Curfew on the Treasure

As noted above, there is no official curfew on DCL (as far as I know). After frequent Disney cruises we sailed on Utopia of the Seas last weekend and I was surprised to see a "Junior Cruisers Curfew" in the app. For 17 and under it noted 1:00am.
I think most mainstream lines have a curfew of 1 am for under 18, at least ncl, rcl, carnival…

I'm fairly certain they do/did it at 10pm and midnight. However, it's been three years since we've been on the Wish. But when we did sail on her, lots of people were out there at midnight. Plus, it's not like they need to dedicate any Cast Members to facilitate it like other activities.
I was on the Treasure last week and they did it about 7:00 pm. At least, they did on the one night I happened to be in the Grand Hall (night 5?).

A kiss goodnight at 7pm???!!!

If I'm ever going to sleep at 7pm, it may as well be for a final dirt nap.

There was no curfew on the Treasure recently. My 17 year old regularly returned at 1:30 AM. On the final night, it was 4:30 am. He found a solid group of friends, and on the last night, it was seriously hard to say their final goodbyes, so they just sat in the lobby talking. Thank goodness for FaceTime, this group became friends for life. A fantastic bunch of young people from all parts of the world. Never once was I concerned about what they might be up to.
My son started doing that at a lot younger age of 14. I was never concerned about it, but he was always very grumpy on debarkation day. D lounge is another all night hang out place.

Can't speak to the Treasure but there was not curfew on the Magic, but most everyone was in their staterooms by 10 pm. We were on a NYE cruise New Years Eve was amusing. Big celebration in the Atrium at Midnight. Atrium empty by 12:10 am. But that is not unique to Disney, my most recent cruises on Celebrity and HAL, the public rooms were pretty much empty by 11 pm. Far cry from my first cruise 45 years ago when the night club didn't even OPEN until 1:30 am.
Back when they really did have midnight buffets... that were pretty good. Of course the cabins were so small and those fold down bunks so uncomfortable... who would want to go back to their cabin?

Clearly the Love Boat TV Show only showed how the better half lived... as our first cruise was a very different experience. But still so much fun....

Actually, Disney staterooms were the biggest in the industry when we cruised Disney. My son was 15, and 6'2" and 200 pounds and found the pull down bunk very comfortable. And the split bathrooms were very handy for families. We are cruising on Princess in a few weeks, the actual bedroom area on the Enchanted Princess seems smaller than the Disney Magic. Princess on this ship decided to make sort of a walk in closet and dressing area between the bathroom and the sleeping area that takes up floor space. Yes, the Love Boat revolutionized the cruise industry. Sort of like what Gallo did for the wine industry. My first cruise was because of the Love Boat. I was working at a TV station and the show I was working on did a week of shows from a cruise ship because of the Love Boat. That was on the MS Mermoz, a French cruise line that did gourmet cruises. The staterooms on that ship were REALLY tiny. The food was amazing. Dinner had one sitting, and took 3 1/2 hours. No room service, no quick service restaurants on board, absolutely no other dining options than the MDR for all three meals, and then the Midnight buffet each night. Nothing like taking a cruise for free, actually, being paid to take a cruise.

Actually, I have my timing wrong--it was 5 pm! We were in line for photos before our dinner (first seating).

I never saw the 10:00 or midnight Kiss Goodnight, so perhaps it was different from that.

But as for going to sleep immediately afterwards, my 4.5yo was in fact losing his shpadoinkle by that time and had to be taken back to the stateroom to crash, so for him it was indeed a kiss goodnight00. He doesn't normally nap anymore, but cruising is apparently hard work for a preschooler. (He did awaken briefly for chicken tenders about 9 pm.)

Certainly, a "kiss goodnight" or any other activity taking place at or around midnight is not intended for a 4.5 yo.

However, at this point in DCL's existence, I believe there are a lot more guests on the ships traveling without young children than there were 10-15 years ago. You have tons of families now who began cruising regularly or semi-regularly with DCL when their kids were young some 10, 15, 20 years ago. And now that the children are older - adults, in many cases - these families continue to cruise with DCL...with and/or without the adult children (our 23 & 20 yo still love sailing DCL). This demographic - which I believe grows every year on DCL - could, and should, be better served with some activities that extend through midnight-1am.

What kind of activies? In the end that's just not what Disney is about, which is clear with the newer ships that really don't even have areas where most of those these of activities would be semi-private.
