Yes.
(and I hesitated to even bring this up, because it is a sensitive and difficult issue for so many parents, and I didn't want my words to be hurtful in any form or fashion to anyone)
In the speech Kate gave in March 2009, she mentions the 7th embryo/fetus (honestly, I don't remember what she called it) and that it was absorbed, and how Jon & Kate focused on a healthy rest of the pregnancy for Kate. Jon & Kate were understandably shaken by the loss, but were prayerful and moved forward. At no time did Kate mention that she felt it was a girl, nor did she mention a name.
For those who read Multiple Blessings, was it mentioned in the book? I'm thinking that it was, but can't be sure.
This is one of those things that I refuse to speculate on. Everyone handles loss in their own way. Maybe Kate felt it was the right time to bring it up.
Fair enough--I do think the timing is weird though and will leave it at that.
while we tour the MK, or Epcot.

what happened with the nanny?

Tom did offer a group hug as an alternative to the final dance.
When asked where her inner strength, drive, stems from, she said "it's who I am." No parents, no nothing mentioned or there for her. I thought it was sad. She talks about nobody but her kids (aka 8 little friends). That's alot of pressure.
