Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I'm surprised not much was even mentioned about Disney. This visit would have been a perfect opportunity to show her being a mother, for the voters on DWTS. They must have been trying to do things and not be found out. That's a long time for those kids to be there and none of us (meaning the on line stalkers lol) knew it. I've read lots of posts where people were very upset that she left her children for so long..and it turns out she didn't.

I certainly hope she did stuff with them during the day (even if it was just talking and cuddling)..otherwise there wasn't much point in them flying out.

They've been there for 6 days and all they got was a few lousy hours at Disneyland, that is criminal.. :rotfl:

DWTS is adding new features and themes (movie night etc) I think what they should do is a week of switching pros, Maks with Kate would be interesting or even Derek might need a week of sweating his choreography. Pamela with Louis. Chad with Anna, Jake with Cheryl, Niecy with Tony etc.

That is a wonderful idea!

Yes. It is easier with a partner. He is holding her in a very firm grip and guiding her. I'm trying to see whether his lips move because I'm pretty sure he is muttering "ONE, two, three, ONE, two three" in her ear. It was particularly noticable in the Paso Doble, but I swear I could practically hear him in the "fox stroll."

ITA. :thumbsup2
Tony is usually a joy to watch and really good at presenting his partners strengths beautifully. I guess some of the videos of him with other partners are still on line. When Bruno said Tony could get more life out of a frock on a coathanger.:rotfl2: Bruno usually irritates me, but that was spot on! Kate looks bored, unmotivated and resistant.

Yes, I am a long time Tony fan, for his dancing not just his big beaming smile.

I did notice he was mumbling something during the Paso Doble too! I assumed it was to help Kate keep time to the music which unfortunately I think is impossible anyway.

Tony is fabulous, he's not my fav (Derek and Maks are) but he's really very good. I think his strength is that he works hard to showcase his partner, like Jane Seymour. They were so good together as was Marie Osmond. I think he's not used to a student like Kate. *WARNING, WARNING, this is just my opinion but I don't think Kate gives one flip about doing the show other than it's putting her out there for publicity and paying her $. I'd imagine most students who go to a dance class are there to actually learn and that motivates them to do well. With Kate, she looks like she'd rather be somewhere else which is probably why she putters out so quickly in rehearsal because she doesn't really want to do it. You can't get water from a rock.

Bruno is hilarious and sometimes his comments are over the top. Last night he was right on the money though. He told Kate to give them something and that he was frustrated because he thought last week might have been the breakthrough she needed and now she's back to looking like a shopping cart. She should go home, she was by far the worst. At least the other celebs are improving, Kate isn't because she just can't dance. Sad but true. I can't dance either even though Doris is waiting for me to make a youtube video!

I would love to see that!

I agree--they do this on SYTYCD--which is an entirely different dance competition. But it really shakes things up to see if you can still hold your own ... also, if you had bad luck with one partner, things might improve with a new one.

I'm not sure DWTS will ever do that--but it is a wonderful way for folks to show what they truly can do.

I think she does want to be there. I also think that she thought it would be like other projects she has taken on..that it would 'just happen'. But since she can't hire someone to actually practice for her, and then move the magic wand over her, and make it seem like she can dance..well, it just isn't working.
I don't think she had any clue as to how much work this was going to take. I can't imagine that she will still be there after tonight (but according to the place with the phone calls, she's still ahead of the others) but if she is, and the kids are gone, and she still doesn't improve, they really need to do something to make the phone calls a less percent of the total. Let the judges decide (althought their judging is also leaving me to scratch my head).

I would love to see Kate with Derek. I've seen him with a lot of patience, and I really love how much fun he makes dancing. Not anything against Tony..but I'd like to see how Kate does with a more fun dance choreographed. Won't get points with the judges, but might loosen her up.

And I'd like to see Pam with Tony. That would be interesting.

It catches up eventually--and when it doesn't, the judges usually "weigh in" with their scoring.

I also found it odd to how they convert the calls to "points" to calculate who goes home.

I mean--the judges score out of 30.....do they had 15,750 phone callers to that for a grand total of 15,753-15,780.

It has never made any sense to me.

The Disney Land front of the line thing... I can't imagine this being normal. There have to be celebs and their families at DL literally all the time because of where it is located. People magazine is constantly showing pics of celeb fams at DL. They all couldn't be going to the front of the line. And with Kate's entourage! There had to have been 5 adults and 8 kids.
Someone I work with (who likes to talk about Kate and especially DWTS!) said in 08 she saw Cindy Crawford (w/ Randy Gerber and their two kids) at Disney Land. They were there at park opening through a regular entrance with season passes and no handlers. They waited in line at least once because she saw them. I don't know the way it works typically.:confused3

eta: Yes, she (the whole fam damily actually!) is "other worldly beautiful in person."

They can and they do if they would like to do so. And so can us less important visitors who aren't celebs. :rotfl:

Wish I can remember the celeb who tried to be normal and it caused a mob scene. But I think those brain cells got lost about 2 or 3 pregnancies ago.:rotfl:

I knew the VIP tour was able to be purchased by anyone. I didn't know that was front of line too!

I never watched that other dancing show but if TPTB want to really see the ratings continue on DWTS than maybe they should switch pros.

It was explained on the Theme parks board...

FP skips with no FP--so not literally front of the line, and depending on your guide, there are ways that are not official that they can get you through without waiting in the general line on rides that do not have fast passes.

I doubt Kates crew was literally shoved past all guests to the literal front spot of the line to get the very next ride.

I know at WDW, Matt Lauer's entourage didn't have to wait. His kids rode the teacups at the same time as mine. LOL

but, I bet no celebrity has to wait in line at WDW or DL, unless they want to. Regular people can pay for the same privilege, I think!

I just saw something on the news that she was using her kids to garner votes last night? Is that true? They made it sound like she was saying, "You can't send me home because my kids will be devastated." Can anyone confirm? I'm lazy today and don't want to read back several pages. ;)

I just caught the intro voiceover of today's Oprah episode and she said "Infamous practically overnight- the most scrutinized Mom in America Nadya Suleman." I guess Oprah never read this thread ;)

While introducing all her babies she actually has to hold their heads back to see their faces to figure out which one it is, either that or she needs an extra second to remember their names. Yikes!

She should do what I do with my foster kittens that look alike. Just mark their inititals in their ears with indelible ink, and hope the other kitten (or baby in this case) doesn't lick it out, because even indelible ink comes off with kitten spit!

She's on the show because she has all those kids. I have no doubt they want her to stay (producers and kids) and that both she and the producers want her to mention the kids to get her votes. She didn't say it just like that, but she did say the kids want her to stay and would be disapponted if she left. They get their popcorn set up to watch it on tape. I wouldn't have expected that she wouldn't mention the kids, any less than Buzz telling people who like the space program to vote for him. It's the gimic and reason she is on. Without the kids she wouldn't be known.
