Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Oh man. This has 'Paso Doble' written all over it! It's the dance where the man is the matador and the woman is the cape (or sometimes even the bull). There's lots of foot stomping, arm raising and aggressive faces! I'm guessing that this will be the dance Kate & Tony are talking about, that tells Kate's story. Oh the analogies that come to mind...Kate as the bull, Jon as the matador trying to fend off her aggressive advances!

If it's about the past two years, I would expect it to be more about her and her kids and not Jon. If it's her story, it would be heavy on the Kate. Why wouldn't it be? I hope she doesn't play out anything about Jon. People would not like that. I'm very curious as to how this story would/could be told. No matter what she does, some people will turn it on her..she can't win on something like this.
I agree Madge, that a lot of that blog was ghost writing, or at the very least, polished up..although she did get herself through nursing school, and that is not easy, so she must have some writing skills. There are a lot of papers involved in nursing school.

I like how she says it will be "her story." Which means it will be heavy on the Kate, and her part as a "victim." I wonder if she'll actually play out her role as someone who emotionally and psychologically abuses others? I may give her some credit if she fesses up to her shortcomings.

I see Kate sort of doing a version of Grease,
where Danny-John Travolta tries to get Olivia Newton John's attention.

I almost forgot. Did you see Kate's partner, helping Shannon's partner down the steps last nite, after they were eliminated? After he helped him, he walked back up to stand by Kate. Then after the show, the announcer told everyone to come say good-bye and he was the first one there again, giving the guy a hug.

Me too!

Definitely a pasodoble! And definitely with Kate as the bull. I don't think Tony will be swinging her around like a cape after the jive experience. She looked like a sack of potatoes, poor thing, and I was afraid he would do himself an injury. Note, this is not because I think she is over-weight, she is not, but because those moves require an agile partner not a deadweight.

Quote from the above article. "Gosselin is planning a Jon & Kate-themed routine with her professional partner Tony Dovolani playing the role of her ex-husband Jon Gosselin for next Monday night's tenth-season performance episode, Gosselin told E! News after Tuesday night's results show."

Count me in as someone who thinks that a "Jon and Kate" theme would be incredibly tasteless. Especially as she keeps implying that the children are watching.

Perhaps, as Doris wants, it will be the "Kate" story with Tony dancing the part of eight (EIGHT!) children. Is he a good enough dancer to pull that off?;)

Derek and Brooke did that for their freestyle and it was SO good. Season7? I don't know but youtube it, it's great.

Yeah, I noticed that. He seems so sweet. No hugs for or from Kate...except her blind siding Tony. I like how he keeps a firm grip on her neck like they are bros. :cool2:
Wonder what it would have been like if she had gone home. Awkward.

Gross.

Why wouldn't the last two years be about Jon? He's been a huge part of her life. They only divorced in Dec. and he's the father of her EIGHT (EIGHT!) kids. The judges asked for A story, not HER story. I feel certain she has no other story, but that bloggers is a whole other story!

He injured his knee in dress rehearsal...would not have been able to keep going anyway. His plan was to have his dad( also a pro dancer) step in for practice with Shannon and then he would perform on Monday nights, but since they were eliminated no issue now. He hopes to be able to join in on the group stuff near the end of the season.

I didn't say that :confused3 at all. Please don't put words in my mouth. I agreed with the person who said it will prob be about Kate. I said I would expect it would be more about her and the kids and not Jon. I didn't say it wouldn't be about Jon at all. Why wouldn't it be about her? I also said I hoped it wouldn't be about Jon, and in spite of what the article said, I still hope that.

I said, if you need to re-read it so you can quote me correctly:

I'm just hoping it isn't. If it is, she is asking for a whole lot more criticism. Her kids will be watching. I don't see how that could be done tastefully. I hope her and Tony find a different story to tell, and that the blog is wrong. But one thing about Kate, she doesn't seem to see that keeping her mouth shut is best.

I really hope it is wrong too. The bad part is that she is the one quoted as saying it. And I agree this would be tasteless.
I use to really like DWTS. I love Donny Osmond. I never remember this much nonsense before.:confused3

My first thought if Kate does her story is the scene from the nutcracker with the lady and all the kids that come out from under her dress. :rotfl2:

:laughing:That's Mother Ginger from the Nutcracker. The only reason I know that is that my DD danced as one of the children for her ballet school's production. The front of the Mother's dress opens like a curtain and bunch a little girls come dancing out! I wonder if that's how birth was for Kate? I'm thinking not!

Loving the visual of Kate as Mother Ginger!

I think Kate missed an opportunity to spin the quarrel with Tony. They weren't fighting -- they were just rehearsing for next week's Jon and Kate story. The following is not exact quotes but, still!

Kate: "You don't know how to (help) teach me. Why can't you show me which foot is my right foot not just tell me to start on my right foot. You aren't hearing me!"
Tony, mumbling: "I've heard you all day."
Kate: "If you just asked me how to (help) teach me then I wouldn't have to shout! It is all your fault."
Tony, walking out: "I quit!"

I can't be the only person having flashbacks! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Seriously, I hope they do not dance the Jon and Kate story next week. Ick.

One more thought: the difference between Kate and Buzz is that Buzz asked for a known method to practice. The late great Arthur Murray used to give printouts of footprints for the dance steps so people could study at home. I remember my parents using them in the '60s. :)

I think there is precedent on DWTS for saving the totally untalented. I was a huge fan of the first season (loved John O'Hurley) but stopped watching regularly after Master P stayed way too long in Season 2. His dancing was awful, he barely practiced, and just ambled happily around the floor in sneakers. The judges went apopolectic as he was saved by fans week after week and became really brutal. It was fairly clear that he just wanted to collect his money and leave without further humiliation and did not appreciate being saved.

Does anyone else think Kate might have a learning disability? It is almost like she has aspergers.

This is Kate:
Essentially, Asperger's syndrome causes behavior that can best be described as “quirky.” Bill Gates, Woody Allen, Bob Dylan, Keanu Reeves, Al Gore, and Garrison Keillor are some of the many notable public figures who experts believe show symptoms of Asperger's syndrome. There is also some evidence to suggest that Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton suffered from the condition as well.

Impaired social reactions are a key component of Asperger's syndrome. People who suffer from this condition find it difficult to develop meaningful relationships with their peers. They struggle to understand the subtleties of communicating through eye contact, body language, or facial expressions and seldom show affection towards others. They are often accused of being disrespectful and rude, since they find they can’t comprehend expectations of appropriate social behavior and are often unable to determine the feelings of those around them. People suffering from Asperger's syndrome can be said to lack both social and emotional reciprocity.

Although Asperger's syndrome is related to autism, people who suffer from this condition do not have other developmental delays. They have normal to above average intelligence and fail to meet the diagnostic criteria for any other pervasive developmental disorder. In fact, people with Asperger's syndrome often show intense focus, highly logical thinking, and exceptional abilities in math or science.

There is no cure for Asperger's syndrome, but cognitive behavioral therapy, specialized speech therapy and counseling can help alleviate many of the condition’s more troubling symptoms. If they learn to develop the appropriate coping mechanisms, people with Asperger's syndrome are quite capable of getting married, having children, becoming gainfully employed, and leading independent lives

no. I don't think Kate has Asperger's.

That's an interesting thought. A very good friend of mine has a child with Asperger's. It's a fairly broad spectrum with varying degrees of the syndrome. With her child, it's obvious there's something 'off'. He refuses to make eye contact and has trouble handling social situations. Conversations are difficult for him so I try to talk about things I know he's interested in. Sometimes he responds and sometimes he completely ignores me.

I recall Kate talking about how much she hated having people in her home. Remember the famous solar panel episode from last year? She was completely agitated and just wanted to be far away from it. There was another time on the show where she couldn't handle the cameras and everyone and she asked them to just leave (or something to that effect).

However, it's strange that Kate seeks out the spotlight. If she were truly an Asperger's patient, I'd imagine she'd recoil from all the attention.:confused3 Maybe her issue is more a lack of manners than anything.

I don't think that is true about not wanting attention she just can not handle it & it makes it difficult to work with her.

Kate never seems to realize she is coming off rude..."I just don't understand" I bet you that is what is wrong with her.

My SIL has it too...we realized it when 2 of her children were diagnosed.

My niece has Aspergers & loves attention. She goes out of her way to get it.

When we were kids we used to say " They don;t have a clue now I know it was probably aspergers.

Do you think the description of Aspergers sounds like Kate?

Nope. There is a broad spectrum on the autism scale, but nope.

Were I to make an armchair diagnosis based on a person's public persona I would probably go in another direction (DSM IV, Axis II, 301.81).

Do you think the description of Aspergers sounds like Kate?

I think there are a lot of descriptions that "sound like" Kate .. or Jon, or me, or you, or anyone else out there. We've (the general we) been on this road before, trying to diagnose Kate, Jon, Hailey, the kids, Kevin & Jodi, etc. and none of us has enough information to make that assessment.
