Juan says "BAAAA!" - 12/24 - Our last few Disney hours. COMPLETE

We left off as our family was leaving MK for the night and monorailing (is that a verb?) it over to Epcot. We were not ready to call it a night!

The next day was our official Epcot day; however, it was being followed by the Wishes Dessert Party at night, so we deiced this was the perfect night to catch Illuminations at Epcot.

I LOVE this part of Epcot. As most of you know, we are a techy/geek family. This part of Epcot just feels cool to me, it's techy. The music, the large geometric shapes everywhere, the fountain, the light up sidewalk, Space Ship Earth and it's unique design...I remember our first time entering Epcot, both Joe and I were in awe...and we still always are!

I was so very happy to see the fountain working. It hasn't been on our last 2 trips! :sad2:

We didn't have much for goals this night. We'd just see where our feet led us.

Well....not very far and a vocal toddler noticed a splash pad...

At first it wasn't doing much

643640454_xJH4V-M.jpg

But soon enough!! There were quite a few kids in there that night, all much older than Henry, so he mostly hung out on the side.

We were there for probably about 30 minutes or so. Henry had a great time watching the other kids and getting a bit wet!

My stomach was starting to grumble and I knew exactly what I wanted.

Oh yes. ::yes::

I had never eaten here, but had seen it's goods and read it's rave reviews. It was time!

After hoofing it around the WS, I was a tad bummed there was no air conditioning since it was still VERY warm out, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. I needed me some schwarma.

While waiting in line, I noticed a thing of beauty...

This was probably one of the longest lines I waited in all trip, but I eventually got my food - the chicken and lamb platter

643656158_HtMuY-M.jpg

Oh my, that is one BIG plate of food!

As soon as I took my first bite, I knew this was an excellent choice. Normally I probably wouldn't eat all of that food. I wasn't even hungry enough to eat it all.

But...

I did! Every single bite!! :rotfl: I couldn't stop. So.good. I think I might have shared a few bites with Henry (and possibly some with Joe since he "oooh"ed over my plate...).

I let Joe and Henry eat the baklava since I'm not a big fan. They highly enjoyed it.

We were at a table way in the back just outside the restaurant, it was a bit dark in that spot, so I ate by the light of a glow stick, but I didn't mind one bit. MoRockin' was playing, I was in Epcot, and eating some divine food. Life was good.

After we ate we scoped out a spot for Illuminations, right near Germany. Joe decided he needed a brat.

He's been raving about these brats since our Disneymoon in '06 (I honestly didn't think they were anything to write home about...). He was excited to finally eat one again! Btw, this is a TERRIBLE use for a CS credit. He got a brat with kraut, a drink and that is IT. I was annoyed that there wasn't a real side, but the kraut was a "side". All well!

Illuminations started....and I started to snap pictures...

And that is IT.

Henry started to get a bit fussy when the fireworks started.

Then to full out crying.

So we backed away from the water front and found a seat on a tree planter near the pavilion. I held him as Joe noshed on his brat. There was a tree obstructing our view, but we could see enough. We enjoyed the music and what we could see of the fireworks.

And, I enjoyed a certain little one falling asleep on my shoulder. :lovestruc

Up next: From baby to little boy.

We adore Hungry, Hungry Hippos at our house so I got the joke right away. Soooo funny!!! Can you believe we have never done Jungle Cruise? I have no idea why but it is on the definite to-do list. :)

I think Henry would enjoy Hungry Hungry Hippos - I gotta scope it out at Target, perhaps for Christmas...

You gotta do the JC! It's such a blast, your kiddos will really enjoy it I bet!

One of these days I'm so going to eat at the Tangarine Cafe it just looks so yummy and you are right I have heard some great reviews about it...oooh it makes me hungry right now LOL!!!

Another great update Brook!!

Loved the Jungle Cruise update!

I wanted to go through Fantasyland to look at a gift shop there, the dump shop of Mickey's Philharmagic for boys clothing, but as we were walking that way, the park officially closed, MNSSHP was starting and we were not allowed to enter Fantasyland. I explained to the CM I just wanted to look at a gift shop, but it was a no-go.
Doh!

Catch the monorail to Epcot!!! Sounds good to me!!
Woohoo! Awesome plan!

Great evening at Epcot as well. But I gotta say, I think I would have gone with Joe’s dinner selection. I LOVE me some brats.

Wow, another update?! You are on a roll now! I love that area in Epcot too. My sisters and I always liked those lights in the sidewalk by Innoventions. So cool!

Yum...I love the Tangierine Cafe...love that combo plate...:goodvibes...I had to just go get a snack looking at it...:lmao:

You got picked in the Laugh Floor...fun...Henry sounds like he was a hoot...

I love the jokes on the Jungle Cruise too...Hungry, Hungry Hippos...:lmao:

I'm sorry about the corn dogs...:confused3...you'll have to make up for that in December...:thumbsup2

Yeay! You loved Tangierine!!! I could eat there every day, I think!

Your nighttime pictures of Epcot are just gorgeous! I would love to be there right this minute!!!

I am starving right now and that food looks so yummy! :worship:

I love your nighttime Epcot photos, you captured the spirit of that area with the geeky stuff as you put it. ;)

I just read thru your trip report and I have to say its very good. Youve got a great family and I can see you all had a blast.. I cannot wait to get back to the world... Have a fun trip in DEC, its really close.. :thumbsup2

Awww, poor little guy! But glad you had a great meal!

We are mostly looking at a BEFORE land portion and not much (if anything) for after due to the higher cost in DVC points for later December. However, if a $99 Swolphin deal is pulled again, we might do a few days after as well to hang out!

I cannot remember the price on the toys...I want to say like $10.95 or so...I can check for you again in 36 days! :goodvibes

I understand about the slacking with the TR! :rotfl: I need to get mine done in 36 days and we are only on day TWO. :lmao: Now I'm slacking on reading everyone else's again....

What is the C25K program?

Just so you know the DVC does get more expensive, but it only is a point a night more expensive it looks like, just in case you wanted to play more afterward. :yay:

Oh don't worry about checking for me, but thanks for the offer!

Yeah I am slacking, because I have approx 300 days to finish it, and I am almost done. I think I may write our TR from 2008 (Aaron's 1st trip to Disney World) I wanted to write it when we came back but I never got the courage.
I am so envious of you! After your December/January trip when will your next one be?

The C25K program is...C25K, is a fantastic program that's been designed to get just about anyone from the couch to running 5 kilometers or 30 minutes in just 9 weeks. And I started doing it last night!

Love the new chapter! I  Epcot!

At least someone in the family knows how to use a TS credit! I think that chicken and lamb combo is one of the most bangs for your buck and you made me drool...I want it again! :thumbsup2

Whew! Finally caught up! That day at MK looks amazing! I cannot believe how light the crowds were and how much you got accomplished. It totally proves the "Show up at 4:00 for your 7:00 party" theory! I love the photos of Henry at Buzz. It's just amazing to see that much difference in such a short time! That Hungry Hungry Hippos joke cracked me up! I've never heard that one before.

Eating at Tangerine Cafe is on my list for our next trip AND I might just luck out, I am the only one who loves Middle Eastern food.

A night at EPCOT, and yes I think monorailing is a word...or at least a DIS word.

You food looks yummy!

Your food looks soooo yummy! One of these days I have to try Tangerine! DH is not an adventurous eater by any means and I don't think he'd go for it! But With sooo many other choice in WS he could find something I'm sure!

I'm sorry Henry wasn't into Illuminations! Poor kiddo and poor Mommy and Daddy!

Sounds like a lovely way to spend the evening! Poor little Henry wore himself out in the fountains!
