though we will be at the Ron Jon with my db, dsil, and dn(7) we'll join too!

I've also given them the link to the thread - I'll have to behave - they just might show up ;)

I'm not sure what park we're headed to onThursday but anywhere everyone decides is fine. We'll be there!

where is everyone else? Lucy has noone to talk to....same old people chatting, come on people, we're getting close...let's introduce ourselves!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
(or re-introduce oursleves:banana:   ) - I looked at the list of cruisers and many of you haven't responded in awhile:sad2: :sad2: ...just stop by and say "yes, we are still going:yay: :yay: :yay: , but with you Lucy, we can't get a word in edge-wise:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Still wanna hear from the 'chatters'....I couldn't survive without this thread, honestly. I just can't wait to meet everyone.

OK, here is the threat....I'm gonna back off for awhile on chatting:scared1: , if you don't start 'threading'.....(wonder how long this is gonna last:rotfl2: )
