Well I for one buy mags with Kate on because YES I do admire and like her....Its not to watch the train wreck.

I admire the way she has dealt with everything thrown at her. Her own brother publically slating her ...her husband going totally off the rails.....The lies written about her...(iam sure not everything is true)...she has remained mostly strong and goal orientated throughout.

I admire and respect her.

Gheesh...I didn't know TLC was trying to make a show for Kate. I for one, will not be watching, but others of course can do as they wish. I find her decision making for her family to be irresponsible. Money isn't the most important thing in life and plenty of people with large families, even single mothers, manage to live happily without the lifestyle she has. I'm sure she's devastated without having the attention she once received or all the perks she came to expect. IMO Kate needs to face the reality that she's not a "star"- she's just a mother who spawned sextuplets. Her kids will be in school and there's no reason she can't work as a nurse if she needs more money. There's also no reason she can't sell her huge home which was given to her family by TLC and downsize to a smaller home where she can afford the taxes. I once enjoyed the show and felt she did a good job as "Mom". I no longer admire or respect her.---Kathy

I hadn't read anywhere that TLC gave them the home. I did read they did the lawn care, and prob since they taped there they were responsible for other parts of the house care.

I grew to love the kids, and would like to see them experience as little change as possible, including being able to stay in their home and school. I do hope it works out for Kate. If enough aren't interested, it will fall by the wayside, and she can go back to nursing. In the meantime, I hope she finds a show that does work for her...I think it's great when people can work at what they enjoy.

Sure, celebrities start out as nobodys, until their 'talent' is popular with people. I suppose what some people are saying is that Kate has no talent other than successfully giving birth to sextuplets. In my personal opinion, reality tv isn't the same as movies. Actors have to work at their craft, hone their talents. Reality tv is just a camera following you around while you go about your business, talking and recapping about what happened. It's such a different entertainment genre. Obviously the networks/movie studios agree since reality tv celebs don't make anywhere near what actors make.

Having said all that, I too have grown to love those little cuties. I hope that they turn out well and that this whole divorce fiasco won't harm them. Personally, I think counseling is going to benefit them greatly. Sometimes as a child, it's difficult to tell your parent(s) what is troubling you. And Lord knows those 8 little ones have had more than enough changing in their lives.

Well, for sure, if she has no talent, whatever show she is in, will fall flat on it's face and then she'll know it's time to move on. But IMO, I'd like to see her (and anyone that has a dream) try to do what makes them happy. In this case, I want the kids happy too.

Talulabelle...what you are failing to see is the "whole" picture...certainly Kate is constantly being criticized...but it seems to be over and over again by the same people...for the life of me I can't understand how you can be so mean and hateful towards someone that you don't even know...what is it in this "hate Kate club" that allows people to derive such satisfaction by bashing a mother of eight who is trying to make a living for her family...if we were to go back and re-read this thread and hold it up as a picture of how we are as a society...I think we would all be very saddened and ashamed...

I am not mean and hateful toward Kate (in fact I hate no one) - and I certainly wish nothing bad to anyone. Please remember I dislike both Kate and Jon - so I am not in a Hate Kate club, but a" Dislike both of them club". Also, as has been said over and over on the thread....I feel they are fair game for me to call them as I see them, because they except money to be in the public eye (and except money to expoit their children in the public eye, but whatever, thats why I dislike them) I'm the public, they are in my eye (or face actually with how much press they have gotten) How boring would this be if we all just gushed over Kate. there would be like 3 people here. Feel free to gush, when I disagree I just roll my eyes and go on. Please feel free to just roll your eyes and move on when you don't agree with me. This is a discussion board. Hitler was strong and goal oriented too, but I wouldn't admire and respect him.

Maybe part of the reason her hubby went "off the rails" is because of the way she treated him. Maybe her brother was truly concerned about the family, and maybe she was the one that dealt the first blow by not allowing TLC to pay them like they wanted, but we will ever know.

My point is, the Kate is ok, but I really can't fathom admiring and respecting her. And really how do we know that those are lies written about her, maybe a lot of them are true.

That's pretty funny! I know what you mean though. People on the thread have said before, Kate probably has someone from TLC talking in her ear about her 'worth' as far as celeb status goes. I just think it's different for reality tv though. Real celebs make tons of $, millions per movie. J&K+8 only made what, 2 million total?

I agree with this. And I will give Kate credit, she is very driven so I'm sure she's coming up with (or already has) a plan B for a show or something. I don't think she can rely on Jon as of right now. He seems more interested in chasing 20 something girls instead of a job. I don't understand that at all. He's the one who pulled the show (which I do agree with) but it appears he has no other means of income or plan. Maybe he does and we just haven't heard about it. Somehow, I doubt that though. Wasn't he just skiing in Utah which incidentally is where he met his newest soulmate?

I hope she doesn't use her kids for monetary gain either. Go ahead, write a book about how to pick up the pieces after divorce. But please don't include excerpts detailing how the kids are dealing with it. I think there are venues open for Kate if she's trying to remain in the limelight. However, I do think she needs to act quickly because her 15 minutes is going to be up soon, you know? I would like to see her succeed too, simply because she has 8 little ones to provide for.

Sorry you object and I really wasn't comparing her to Hitler, just saying those two characteristics are not always a reason to blindly admire or respect someone and I wanted to show the most despicable person to show that.

The only Jon and kate articles I read here are in the American mags I buy in costco,.......We do have the show on..but it isn't as popular as it is in the US...and we have only just now had the latest season on.

I first heard about J&K on here and that peaked my interest so I started to watch the show....I've read a lot of articles that people have scanned in though and watched a couple of interviews on you tube.

Iam just sad that they couldn't stay together as a family..I thought they seemed happy in the begining and they seemed to be strong and love each other a lot.....shows how much I know!....Although I do still think they were happy once...
