I hope you are wrong and we just aren't seeing it. Those are the bonding elements of parent and child.

It struck me while I watched some of last night's episode that while Jon and Kate strive to make the best of their time with the kids, filling every moment with excitement in an effort to make memories, they are losing what is really important about being a family: the day-to-day interaction - homework, mealtimes, trips to the grocery store, etc., when they can really hear what their kids have to say instead of fishing for cute sound bites.

In the past I might have defended them by saying that the show is just a small part of their lives, and it allows them to do some really neat stuff. But I am starting to get the impression that the day-to-day is being handled by babysitters and nannys.

I remember when DDs were little. I treasured Christmases, birthdays vacations and made sure they were special for the kids. What I should have been treasuring were diaper changes, nursing and drives to school. Those are the memories that parents are made of.

About where Kate lives. The paps can't figure that out? I don't believe they wouldn't print it, if they knew she lived in Maryland.

I think it is amusing that they don't know where she is going. So many people comment that Kate loves the attention from the paps...seems to me if that were the case, she would make sure the paps knew where she was going when she has to leave the kids. :confused3

So what does he suggest? That they talk to the kids on TV about the divorce so we can see how sad they are? I'm glad they aren't doing that.
Does he think they should all live in the house together so they can fight in front of the kids?
Of course the kids are sad to see the other parent go..they would be in any divorce. So, is it better the kids get to stay in the house and the parents leave, or does he think one parent should stay and the kids go back and forth?

He thinks they should stop filming the kids. period.

I didn't realize it was that long. I thought he traveled with her at first, and didn't stay home until much later. I'm sure Madge will have a time line.

believe it or not, I don't have a timeline for this one. I did check the old episode list, and in early 2008, there are mentions of Kate is doing this while Jon is at work. That stopped mid-Spring. He was working with/for Bob for a time, but don't remember when that was. I'd say it's safe to say he hasn't worked outside the home for someone other than himself or the family in over a year.

Kate started doing more traveling last fall, building up to the (now infamous, LOL) book tour schedule of the spring.

are you suggesting he drinks at home while he's with the children? wow.

We know he drinks while he is at the house since we know he goes to the local bar.

People do drink at home even when they have children. Don't you ever have a drink at home?

This guy has blogged about Jon and Kate since practically day one. He's always been a staunch supporter of the children. I think he's been consistent and fair in his articles about Jon & Kate, as well as the show. I think he wants the parents to grow up and be parents. I'd probably go as far to say that he thinks the kids should not be going through all this in the spotlight.

there is a lot of speculation about the paps. lots of rumors about who's paying them, etc. That there may be $$ to keep that info quiet.

:happytv:

Oh. Dear. ... for as pretty as Kate looked yesterday ... today?

and they have her in the center of the table today. interesting.

I don't believe it was that long, there were two book tours lasting just a few months each. At most he did that for a total of 6 months.

The book tours were when? sometime last year. And he didn't go back to work when that was done -- he was at home with the kids until June of this year.

are you suggesting he drinks at home while he's with the children? wow.

Yes, I was going to question that statement as well. It bothers me when people post stuff like this when there is no evidence of it, since people new to this thread will take it as fact.

Especially when the only reports of any parent drinking around the kids were about Kate, not Jon.

Thoughts as I'm watching ...

It's clear that there is awareness (outside of Kate saying she wants to be on a talk show ;) ) by someone in production that this is to test market Kate in a talk show format. Yesterday's show didn't allow Kate to shine, and in today's show, Barbara has already made a point to "highlight" Kate's presence and allowed her to share opinions about Patrick Swayze. That didn't happen yesterday.

I don't think Kate is comfortable with her hair like that, either. I don't mean that as a slam, I just mean I think she prefers and is more comfortable with her own hair. Most people do.

No, we don't know that. We don't even know how much he drinks at the local bar -- I know a lot of people who can go to bars and not have a drink (DH did it last night)

drinking at a bar does not mean he drinks at the house. have there ever been pictures published of Jon drinking while he's with the children?

there are also reports of Kate drinking wine.

I didn't watch either so I'm only going by what I've read on this thread....

If that's what Kate said, we saw the Sam's Club (or whatever store) episode where she bought Eggo waffles and that kind of stuff. We know it's not 100% organic all the time. I would like to see her change that "answer" to that they're trying to include as many organic things as possible. I think that would be a little more believable and appropriate unless there's a valid health reason or something (backyard garden) that they only eat organic.

I thought Kate loved cooking - maybe she did because that was her quiet time before? I'm not sure. I thought from previous episodes - probably most recently the Emeril episode - that Kate made the meals, froze them and reheated. That's what I would do and we only have four in our family if I had the time to cook in large portions and the freezer space to store it all.

I don't know that Kate's "phoney" but things don't always add up all the time - I think that's the case with anyone though - making a blanket statement around friends who may know the "history" behind the comment (in reference to Kate - not you). For example, my DS5 tells people he will "get dead" if he touches a dog, peanuts, shellfish, cats, horses, grass, weeds, trees, eggs, potatoes or anything else that he's allergic to. He will look you in the eye and tell you "I can't have that. I will get dead". Now for those who don't know my DS5, they're shocked For those who know him, we know he can pet a dog but it cannot kiss him and he needs to wash his hands right away or we'll have a problem. If Kate's definition of "cooking for her kids" is making the meals and freezing them to reheat later, than that's the truth to her. (and I'm guessing Jon's happy to not have to cook when he's there if she's making the meals!)

I agree.

I mean I could say I feed my son organic and don't give him junk food.....but I can't say that's 100% accurate all the time. Although my son doesn't get junk food everyday, he has eaten cookies, chips and french fries....it's just not an everyday thing. I think she needs to change her answer to..."I limit my kids intake on junk food as much as possible". I think that would be more appropriate.

I mean didn't we just see an episode where they had smores???? I dont think Kate means to be fake about it...she just isn't answering the question accurately.

Exactly...I will have a drink on occasion when DH and I got out to dinner but we do not drink at home. I won't/don't/will not drink in front of my son.

Dr. Phil has been a huge support for Kate.

He's not a fan of reality shows and thinks they're bad for marriages.Cameras in the house are bad, he says.

Kate still believes and maintains that the show had nothing to do with the divorce.

They're making it easy for Kate to take the high road... today's show is exactly what I thought it would be. It's as if they've muzzled Sherry. She hasn't said a word today.

Just parsing words here -- I think Kate knows that if she ever said the show was responsible for the divorce it would be over in a flash. She knows where her money comes from and she's pretty good at repeating the PR messages (total opposite to Jon that way)

Whether she believes it might be another thing -- she might believe that it was worth losing Jon to keep the show.

Watching parts of The View today...Kate so fit's in with that group of hens. ..(sorry..and I watch it from time to time..but they still seem like a gaggle of hens!) Oh..the drama of these ladies create out of nothing. It's a perfect home for her. She fits in seamlessly. I wouldn't be surprised if she was made a permanent part of the show at some point in the future.
ooo..then she and John will both be spending time in NY. The tabloids will have a field day!:rotfl:

re: drinking at home ...

I thought about this for a minute after I made a couple of posts.

If Jon and Kate want to drink in their home, that's their business. Many, many people drink at home, and while I choose not to, that isn't where I intended the point of my posts to be directed.

The suggestion that Jon is the more laid back parent ... and is copacetic when he's got his beverages and "nanny" at home is what bothers me. We have no way to know what Jon or Kate does inside their home. We've never seen Jon or Kate drink, even though we know they both do. In fact, we seldom see any of the rumored behavior that's out there. There's no way for any of us to KNOW anything.
