Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Kate looks looks like she is one of the Real Housewives of OC with that hair!
I don't care for it....I liked her hair short....not the spiky mess in the back, but I think she looks great with short hair.

I've gotta agree...I'm not a fan of the new hairdo. It's not awful, but it just looks like she's trying too hard. Of course, I'll be honest and say I wasn't a fan of the old hairdo either, but it was hers and she wore it because (I assume) she liked it. To me, this looks like someone (TLC maybe???) is trying to make her more "everyday 30-something mom" and less "Kate". Maybe this is a transition for her new projects? I dunno....

I too hope the nitty gritty of the kids therapy is kept quiet. There are some things that truly need to stay private- especially when it comes to the kids and the emotional impact the past year has no doubt had on them.

Does anyone else remember the episode where Jon was lamenting what had happened to the girl he had married - the one with the long blond hair? And that now he was married to a woman with short brown hair. It was early in the series and Kate did go blonder after that, but not longer. I wouldn't blame her a bit if that was in the back of her mind. Plus, why not have a new look to start her new life as a single mom. I think she looks great!

I don't care for her hair either. Maybe a progression to long hair instead of a drastic long from a short cut. You can tell they are extensions and they look piecy instead of natural. Maybe its just a bad pic.:confused3
Sad for the kiddos but happy they are getting counseling. I think its long overdue imo.

I don't hate it, but I tend to agree with the progression to long instead of short to long. Actually, I don't really care one way or the other. I was hoping I wouldn't be seeing either Gosselin at the grocery checkout line anytime soon. :upsidedow

Here's a better shot of Kate with her new hair. In this pic, she looks fabulous IMO. Much younger and not as harsh with that other crazy hair do.

Wonder if Jon is missing her now! What's that saying, the best revenge is looking GOOD!

Wow. Looking good? It may just be me, but that looks horrible. Just horrible. And I rarely comment on appearance. I never objected to Kate's old hairdo.

I've tried to go cold turkey on J & K. It is just too much of a trainwreck. It sad to watch and to follow. I am more interested in possible federal legislation to protect all the children of reality TV than in the nasty/dirty/messy Gosselin divorce.

That said, I'm glad to see that the kids may be getting professional help re. therapy. They will certainly need it.

I think she looks good. Heck, she had 8 kids all together, 6 of them at once. While I don't agree with a lot of what Kate does, I can still begrudge her that.

I agree, I'm glad the kids are getting help too. Perhaps Kate will enter counseling as well, it could be eye-opening for her. Let's hope Jon is still in counseling, I have a feeling there's lots of issues to discuss there.

I find it funny, that the guy who does hair on "What Not To Wear" gave her the extensions. If it was some other 34 year old mom, with long hair, the first thing they would do, is cut the persons hair, "shorter". She probably can get away with the hair for 2-3 more years.

I saw an interview with that guy, those extensions cost a minimum of $1500.00 and they have to be re-done every 2-3- months. Wow and she can't pay her bills, but I guess TLC is paying for it. Too bad they aren't getting their monies worth, those things look terrible.

I hope she's done whining about not having money to buy groceries and pay the bills. I just saw on ET that those extensions run in the thousands. :scared1:

my guess is that TLC paid for the makeover, likely part of revamping the image for her new show.

If People gave her the cover again, I'm sure TLC set it up. According to Jon, they can't do anything without TLC's permission. So it was just another way for TLC to get Kate's name out in the Public Court again. I'm sure they have to pay Kate something for being under contract to them.

You're probably right about the What Not To Wear! They LOVE to chop hair, especially if an older woman comes in with longer hair. I'd be terrified to let them touch my hair, it's past my shoulders. I'm sure they'd cut it up to my chin!:scared1: Although the idea of $5000 bucks to blow on a new wardrobe is enticing!:)

I'd bet big $ that TLC paid for that, or maybe People Magazine. I have a hard time thinking Kate would fork over that $ for extensions on her own. Isn't there a new show in the works or something? If so, my guess would be that she'll need a stylist and expenses so the show would work that out. The close-up of her made the extensions look fake, almost like dreadlocks. But from far away, they looked nice.

I completely agree.

I love how is one article Kate is talking about all the debt she is in, and how she is working to pay it off, yet she is getting $1500+ hair extensions. Though I doubt she paid for them out of her pocket. Probably borrowed the $$ from the kids trust funds. Oh, wait sorry they don't have any. :confused3

Chances are TLC paid for them and encouraged them.

Has there been an article saying the kids don't have a trust account? I haven't been following this much.

When did they say they no longer have money in trust for the children:scared1:

I've been away & missed it.

Kate's a TV star they are always changing the look they have. The divorcee drained her money but she will be back on her feet now that Jon is not draining the life & money out of her.

I don't think TV stars ever pay for photo shoots & everything that goes with it. Why would anyone think she had to pay for the hair?

Hi Doris :goodvibes,

I don't recall reading anything about the kids not having trust accounts/funds. What I remember was that Jon confirmed the kids do have them but if he and Kate need to withdraw from it, they will. I also *think* that Kate set them up and they're revocable. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, it was a while ago that I read that.

I agree .. I remember reading that Jon and Kate each confirmed that the children have/had money set aside for them.

The one thing that was never disclosed (and I don't think it should be, unless someone can give me a valid argument why it should, LOLOL) is how much is in the accounts for the children. Jon & Kate can say there are accounts, but who knows? They could have $1,000 or $1.00 or even $1,000,000 saved for the children.

Exactly. Do the math, there can't be that much there. They were paid TIDDLY WINKS by TLC for over 100 episodes. WHat did Jon say, that all together they had made 2 million off the show as a whole family? Before income taxes? (Or just under that I think)...subtract from that their living expenses, which must be huge since they upgraded their lifestyle so much...(just the taxes alone on that house have to be killer, much less upkeep, now that TLC ain't sending gardeners and food etc) Then take what ever is left and divide it by 8. I haven't even talked about the bulky morgage they have on that place. Those kids would be lucky to have a couple thousand each set aside for them. I bet the only money still left is whatever poor trusting and naive people sent into the kids college funds that the governor set up them back when they were still begging for donations and acting like the poor church going couple that needed the help of everyone. :sad2:

Kate is trying to act the part of "real" celebrity on the salary of what many regular people make in regular jobs. (2 million BEFORE INCOme taxes over how many years? - not alot really) It just isn't gonna work (especially since there must be sparse income now)something has to give. She has to realize that the real celebrity she is trying to copy make 2 million for getting out of bed some days. Some make 10 million an episode for shows.

You're right, there's no way to know and I can't imagine a reason that we should know. Hopefully it's a substantial amount, especially considering how many seasons the kids had to perform in.

Considering all the expenses they have not to mention that huge mortgage or ridiculous lawyer fees, I wonder how much of that money has been eaten up. I really think Kate thought the show would go on and on for a while. How does it work though, if they're not filming new episodes yet are still under contract with TLC, are they getting paid still?:confused3
