We need to stop agreeing or sounding alike. People will get confused LOL.

I usually quote and respond to whoever..without even bothering to see who it is. So if I am on the oposite of someone with my response, I don't even know who it was and I just move on LOL. Next day I may agree (which I'm doing more and more to you talu (yep, I looked to see who I was responding to this time)..there goes my rep LOL!).

OMG Doris! I think you just channeled me with phrase! How many times have i said that?

FYI to everyone, I tend to post what I think about a given discussion. Once in a while I will quote someone I am agreeing with. Rarely I quote and reply directly to someone that I don't agree with,,,I may give my opinion, but I don't go head to head with their exact post as people usually find that combative (unless it is someone I know that can handle it) I usually just say what I think and skip over the ones I totally disagree with so as not to get my blood pressure up. ;)

I really think that you guys expect too much from Kate....finding fault with her because her smile isn't genuine while she's waiting to dance....?????....if I were sitting there instead of her, I'd be puking my guts out in a bucket....she's got to be terrified....I think she did much better last night and showed a genuine concern for the "task" that Tony has been given this season...she knows her limitations but she's not backing down....we'd all do well to latch onto a little of her spunk....

Her smile doesn't bug me and last night she looked genuinely happy. I've always thought she is very driven and determined. Those are great qualities so I agree, we could do well with some of that.

I saw several celebs who looked very serious and weren't smiling even though the cameras were rolling. Particulary at the end of the show where they play the theme music and all of the stars are standing with their partners.

Kate looked more relaxed both during her actual dance and while waiting around. There seems to be a more warm and fuzzy connection with Tony too so maybe she's thawing out.

I don't think Kate has made the wisest of choices regarding her kids but I have to say that she has a lot of pluck to go out there and dance on live tv. I couldn't do it. My dancing ability is pretty much zero and it would be very hard to deal with all the criticism from the public.

Not only did Kate dance better last night and she certainly seemed more at ease but there is a cute video of an interview afterwards where she discussed the kids watching her performances. They are what it's all about and it's nice to hear about them...

It's posted on people.com
After performing her best routine yet on Dancing with the Stars — a tango that only earned her 32 points out of a possible 60 — Kate Gosselin and her partner Tony Dovolani spoke to PEOPLE about her biggest fans — her eight little ones back home in Pennsylvania.

The kids, Gosselin says, watch “with popcorn every week” as their mom takes the ballroom.

Their take on Mom’s highly criticized routines? “They say I look beautiful. They’re glad I don’t scream in the middle of the routine like I do at home when I dance for them on Saturday mornings,” she says. “And Tony always looks very good.”

Adds Dovolani: “They’re my biggest fans.”

I disagree. This is about Kate's career. The children need and deserve their privacy.

I think everyone would agree that the children need and deserve their privacy but it was nice to see and hear Kate actually speak about them and not the divorce, how she will manage being a single mom doing all of it essentially on her own and the custody issues of the past week.

Didn't Tony say something about being surprised when Kate was speechless in the interview before they got their scores? I was only half watching, I can't handle her full dose anymore.

Yea, he said something to the effect of I cannot believs she is actually speechless for once, and then looked like he wanted those words back.

You know what, I would probably be puking too. I take a step-class, and I cringe when people stop in and watch. I can't imagine dancing in front of a audience, plus a tv audience. I have to at least give her the gumption for trying.

I have no doubt that she is scared to her wit's end.

FWIW--I'm not finding fault with her per se. As stated earlier, I ebb and flow with Kate. I simply observe her in the moment without all the excess baggage.

But since her survival is contingent upon a voting public with tabloids heck-bent on painting her as a shrew, it is normal to observe such things.

I'll go one step further. The "Bachelor" is scoring VERY well. But he is tanking. He is not coming across as likeable at all and very different to the suave sexy dude on the Bachelor. His attitude on the show, I am convinced is causing a problem with the votes.

So it isn't a stretch to make observations on them. If Kate looks PO'd in one shot and sweet as pie in the next, it will be noticed.

I have no idea if it is good or bad. I was just commenting that I noticed.

It will be well worth watching and following. Yes, people (including Kevin and Jodi) will be testifying. You may not like what they say, or even who they are, but many of them have first hand experience of child labor. And child exploitation.

May I just also add that we have some new posters here. Most are not new to the DIS, but are new to this thread. Can we please treat them with courtesy?

I am very much enjoying the new points of view, and I don't expect anyone to track back through pages of posts to *know* where I personally am coming from. Hey, we are not that cliquey, are we? Let's be nice.:)

Gotta step in and speak for myself here.

If I am referred to as blind, then I will comment on that.

Noone is expected to backtrack, but folks should have the courtesy to discuss issues without implying that those of us who observe differently must be blind.

As Doris said, we have mods for those issues if anyone feels they have been inappropriately treated.

I disagree. This is about Kate's career. The children need and deserve their privacy.

How does it invade their privacy for mom to be happy that her kids love to watch her on the show with popcorn?

Gotta say--yes they need privacy....

But is it really fair that Kate can never talk about them ever again for the rest of their lives?

They've not shown one blip of them on DWTS (yet?:scared1:)--but there is no harm for a mom gushing that her children are actually excited for her.

While her book is in the lowest of lowest of poor taste....

She is free to publish and speak about her kids as she chooses per her first amendment rights. Even some of the biggest anti-Kate's with their own sextuplets stoop to that level by publishing about the potty training troubles of their own brood. Difficult to condemn someone for doing something when one is guilty of doing it. (one of the biggest ironies I have come across in the anti-Kate crusades)

Anyway--to sum up this long winded post..not seeing how the children's privacy was invaded by that one People piece.

I think Jake's likability tanked when he chose Vienna. LOL.

that is true .. I might have been a little harsh on that point.

but, I stand by my comment that Kate appearing on DWTS is about her career and not the children.

Kate isn't the only mom on the show this season .. do they ask the other stars what their kids think? or do the stars mention their kids? I'd think they would, but I just thought of that.

Can't say that I do know.:confused3

I recall in the past that other stars have had children. They've shown them at rehearsals and the celeb did speak about how his/her family inclu. the kids was proud of them.

I remember in particular Emmitt Smith--I know someoen had younger children and I think he was one of them.

Of course it isn't there be all end all focus--but given Kate's source of fame, it probably is coming up more often than it is for a regular celeb. Though, I didn't think it was at an obnoxious level or anything. It just seems "celeb normal" to me.
