Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

My gut tells me Jon agreed to the Kate having primary custody, it gives him so much more freedom. I do not think it means she got a 60/40 split....but I would not be surprised if she was favored. He might have agreed to it if he was having trouble paying back the money he owed.

I just used the 60/40 as an example. I'm thinking if she has "primary" there's got to be some "advantage" to it - other than being easy for Jon (which I totally agree with you on!).

One advantage is child support if she is the primary but I think that is it.

I'm pretty sure child custody & the divorce settlement are separate issues.

Our local news just reported a judge has banned guns from the Gosselin's house.:scared1:

Divorce Final, Kate gets House

PHILADLELPHIA – Jon and Kate Gosselin are officially divorced after 10 years of marriage, eight children and a year of tabloid headlines.

A lawyer for Kate Gosselin says she gets the family home in eastern Pennsylvania in the no-fault divorce agreement entered Friday and first reported by TMZ.com.

Lawyer Mark Momjian (MAHM'-jee-in) says Kate Gosselin will continue as the primary caretaker of the reality TV couple's twins and sextuplets.

A spokesman says Jon's lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, is traveling and not available for comment.

Momjian says the Gosselins worked out custody arrangements but let an arbiter decide financial issues. He says Kate is relieved and excited about restructuring her life.

The family home is about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia in Wernersville.

Why would Jon feel he needs a pistol. I know on Jan. 1, guns are going to be heavily taxed, but he must feel threatened in some way, that he purchased a pistol. My dd has one, for her "job", and her job requires her to practice quarterly and pass a test quarterly. But she goes to a building that has a fire range, you just don't go outside and shoot a gun-he has no clue how the bullet can riochet off of anything and come back and actually kill him. I give Kate credit for getting the gun banned off the property, especially with small children in the house.

He was being stupid with that gun...just standing at his fence shooting into the woods. What if somebody had been walking through there?

He looks really scary in that picture. He could be a ticking time bomb. I'm not so sure I would trust him to be with the children unsupervised. If he is really in financial straits there are all sorts of scenarios I can think of that aren't going to be good outcomes.

Now that the house is officially Kate's ~ Do you think Jon will still be having his visits there?

I know if it were my house, he wouldn't be. Too much of a liability.

It doesn't matter why he wants a pistol that is his right to have it.

If Kate doesn't wants gun on her property that is her choice.

Jon wasn't on her property... it's for the children, LOL :upsidedow

Oh goodness gracious.... the visual in itself is terrifying :scared1: . Apparently, while I was at dinner at Qdoba (LOVE their food), the t/v said that the Gosselin divorice was finalized today (this news was accompanied by darling fiance's roll of the eyes :rolleyes:and a "thank (explitave deleted) God" ). To be honest, I don't know how much I can take as far as hearing about the Gosselin dramas... (sounds like a Soap Opera. Hmmmm *grabs pad and paper and begins to brainstorm* SOAP NET HERE I COME!!!):woohoo::woohoo:

From TMZ:

We've learned under the arbitrator's award, Jon must make huge child support payments -- we're told 5 figures a month. And here's the problem. TLC has now shut down Jon's ability to take outside jobs. The irony -- he did himself in.

We've also learned Jon was charged every penny of the $235,000 that he withdrew from their joint account. That amount was deducted from his piece of the settlement.

As for Jon's claim that Kate should be docked for money she withdrew ... we've learned Jon struck out. The arbitrator determined every penny she withdrew was for the benefit of the kids.
Under the terms of the divorce decree, Kate has primary custody and Jon gets visitation -- both Jon and Kate agreed to that in advance. And, they agreed, neither party would get spousal support.

Score a big one for Mark Momjian, Kate's lawyer.

Maybe I watch too much CSI, but it freaks me out that he has these financial problems, will owe 5 figures a month in child support and he has a gun!!!!

Like I said That is fine if she doesn't want guns on her property that is her right.

I agree.... and was joking about the kids' property. The house is in trust for the kids, right? Are Jon & Kate's names both on the mortgage?

I know nothing about this gun thing, just the posts I've seen here. And really, I don't even care about it. I've officially moved on from Jon & Kate. :cool1: I was just popping over here to see what was said in light of the divorce being final.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you pay child support if you don't have an income? I thought it was based on income of the person paying it, not on the the lifestyle of the primary care giver (who in this case in the higher wage earner).

I though Jon already put back the money he took out, so did he have to pay twice?

Hmmmm...I'm guessing he's gonna be racking up some heavy arrears.... And I think he only returned about $180,000, but they want the rest also. That's what I'm guessing.

Kate is going to be on Leno shortly.

I know from personal experience (in PA) if you are not working they will calculate your imputed (sp?) income. In my case they averaged what he had made in the past and what he could make if he were working.

You are not alone. As soon as I read that on this thread I had the exact same thoughts.

I for one am happy that the divorce is finally over. I really hope these kids can get back to some sort of "normalacy".
