I guess Kate isn't too thrilled about her new hair.

Kate Gosselin Hates Her $7,000 Hair Extensions!Us Magazine - 47 minutes ago
INFphoto.comUs Magazine Hair today, tears tomorrow?

Kate Gosselin, 34, marked the new year by trading in her signature spiky bob for long, blonde locks in a process that took 20 hours of work and would normally cost $7,000 (hers was comped).

Just one problem: "She hates it!" a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly.

"She thinks her hair looks overprocessed and damaged," adds the insider. "She's afraid people will think she's one of Tiger Woods' bimbos!" (In an online video posted Jan. 10, Gosselin looks in the mirror and says, "Oh, Lord have mercy... it's weird.)

Also not fans? Twins Cara and Mady, 9, who shrieked "Eww!" when they saw their made-over mom.

"They started laughing," says the source. "Kate ended up in her room crying."

But not all hope is lost. On Jan. 8, Gosselin had a stylist visit her Pennsylvania home to coach her on how to care for her new look.

"Kate has been trying different things, from headbands to ponytails to a Farrah Fawcett–style 'do. She's just not sure what she wants."

My SIL did this years ago. She ended up with shorter hair when they had to come out then she started with.

See? It was the stylist. The mags don't have anything on us.

Does anyone else think it is a bit narcissistic and borderline sinful to spend so much time and concern and resourses on ones appearance?

As far as the show for Kate, if she can swing generating audience interest in just her - more power to her - as long as the interest isn't because she is contantly talking about her kids and revealing private info about them (like they are in counseling) and it is just about her. However, I for one can not fathome any show with just her making it past one or 2 episodes. So what, Kate out of water - It's not like Paris Hilton out of water - where she was actually from a different income stratosphere and was truly out of water and it was funny. This is Kate from trailer park, PA. The idea of her being a waitress is just not interesting or a stretch.

I think we all had some kind of hair crises in our lives. Usually it is the other way around. I used to have long curly hair, and I cut it off when I was 8 months pregnant. I cried really hard, and I was told, "it will grow back". I never went back to long hair.
Kate at least can have the extensions taken off.

It must have been the stylist then, the timeline adds up.

From what I understand, Kate's new hair was TLC's doing not hers. They paid for them, probably in an effort to revamp her image. You know, Kate is attractive and they should've just re-styled her hair rather than add the extensions. Just let it grow out naturally.

But I agree with OhMari, we've all had hair crisis' and thank God I don't have to see mine on the cover of People Magazine!:lmao: I have very thick, long, straight hair. Several years ago, I let this hairdresser put in layers and let's just say it was a BIG mistake. My eyes kept getting larger and larger as I saw how short the layers were getting! But it was like I was frozen and couldn't tell her to stop.:sad2: Instead I just cried! Maybe that's how Kate is feeling now that's she's seen the finished product.

Well, that explains that story of her in some dinner/restaurant in NC (?) and security pulled down the curtains. Do you all remember that?

I wonder what kind of jobs they'd put her in? Does this seem like a strange premise for a show? It really doesn't matter though, if people like it than it'll work for Kate. What a relief that she'll be the only one tv though. I hope it works out for her then. From what I've seen lately, it appears she'll be the only parent bringing in an income.

It sounds to me like the female version of "Dirty Jobs"...are they getting rid of Mike Rowe??? That show's on TLC right??

She's just not sure what she wants."

I think out of the whole story, that's the most real and important part and should be a lesson to many about making "snap" decisions or doing something because someone else thinks it's a good idea. She doesn't know what she wants - that I believe. How can she? There are way too many other things going on for her - just with the kids alone.

I think it is part of deal when you are on TV or in Movies. But most celebrities are very into themselves. It think they are all crazy to put themselves out there the way they do.

I do not think it is sinful at all but the Amish would;)

Kate looks & dresses like the other mothers I see around here who are her age.

Hi everybody,

I know it's been a long time since I've been here -- but I realized I miss you guys way more than I miss Jon and Kate, especially Kate. I for one will not be watching her new show -- can't wait for it to be canceled so I can get back to watching Cake Boss (I'm avoiding TLC until they come to their senses)

I like the hair just fine. We knew she'd saty blonde no matter what, really, and where do you go after that short of hair but longer. She just did it the Hollywood way instead of naturally. Ted Gibson does hair on What Not To Wear so it only makes sense he'd be the one to do it for her.
After all the negative talk about the reverse mullet etc., I think people would be happy to see a change in her style and her losing it--even if she only keeps it for 3 months. I'm not convinced she isn't happy though. He saying something like, "it is weird" is not quite a negative to me. It'd be weird seeing yourself with long hair after having short for years. I am sure I'd say that also. I've been growing mine out since summer and sometimes it is a bit "weird" even at this stage. So many people wear short bobs to longer hair these days, I don't think she looks odd in the least. Does she blend in with other pretty blonde girls more? Probably. But she hardly looks terrible or ugly with long hair. She's a pretty young woman who needs more work on her inner beauty than outer beauty and hopefully she's doing some of that also.

I know! I've been avoiding the debacle too, but I really miss the quality interactions here.

I'm not going to watch Kate's new show either. I do not think she is a nice person, and I'm way too old and wise to want or need a *role model* of her ilk -- 8 kids or not.

I'll be more than happy to praise her for finding income that earns her $$ without the filming and exploitation of her children, however!

:)

Hey redrose!:wave2: I feel the same way about coming back. Seriously, this thread was way too much fun, wasn't it? Especially this summer!

I am pretty indifferent toward Kate's new show. If it pays the bills, then great! I do think TLC is scrambling to utilize Kate before her 'fame' diminshes. I'll be curious to see how it pans out though.

Ah, Cake Boss! I'm kinda addicted to that show. It's so hilarious! Next time any of you watch, count how many times he says modeling chocolate and fondant!

Anyhoo, hope everyone is doing well. I'm sure the chatter here will pick up once Kate's new show hits the air.:thumbsup2

Ha! I was just telling my DH the other day that would be a good drinking game! take a drink everytime he says "MOD-eling Chocolate". I don't mind the way he pronounces fondant, but for some reason the way he accents MOOOD-eling chollllclet just makes me nuts.

I used to like it, but the fake drama is just to fake for me, it is all set up. I much prefer to watch Ace of Cakes.

I prefer Ace also. I find Cake Boss very fake and set up. I couldn't stand him on the challanges on the food chanel.

I think there will be lots of people who will watch just out of curiosity at first, like the last few shows of J&K, or the divorce announcement.

One of the things I like about Cake Boss is that I can let my DD watch it without having to explain it ie. she was always shocked to see the way Kate talked to the kids -- and now she knows all about fondant. :lmao:

I'd be on the floor before the end of the show I think :rotfl2:

We don't have Ace of Cakes here so Cake Boss is my only choice -- I'll have to see if I can find it on Youtube so I can check it out.

I was looking at the TLC homepage and there is a short video of Kate getting her hair done. My DD said "Is that JK8? can I watch it?" (my kids miss seeing the kids I must say....even though I am thrilled for the tups sake that they are no longer my children's viewing entertainment) SO I played it for her and told her it was just Kate, no kids in it. In the video, Kate says something about "new hair, new show...." and my daughter gets all excited and says "they are going to have a new show!" and I said "no, not the kids, just Kate..I think it's about Kate trying out different jobs..." my daughters jaw drops and she says "just the mother? just the mean mother? - uh, yeah, I'll watch that, not".

for those following it-is this new idea for a show b/c the paula dean/kate talk show concept tanked? (i read a month or so ago the production company passed on kate).

so would this show be marketed as 'entertainment' (vs reality)? cuz if tlc is going to try and market it as a serious attempt on kate's part to explore different jobs she could get to support the kids i think the whole thing could make a bad impression with viewers. me thinks the average person watching would know that unless the job is in nursing or is just some kind of entry level/no related education/no prior experience gig, the likelyhood of kate (or any other woman in her position w/similar education and background) being able to walk into it is slim to none.

on another level i just think that given the economy, and the number of well educated and experienced professionals that are without jobs these days and are desparatly trying to support THEIR own children-to have kate do a show where she will just play at doing what may be their former professions, is for me downright offensive and in bad taste.

ooh. I hadn't read that ... although I haven't been following the story much at all lately. I'd be interested in seeing those details!

I found an article in Parade Mag. talking about Kate being dropped from the project:

http://www.parade.com/celebrity/hol...sselin-cut-from-new-paula-deen-talk-show.html

And another from The Examiner:

http://www.examiner.com/x-30363-Can...-up-on-TV?cid=exrss-Canada-Celebrity-Examiner

I didn't realize it was dead either.

well, there you go. LOL.

one of these days, I might poke around some of the sites I used to frequent and see what they're saying now ... just for fun. :upsidedow

Redrosesix, Ace of Cakes is on Foodnetwork Canada. You can see the lineup fo this week HERE if you get the Food Network. I actually don't watch either unless there is nothing else on.
