Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Geez, now Kate and the kids are at the Ronald McDonald house cooking dinner for the guests. She makes an announcement over the speaker phone that dinner is served, with love from J&K+8 minus Jon. Then laughs and tells the people around her that Jon isn't here, is he. :sad2:

That's tacky.

Seems even TLC is pulling some punches with Kate.

one thing that confused me, for those who watched ... were the comments about the kids swimming so much a jab at Jon? Like that was all he could come up to do with them? I couldn't tell.

Hi everyone-----I'm back!!!!!!
Just finished watching the 2 episodes and I can say that they would of been better off ending it weeks or months ago. Looks like Kate's true colors came out once again. If she is taking the high road, she obviously took a wrong turn. Gee and she gained all that sympathy the past few weeks only to blow it tonight by bashing Jon every chance she got.
Typical episode starting with her having to stay in the gym for the gymnastics lessons, even though no other parents are allowed--they had to make an exception!! Then the baseball game, of course, couldn't sit in normal seats, had to have a box and unlimited food. Throw in a couple hats and jerseys.
I really hope that after next week Jon & Kate become nobody's again!!!!

What the heck?! It's not like she actually wanted to be married to Jon anymore. :confused3

She should see what some of our lost soldiers' wives are going through, losing the husbands that they wanted to be married to, having to help their kids cope with losing their father, and doing it ALL ALONE. That is stress.

Okay--I will try to be sensitive as I by no means mean any disrespect to someone who as lost a spouse or parent or child in war.

HOWEVER--it saddens me when we start comparing people's lives and saying--well you don't have it that bad, you should see such and such.

I know Kate can be a beast. But she can be miserable. She can be stuck in a situation.

We truly do not know what went on. Divorce is a major life change.

It's just unfair to people who are going through tough times to say--well it's not as bad as this over here.

We can't say or even suggest that she has it easy or that she should be without stress.

I'd have to ask on what planet is divorce 100% not an stressful situation.

Heck, my mom has been divorced 4 times. Yeah--it's stressful (at least 2 and possibly 3 are justifiable, I do not know if there was legitimate merit to the other one.) And she's military.

I'm just tired of Kate being mocked b/c other soldiers and their families have it worse.

I think it is a weak argument to compare it to that. There are tons of situations that could be worse. It doesn't make her situation illegitimate.

No disrespect to soldiers' familes, but I just can't stand when they are used in situations like this. (yes losing someone in war is sucky--but losing anyone to death is sucky period--regardless of how they died.)

That's all I'm going to say on that. This is not a Kate defense btw--but a general defense on anyone going through a tough time. It bugs me when I sense the "suck it up mentality".

And I'm not even watching the show -- I almost did, but so far it doesn't sound like I would enjoy. I actually just got home from work an hour ago ie. 9:30 our time -- long day, but productive. No, I am definitely not into watching Kate tonight. :sad2:

I'm watching it off and on..still waiting for my delivery. So far it's been fun..both Kate and Jon. I loved the gymnastics (although in one area, Kate's voice over was strange..I bet it said something else originally), and the eating out, and Jon has the kids at a baseball game (put that stupid phone away!) and the kids are having a great time with him too. This is actually what I wish it had stayed at..about the kids. So far, very little mentioned, other than Kate saying first time they all went out without Jon..but it would be strange if it was just ignored and divorce or each other. So far, pretty good.

If I am not mistaken--this footage is "what really happened last spring". It's before the divorce annoucnement and before Kate's "high road" comments.

I don't know when the interviews took place, but TLC opted to edit this footage and run it and she would have to comment on it. Saying no comment through the thing would be....silly.

Yes Madge, I got the impression she was mocking Jon because he let the kids swim all the time instead of playing with them.

I haven't seen that part yet. Gee, it could have been a nice moment. She has got to learn to shut her mouth at inappropiate times. Mayeb she could war a little color necklace, and when she starts to open her mouth and say stuff she shouldn't they could give her a little zap. Doe sshe not get that people like her better when she zips it?

That's why I think they would of been better off ending it weeks or months ago rather than showing this old footage and having her comment on it. Your right, the high road comment was after they announced the divorce. I just thought some of her "chair comments" were really goofy.

If I knew the paps were out there and had a chance of getting in, I wouldn't have left my kids either. At least she stayed out of the way.

:lmao:

It might make her hairdo worse, though.

True--I think they were somewhat stuck.

Contracts with advertisers, Jon pulling the plug on the kids.

They were pulling out what they had left.

I doubt they ever intended this episode though. For if they did--we would have seen it long ago.

That was the insinuation, at least my interpretation of it anyway.

I agree. It would've been a sweet moment because what she actually said was kind, up until the minus Jon part. I think Ronald McDonald House is special to Kate, it sounded genuine when she talked about staying there for 2 weeks after the babies were born. Just a shame to have tainted it with a snarky, bitter comment about Jon.

I thought it was a long time ago she did the Ron McDonald house. I wonder if she's done it more than once. I thought it was way before the divorce was announced. Hmm..I'll have to pay attention to see if I can tell if that remark was a voice over.
I wonder how much we are being played with these remarks..if TLC is putting some in out of context.

if that's the case... and I suspect you're probably right, judging by the tone of the rest of the episode.... did TLC really need to go there? Not only is it petty and unnecessary (I agree with Doris, leave it about the kids...), it's not an accurate picture of what the tabloids portrayed this summer. More often than not, the kids were just riding bikes or other unstructured play ... and it was with a nanny as much as it was Jon and Kate. Now, if you only watch the show, you wouldn't know that. I guess that's why they (TLC) did it.

I think it was the same episode you're thinking of with the Ronald McDonald house. Wasn't that this spring? Definitely before the divorce announcement.

I have no doubt we're being played by TLC. Now, just how much, that's up for grabs...:rolleyes1

it was definitely not a voiceover. She made the comment, looked over at someone next to her, shrugged her shoulders and said, "well, he's not here" and went on... like she shouldn't have said it, but was stating the obvious. KWIM?

Yup, it sure wasn't a voice over. She looked right over her shoulder and said exactly what you said she did. Then she kind of smirked and laughed it off. I can't recall, were the kids standing there too?

Good point

Are we supposed to think that Jon is a really bad father, therefore we shouldn't trust him when he says that filming the kids isn't in their best interests right now?

I'm thinking TLC may have overplayed their hand here -- I wonder how many of tonight's viewers are going to think "now that's why I miss watching the show -- I really hope they bring it back" And I also can't wait to read Z's blog -- from the sounds of things from the rest of you, I'm betting it won't be long :lmao:
