He's their father, but should he get to single-handedly decide that it's over...with no real explanation? If Jon & Kate disagree - let a court decide.

He did explain, he thinks it's harming the kids while they're all going through this divorce. What other explanation is there? It's so ridiculous, they're fighting over whether or not to make the kids continue to be on tv. Pull the plug.

Kate's lawyer had to state that the arbitrator they have been assigned is for economical negotiations/agreements, any issues regarding decisions they need to make regarding the children need to go before a judge if they cannot agree between themselves. Jon seemed to not understand that there is a difference between finances and children....and his lawyer didn't seem to get that at all!

I think Jon's afraid of going before a judge. I'm sure Judge Judy would see right through them all!:rotfl:

Judge Millian (sp?) of the People's Court.....She'd eat them both up!

He did explain, he thinks it's harming the kids while they're all going through this divorce. What other explanation is there?

He repeatedly says he wants the show to stop, it's harming the kids.....how? If he'd just come out & say something like....Mady doesn't enjoy it, or the Papparazzi is becoming too dangerous, or something anything of the sort then I'd believe he was doing it for the all the right reasons. But it seems he's doing it out of spite.

Don't get me wrong...I think it's time for a looong overdue break. But IMO he's doing this for himself & his image.

I really hope we don't see any more of this. Anything more to do with this divorce/custody needs to be behind closed doors for the sake of these kids. We'll all know the outcome soon enough - just don't need to be privy to all the nastiness. That show just made me feel like I was watching something I shouldn't. It seemed like Jon was trying to use it to apologize to Hailey about his past mistakes - this time he didn't deny Kate 2.0 or Stephanie. Ick!
I'm done...that cured me of my need to know.

We know Mady hasn't enjoyed it in the past. Someone today posted her 'no filming' sign on the thread. I agree though, I wish he'd have said why. Although he did say that he wants them to work on this as a family and I suppose that would be difficult to do with the kids filming with Kate and then with him. I'm sure his reasons are partly (ok mostly) selfish but I do think he believes the kids need space to deal with all this. It will be interesting to see what Kate says next or what proceedings take place regarding the kids.

Jon just said that he wants the kids off tv so that they can as a family work through this divorce. Larry then asked him if Kate wants the same and he said she doesn't. No matter his motives, he is right about the kids.

Motives right or wrong, if Jon was doing this for the kids, he would be getting a babysitter for the kids and battling it out with Kate -1 on 1, and not on Larry King (same goes for Kate). There is so much going on right now that is personal between the two of them and everything they do is to spite the other and nothing to do with the kids. The phrase "bite off the nose to spite the face" comes to mind. They need to "have it out", fight, cry, cuss, yell with no kids, cameras, paps, etc. around, just get it all out between the two of them. Hopefully Kate wouldn't beat the crap out of him.:)

If they close down the show, how does Jon propose to pay the bills? He is pitiful and so determined to "get even" with TLC that he's willing to "throw his family under the bus" to do it. If he really loved them then he would be shielding them from his relationship with Hailey and all of his other escapades. He has shamed himself.

What a load of crap that Jon and his lawyer threw out tonight! I do not believe a single word that came out of Jon's mouth. He jumped on the end the show brandwagon because TLC was going to cut him out and not let him do the other show he wanted to do for another network. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE KIDS or his "concern" for the kids. He is a jerk. I hate him now more than ever.

His lawyer was a complete idiot!

I really feel for Kate for putting up with Jon for 10 years! He is something else!

Also, wasn't that Denise Richards allowed to do a reality TV show with her kids even though her EX (Balwin) did not want the kids involved? Am I wrong here? Some judge agreed to that.

Wow, Larry is really hitting him with difficult questions.

Which begs the question, why didn't he give Kate hard hitting questions?

$$$$that's what it's all about$$$$

For all parties involved, except the children.

Jon just said that he wants the kids off tv so that they can as a family work through this divorce. Larry then asked him if Kate wants the same and he said she doesn't. No matter his motives, he is right about the kids.

I agree.

Can you imagine what Kate would say if Jon called him and said I want the show to stop. I think her head would blow off.

I think her head would spin around 3 times and then blow off.

I don't trust Jon or his motives behind stopping the show. But the kids will at least get to stop working for a while (maybe a nice loooong while). Meanwhile, maybe TLC should have had a lawyer to speak since that's what it all still seems to be about.

I think Kate's lawyer is a TLC lawyer.

Larry just asked Kate's lawyer if it's better for the kids to remain on tv. Then Kate's lawyer went on to say what gives Jon the right to decide what's harming his kids!! Hello! He's their father. What an idiot.

The TLC statement also seemed like it was saying something similar. DUH, he's the father, that's what gives him the right. I thought Kate's lawyer seemed really arrogant.

I also agree w/ Kate's lawyer. It seems that Jon wants the battle to play out in the media rather than the court room. His lawyer keeps referring to trying this is the court of the public eye.

And Kate doesn't. Do I need to link to the People articles, the View, the Today show? She's been in the media from the moment divorce was mentioned. Remember the first article, "I don't know if we are getting divorced" with the hurt baby bird pose? Jon finally got a lawyer that knows what he is doing and knows how to handle the press.

I believe you're right & I thought it was Charlie Sheen. He couldn't prove to a judge how it would harm the children & why they shouldn't film.

Jon said he has tried to talk to Kate and she will not return his calls. There is only so much he can do if she doesn't agree to meet/talk.

The kids were barely on that show. It was mostly a show about Denise. J&K is all about the kids. It is a totally different show dynamic.

Kate said the same thing months ago when this all started. I can't blame her for not wanting to talk NOW, everything he's done has been done to hurt her just because he can - IMO.

ETA: Oops, hit enter too soon. If Jon had "manned up" a few years ago maybe they could've worked things out. Also, Kate always came across as a witch to Jon, well if the actions of the past few mo. I can see why, she didn't need a 9th child to raise.

ITA with this, the bolded part especially. It will be good for the kids to have a break no matter what -- 40 shows in one season would have been too much under normal circumstances, especially now that all of the kids are in school (so they have less free time)

Can you imagine what Kate would say if Jon called him and said I want the show to stop. I think her head would blow off.

Yup -- you're right about this.

He did explain, he thinks it's harming the kids while they're all going through this divorce. What other explanation is there? It's so ridiculous, they're fighting over whether or not to make the kids continue to be on tv. Pull the plug.

Exactly.

Some other points I picked out:
Jon did post that sign on the gate (and can't spell.)

Her lawyer repeated what Kate said in her statement, which repeated what TLC said in its statement, that Jon was filming with the kids on Friday. But Jon said that that was Kate's custody day, and he has no control over what she does on those days -- he says he got a phone call from Mady that they were filming that day. Somebody is wrong about their dates here.

Also, her lawyer kept referring to Jon suddenly changing his mind about the show after TLC fired him. But Jon's lawyer had already discussed that, stating that they had been communicating with TLC, and showed a letter from TLC refusing to stop taping dated on the 25th. Kate's lawyer really should have been watching while he was waiting to go on.

Jon was talking to Jodi today -- wonder how that went...

...with the hurt baby bird pose?
:lmao: :rotfl2: That's the first I've heard that one.

Jon said he has tried to talk to Kate and she will not return his calls. There is only so much he can do if she doesn't agree to meet/talk.

This needs to be discussed before a judge or arbitraitor. It would really do no good for her to answer his calls. They are both filled with such hate & anger right now, they'd get nowhere.

Kate avoids the hard hitting questions when she is asked which is not often.

I agree with you :thumbsup2.

How do we know how long Jon has tried to stop the show? According to many articles coming out today he has been discussing doing this for weeks. People have said he is doing this because of TLC changing the name etc yesterday. The letters that his lawyer were sent yesterday yes, but I would bet there wer drafted BEFORE yesterday and just delivered yesterday.

I for one am happy that he wants the taping to stop, I don't care if it is for selfish reasons or not, get the kids off the TV and into COUNSELING for the divorce and being forced into the public eye.

I'm done...that cured me of my need to know.

I liked when Larry asked Jon about DeAnna or Kate2 (forget which one) and Jon said it was irrevelant. Irrevelant? Okay. He didn't out and out deny it.

:lmao: :rotfl2: That's the first I've heard that one.

That's what it reminded me of...

I agree, they are both so angry right now nothing would get solved. I was just saying he has tried, she says she has tried, so once again, we are back at square one.

I also think that Jon's new attorneys are just money grubbing sleezes. They see a big paycheck at the end and they are working this for all they can. Jon is really getting some bad advice from all his PR people and his new friends. This is just going to get uglier and uglier.

I totally agree with this and find myself feeling sorry for Jon even though he got himself into this mess. That attorney is out for himself and does not have Jon's best interest at heart. Why won't the man hang out with better people? He chooses trashy women, shady friends (Michael Lohan) and now a lawyer that is more of the same.

well they may have placed a bodyguard at the home but really that could be explained by the mass amounts of paparazzi they came out when Jon started clubbing. House arrest...seriously? He was always out with the ladies!

Exactly, TLC was not controlling where Jon was spending his time. Not that it really matters but Jon's body language screamed that he was lying when Larry asked him about having an affair with Stephanie Santoro.

Well, nothing to earth shattering was said by Jon. I was thinking there would be a little more. It made me sad watching him watch the Kate interview. I wish they could work it out. I know they can't but it would be a nice ending.

It made me sad too, watching the scene where they kissed and hugged each other, I wish for the fairy tale ending as well.

I agree with this.

I also agree w/ Kate's lawyer. It seems that Jon wants the battle to play out in the media rather than the court room. His lawyer keeps referring to trying this is the court of the public eye.

Why doesn't Jon's attorney want to go to court? He said more than once that he guarantees TLC will not shoot another episode and yet it was quite obvious he does not want to go to court. They wanted to do this on tv in the "court of public opinion"...good grief.

I still think this was about money, Jon plans on having a very successful future doing a reality tv show with Michael Lohan about divorced dads. And the little blurb his lawyer gave about Jon wanting to be a role model for other divorced dads fits right in with the show he wants to do.
