I just don't understand if Jon wanted out and TLC wanted to get rid of him why they couldn't have parted along time ago amicably?

Because if Jon is not under contract with them he is out of their control. He could say/do what he wants regarding badmouthing TLC and could possibly pull the kids from the show as he's threatening to do now.

Have to say - go Larry! He's pressing them...

So let me get this straight...

Mr. Hotshot Lawyer says they can't rename the show & they can't use the same production if they make a new show with out Jon.....Cause it's in the contract.

But in the next breathe, he says there is no contract & it's void. :confused3

I might believe they didn't have the first one looked over, but c'mon, how many contracts do you think they've had to sign over the past 5 years. If they didn't it was certainly their own stupidity (perhaps greed blinded them)

I wonder if they signed a multi-year deal? Anyone know?

Maybe if the lawyer didn't kept bringing up the $186 million TLC made last year you might almost think that maybe they really cared a little bit that the show might not be good for the kids.

I think the lawyer keeps bring the $$ up because the $$ has been a big point of interest to everyone.

$$$$that's what it's all about$$$$

Well, nothing to earth shattering was said by Jon. I was thinking there would be a little more. It made me sad watching him watch the Kate interview. I wish they could work it out. I know they can't but it would be a nice ending.

I think he's making a contrast....TLC made $186 million yet the Gosselin's only saw 1 million of that.

Oh man, Kate's lawyer is on now!

Why does he think it is relevant how much TLC made? They aren't the only family on TLC. Surely other families bring in $$$ too. Quite honestly, I watch the Duggars, Little People & Say Yes to the Dress regularly...as often as J&K.

Also - I don't buy the $1 million last year - for the whole family. How many episodes did they do last year?

Jon just said that he wants the kids off tv so that they can as a family work through this divorce. Larry then asked him if Kate wants the same and he said she doesn't. No matter his motives, he is right about the kids.

He's trying to paint TLC as Goliath and poor Jon as David. Really - it's a business! If TLC wasn't making $$$ there wouldn't be a show.
We've been watching the ratings fall and if Jon really wanted the show to go away he could have let it die a natural TV death. But there wouldn't be anything in it for him - at the very least he's going to get a book deal out of this when all is said and done.

Can you imagine what Kate would say if Jon called him and said I want the show to stop. I think her head would blow off.

I don't trust Jon or his motives behind stopping the show. But the kids will at least get to stop working for a while (maybe a nice loooong while). Meanwhile, maybe TLC should have had a lawyer to speak since that's what it all still seems to be about.

Larry just asked Kate's lawyer if it's better for the kids to remain on tv. Then Kate's lawyer went on to say what gives Jon the right to decide what's harming his kids!! Hello! He's their father. What an idiot.

I agree with this.

I also agree w/ Kate's lawyer. It seems that Jon wants the battle to play out in the media rather than the court room. His lawyer keeps referring to trying this is the court of the public eye.

I think Jon's afraid of going before a judge. I'm sure Judge Judy would see right through them all!:rotfl:

If they close down the show, how does Jon propose to pay the bills? He is pitiful and so determined to "get even" with TLC that he's willing to "throw his family under the bus" to do it. If he really loved them then he would be shielding them from his relationship with Hailey and all of his other escapades. He has shamed himself.

Then Kate's lawyer went on to say what gives Jon the right to decide what's harming his kids!! Hello! He's their father.

He's their father, but should he get to single-handedly decide that it's over...with no real explanation? If Jon & Kate disagree - let a court decide.
