I just saw in All Ears that Journey into Narnia opens December 9. Our MGM day is the day before, and the 9th is our last day in the parks-- anyone think they might do a soft opening? I don't want to miss it, but I don't want to have to make a special trip to MGM our last day there.

My guess would be no.

Unlike a ride, they don't need to test it before opening.

They are coordinating the opening with the opening of the movie.

I'd still check the day before you leave, but I would guess not. Sorry.

Make the trip, re-arrange your schedule.

That's pretty much what I figured. Thanks.

Oh, I will-- it's definitely worth it to me. I was just hoping not to have to. Thanks.

Last question-- any guesses on whether the Narnia attraction will open 12/9 with the rest of the park, or if they'll have an opening later in the day? I want to make sure I plan our day to accommodate its opening-- MGM's a half day for us, and I don't want to be there first thing in the morning and Narnia doesn't open until noon!

The Chronicles of Narnia.....The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The wonderful book has been made into a movie.

We just got back on Sunday and we stumbled upon a wonderful opportunity at MGM. All four of the child actors from the movie were there making a promotional commercial for the movie. Our kids got to participate as extras in the commericial with the four stars. What a treat. Gotta love MGM, you never know what will be going on in that park!! :goodvibes

Is this a "The Making Of.." thing, like Haunted Mansion was? I've never heard of Journey into Naria :guilty:

That is really great - it's the 'unscripted' things that make a trip wonderful. Now you'll be keeping an eagle eye on the TV to see the commercials! :teeth:

From MousePlanet:
On December 9, as the movie it promotes opens, the new Journey Into Narnia: Creating The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe attraction will allow guests to enter the world of Narnia through a giant wardrobe. Located on the same soundstage that most recently housed sets from the Haunted Mansion movie, guests entering the set will be surrounded by a wintry landscape, enormous trees and a replica of the lamppost, as seen in the movie. The White Witch's castle and Mr. Tumnus' house will be visible in the distance. A gallery displaying costumes, maquettes, storyboards, props, etc. will serve as the attraction's exit. We're hearing that the attraction will be in soft openings before December 9, but that is not confirmed at press time"
I'll be hoping it opens a little early. I know another Diser was told MidNovember for soft openings.

If its opening on the 9th is it just going to be for one day?? Or is it going to be lasting a while cause I am at MGM on the 13th

Yes, how long will it be there? I would love to walk through the giant wardrobe!

Wait, so what exactly is this?? I was reading and trying to piece to together what it is. Will it be a sit down show at MGM, a theater? or on stage? :confused3 Just curious. :p

I too am hoping for a soft opening anytime before dec. 4th, the day we have to leave disney.

Will this be a permanent attraction or just a promo type thing? We won't be going back until May or Oct. of '06, and I know my DS would love to see it. Will it still be around?

It is called backstage pass and it is usually open year round. They set it up with different props and things from new movies. They usually only close it while they are taking down the old movie and putting up things from the new movie. It will be up for a while, but I don't know if they have specific dates.

I called Disney the other day and he said how long it would stay at Disney MGM depended on the movie's success. He said when Haunted Mansion the movie came out, they did the same thing and the sets stayed up for at least 8 months. AND THAT MOVIE STUNK! haha

What was the last movie they featured in Backstage Pass? I don't remember seeing anything like that for a movie when we were there. That was in April.
