Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Considering all the expenses they have not to mention that huge mortgage or ridiculous lawyer fees, I wonder how much of that money has been eaten up. I really think Kate thought the show would go on and on for a while. How does it work though, if they're not filming new episodes yet are still under contract with TLC, are they getting paid still?:confused3

re: the bolded part...

I do, too. That was something that always bothered me about the whole thing -- the intended continuation of the show as though the Gosselin's personal life hadn't changed when the Gosselins claimed their show was the realest reality show out there. The meeting with Dr. Phil, to save the brand? I don't know if that was Kate's idea or something TLC came up with, but I totally believe that it was the last-ditch effort to keep Jon on board and further the Gosselin money machine. However, I am certain that this is not unheard of in the entertainment industry. They're surely not the first or last to do such a thing.

I wonder (well, not anymore... I used to wonder, LOL) why Jon finally decided that he wasn't going to go along with the filming of the show anymore. The financial windfall would have been tremendous for not just Jon, but the whole Gosselin enterprise, had he gone along with the preservation of the brand for just a little while longer. I would think that the show could have been written in such a way that Jon could have quietly faded into the background of the show, leaving him to have his own life.

Who knows what Jon's motives were for stopping the filming. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but considering the company he was keeping, it seems more likely that his slimy lawyer was counseling him to do so. I'm sure TLC would've had Jon fade into the sunset on the show too. How quickly that would have happened, who knows. That's why Kate was so peeved IMO, because she knew the show could've kept going with less and less of Jon being shown. He certainly threw a wrench in that scenario, didn't he! But, I do think she thought the show would last much longer than it did which is why they bought the huge house and had all those expenses. I imagine she thought the paychecks would continue to roll in so the debt wouldn't be such an issue. It's just sad to think that after several years of filming and invading this family's privacy, the kids may end up with hardly anything to show for it. What is most upsetting to me is that she and Jon spent probably loads of $ in lawyer fees because they couldn't get along. I can't imagine how large those bill were.

I love how is one article Kate is talking about all the debt she is in, and how she is working to pay it off, yet she is getting $1500+ hair extensions.

Hmmm, in this interview with the stylist posted on on radaronline, he says it would have cost $7000 :

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2010/01/exclusive-interview-kate-gosselins-new-hair-cost-7000

He also revealed that her hairstyle would cost almost $7,000 in his salons in Washington, DC, and New York City!

“My haircuts are $950,” Ted revealed. “The color would have been about $500, and the extensions, which were great length extensions, would probably cost about $5000.”

Sounds like someone else (TLC?) took care of the ridiculous bill. Honestly, I think she looked the best when she used the local beautician in PA, anyone else remember her? The lady who commented she had to get the back just right for Kate? - and gee, she probably charged under $100 for everything

Ted Gibson is the hair stylist on "What Not to Wear" also on TLC. I can guarantee you Kate did not pay for that haircut.

BTW, in the link, neither one of the 2 guys foiling her hair is Ted Gibson. They must be assistants. I guess they didn't want to show Ted because he'd look too familiar to those of us who regularly watch "What Not to Wear."

I knew the name sounded familiar. I had to Google to make sure it was the same person.

I wonder (well, not anymore... I used to wonder, LOL) why Jon finally decided that he wasn't going to go along with the filming of the show anymore. I would think that the show could have been written in such a way that Jon could have quietly faded into the background of the show, leaving him to have his own life.
I always thought that Jon thought that he could make it on his own. I think he just thought he was that important. I think Kate realized that it would come to a screeching halt, they had this house and all these kids, and tried to hold on for a bit. Was it right to hide what was happening? Maybe not, but then I really dont care if or why they hid it.

But, I do think she thought the show would last much longer than it did which is why they bought the huge house and had all those expenses. and the other thing to consider in this is TLC... based on the contract, they had (have) the Gosselins (and now only Kate, I guess) by the balls. Given what has been printed in the course of the trials, I'm convinced that the TLC powers that be painted an extremely lucrative future for Jon, Kate, and the kids... at what some say was minimal cost for the network.

Kate's cover on People is the beginning of her return. I predict that she'll be available for interviews, just in time for February sweeps. The new TLC show won't be far behind. After that, who knows?

Oh brother :sad2:

FacebookTwitterYahoo BuzzE-mailJon Gosselin has a new plus-one.

Sources tell PEOPLE that Kate's ex is dating 25-year-old Morgan Christie, originally of Greenwich, Conn., and now making her home in California.

"She grew up very privileged, tons of money," one source says of the former Emory University student whom Jon – the reality TV dad of eight – reportedly met while skiing in Utah, where Christie's relatives live.

And here's some news about Jon & Hailey who, if I recall was his soulmate that he loves more than Kate.

Tensions Run High as Hailey Glassman and Jon Gosselin Move On

FacebookTwitterYahoo BuzzE-mailIs Jon Gosselin once again finding solace in the arms of a new woman?

According to Internet reports, Gosselin is already dating again – having hooked up with a woman named Morgan he met while skiing in Utah. "He's a guy who doesn't like to be alone," says a source close to the father of eight. "He has a girl that he likes, but they have been taking things very slow."

Also moving slowly? Gosselin's plans to settle his differences with ex-girlfriend Hailey Glassman, who allegedly trashed the Manhattan apartment they shared, according to his attorney Mark Jay Heller, and whom Jon is accused of shoving during a pre-holiday argument.

No Meeting, So Far
Despite reports to the contrary, Glassman and Gosselin have yet to meet, says her lawyer Stephanie Ovadia. Perhaps that's because considerable bitterness remains between them.

Says the Gosselin source about Glassman: "Jon feels much better without her. He felt that she was sucking him for all his money and not being faithful to him. He is happy to be done with her."

For her part, Glassman is attempting to take the high road, having recently moved to a new apartment in New York's Murray Hill neighborhood. "I've been through way too much for a 22-year-old, and the amount of stress and pain I've endured is unfathomable," Glassman tells PEOPLE.

"[But] in life, you need to be an optimist, I've learned. You have two options: You can either be sad and depressed and pity yourself, or be the best you can be. Like Robert Frost says, 'If I could sum up life in three words, it would be 'Life Goes On.' " (The poet's exact words were, "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on.")

Still, Glassman can't resist taking one more potshot at the fallen reality star: "Congrats to the new girlfriend and I wish [Jon] luck with his move to Utah. I mean, I'm not sure if he remembers he has eight children back in Pennsylvania."

And in what might be a reference to her former boyfriend's now-cancelled TLC series, Glassman adds: "Remember Jon – those eight little people you hung around with while you were running your legalized sweat shop?"

Says the Gosselin source: "He will always love his kids. His kids are what keep him going."

Why would he move to Utah if the new girlfriend is in Cali? I think (or hope) that Hailey is just stirring up trouble.

He probably needed a place to live.
If he wasn't paying the rent, he probably got kicked out of his NYC apartment.
He apparently bought the condo last year, when everything started.

I always thought that Jon thought that he could make it on his own. I think he just thought he was that important.

I think they both thought (and still think) they were (are) that important.... . fueled by the fact that the PR people, agents, fans, etc. were all telling them how much everyone loves them. Fame is a powerful and addicting drug.

Very good point. That's a really long commute to have to see the kids. Hopefully he will sell and buy something closer to home.

Wasn't there something about his NYC apartment being padlocked because he wasn't paying the rent? If so, that would explain his recent time in Utah because, as you said, he has that condo. Is it just me or does Jon seem totally lost?

I think the big difference is, TLC see's something in Kate that might give her a chance at another shpw. Not so much for Jon. I wonder what they know that we don't, that they are helping Kate and not Jon. I happen to think that the courts also know something we don't, since they gave Kate physical custody. People can continue to think they are both alike, but IMO, one is certainly acting more responsible. At this point, Kate is who I'd rather see the kids with, and I hope she has some success in case she needs to support the kids.

that is all certainly true.

two people, under the same set of circumstances, and how they've handled it. period.

I'm sure TLC is holding hands with Kate, Kate is the willing one wanting to continue. Jon, well, he doesn't seem to know whether he is coming or going right now. I wonder why Jon really wanted to stop the filming. He was obviously unhappy with the show. What I'm wondering is what on earth he thought he could do instead to make a living. We know Kate wants to continue, that's a no-brainer. But Jon? What's he going to do? Technically he's still under contract with TLC anyway but even if he could've gotten out, what were his plans for income? He's got 8 little ones to think of too.

THats the saddest thing. Both of their head expanded to the point that they couldn't even see themselves for whom they are. Jon really thought he was going to be some spokesperson for Ed Hrdy etc. (:rotfl2:) and didn't realize he was getting USED. It worked too, I had never heard the name fo the designer nor the line until Jon brought it to mainstream. They used him and didn't even have pay him one dime. That is how stupid he is.

Kate, is the same way, but the only thing holding her afloat is the people at TLC trying to salvage SOMETHING from the brand. Kate really thinks she is qualified for a talk show or something. I think with that hair shw thinks she is qualified to model. All the while, the hairdresser profits and gets his name out there..it keeps TLC in the limelight a little. People sells a few magazines, and Kate doesn't realize that it isn't because we like her, or admire her, but we are just watching the train wreck continue. And she goes on, perfectly happy to exploit herself and her family for the attention.

That People artice was also sad because she is quoted in it as saying everything she does get criticized. Hmm, and the common denominator in all of this is.....you Kate. If everything I did got criticized, I think I would start to pay attention and realize I was doing something wrong.

Talulabelle...what you are failing to see is the "whole" picture...certainly Kate is constantly being criticized...but it seems to be over and over again by the same people...for the life of me I can't understand how you can be so mean and hateful towards someone that you don't even know...what is it in this "hate Kate club" that allows people to derive such satisfaction by bashing a mother of eight who is trying to make a living for her family...if we were to go back and re-read this thread and hold it up as a picture of how we are as a society...I think we would all be very saddened and ashamed...

I hope TLC does come up with something so Kate can makie enough money to keep the kids in their school and home. Obviously, if they try and it doesn't work, she does have nursing to fall back on. If it does work and enable the kids to keep the same lifestyle, and off the camera, good for her for doing her best.

Why should she pay attention to what others think is wrong, and those that criticize and hate her? It's her life, and right now the kids are not on TV..something most of us wanted by the end of the series. The stuff she is criticized for (clothes, hair, how she looks on a talk show) just doesn't matter.
