Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

She really needs to zip it with the comments. She needs to be told she needs to love her kids more than she hates her ex. I can understand her bitterness, but really I think she is more upset that she can't be little him now because he finally has some well guts.

And another thing, broken dreams about getting the kids passports and then not going to use them because they aren't together? Really? As much as passports cost?

if that's the case... and I suspect you're probably right, judging by the tone of the rest of the episode.... did TLC really need to go there? Not only is it petty and unnecessary (I agree with Doris, leave it about the kids...), it's not an accurate picture of what the tabloids portrayed this summer. More often than not, the kids were just riding bikes or other unstructured play ... and it was with a nanny as much as it was Jon and Kate. Now, if you only watch the show, you wouldn't know that. I guess that's why they (TLC) did it.

When has Kate ever played with the kids? She did a lot of sitting on the plastic chair in the viewing area...er, front yard. She's just mad all her free fancy trips ended!

The dogs looked very young. That must of been taped shortly after they got them. Its a good thing the Korea trip didn't happen. Can you imagine them going overseas and not getting along! That would of been a disaster.

In regards to filming, I saw someone from TopChef being interviewed and he said that they taped what seemed like 44 hours to get 44 minutes of usable footage. I can only imagine what these kids put up with the constant filming.

Yup, that's the same outfit. Must have been the same episode. Unless Kate has a specific uniform (hot pink, sleevless sundress) she only wears when she volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House!

then that was filmed back in May.

I can't remember when the baseball game and gymnastics episodes were filmed. I remember reading about them, but it's been a while ago.

Good point

Are we supposed to think that Jon is a really bad father, therefore we shouldn't trust him when he says that filming the kids isn't in their best interests right now?

I'm thinking TLC may have overplayed their hand here -- I wonder how many of tonight's viewers are going to think "now that's why I miss watching the show -- I really hope they bring it back" And I also can't wait to read Z's blog -- from the sounds of things from the rest of you, I'm betting it won't be long :lmao:

I don't know. But Jon has an attorney in his court looking out for his kids "rights" (in theory--still don't see a separate lawsuit to TLC--ummm...Jon????? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1)

I don't think that Jon can be "convinced" to give up permission at this time, if ever.

However, Kate can petition the court I believe to gain the right to proceed without his consent while they are in her custody. (Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards come to mind and that was in CA. No idea the outcome, but I thought that it was ruled that he couldn't block the use of his children while they were in his custody. I thought they were even shown on Tori Spellings show attending a birthday party.)

In any case--I'm not familiar entirely with employment law and whether or not it requires BOTH parents permission.

Taping a family would be different than taping a culinary experience.

For example...the tups birthday party--did not take 44 hours to film.

I can cite others--but it is late and the cobwebs of my brain reallly don't feel like going through 5 seasons of memory.

IOW--you cannot use the filming schedule of one show and say that is what occurs on this show and that the tups were stuck filming that long.

Gymnastics episode was one of the last things filmed, if it included only the sextuplets... late September, best as I can tell.

it was definitely not a voiceover. She made the comment, looked over at someone next to her, shrugged her shoulders and said, "well, he's not here" and went on... like she shouldn't have said it, but was stating the obvious. KWIM?

I wonder if he was supposed to be there and didn't show up? If it was before the announcement, we are assuming it's a divorce snark, and maybe it's a where the heck are you Jon you are supposed to be here snark.

Sometimes what they are wearing can be a clue.

I think Kate dresses the kids very summery Memorial Day to Labor Day and then they stop wearing the summery things.

Whatever kind of snark it was--it's not appropriate under any circumstances at a place such as Ronald McDonald House.

People are there for sad reasons--their children are hospitalized.

Now--I did not hear it as I didn't watch the episode, but it seems that everyone is in agreement in what she said.

What she said was WRONG and I don't care if he said he wasn't coming and laced the conversation with F-bombs. It was tacky of her to say it.

Top Chef is a totally different beast than Jon & Kate +8. Each Top Chef episode is over a period of a couple of days where they do these events several hours a day. And then they shoot them in their house in case anything happens. Jon & Kate + 8 is more like, here is an event, here are some cameras, let's shoot the kids being cute. Then most work done with those shows are the interviews with Jon & Kate where they get them to say what needs to be said to tell a story of what happened. Do you think that Kate and the boys were on that Naval ship in NC and the ice cream store for over 30 hours? Did that baseball game they attended last for 30 hours?

I agree, the birthday party didn't take 44 hours to film, but how many hours was spent on the Good Housekeeping shoot---2 whole days?? I wasn't comparing J & K to TopChef, I just meant that a lot of footage is never even used--that is unless your trying to end a trainwreck which is what I witnessed tonight.

It was all the kids. I actually liked the show. It was mostly about the kids and the rest of the stuff was easy for me to ignore. Just like I do on other shows when I don't like everything. We could stretch out and come down hard on some of the parts, just like the paps do, but hey, I enjoyed it. I like the kids and liked watching them.

It didn't offend me. She is who she is. She definitely could have been classier about it though. I just cannot get the energy to hate on everything she does. Things that I do hate on are people like the moron who ran through a red light today nearly hitting us because he was too busy texting. That behavior offends me. The actual morons who nearly kill my DH and I on a daily basis because of their selfish stupidity. Not some woman who is bitter about her husband's escapades making their world turn upside down. My comments aren't towards you, just in general.

either way, the cameras were rolling, people were around ... not a very effective way to save the brand, if we are to believe Kate & TLC were still trying to do that.

I remember reading back at the time of the filming of the OCC episodes, that it was planned for Jon to go visit the people at the bike shop for the show, but it was edited to make it look like he was blowing things off or something to that effect. Of course, that's nothing that was ever proved, but all the pieces of the puzzle at that time fit together for that to be true.

I can't imagine it would -- so Kate could probably let them film on her custody days, just not at the house.

Bringing a lawsuit against TLC? I don't think Jon can sue on behalf of his kids -- the children are regarded as individuals under common law in most jurisdictions so they would be the ones suing TLC, and I'm almost certain would both parents would have to allow it, unless Jon gave his permission for them to sue TLC and their mother.
