Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

OK, I am sitting in the race trailer, in Pennsylvania, cold and it is raining out. I thought it would be nice and warm out.
I got to talking to some PA moms, and I asked them if they knew were the J&K8 house was.
They all laughed, and they all knew exactly where the house was. (their house is about an hour east of the track).
We were all suppose to be watching our kids race, and they we were all talking about J&K8.
We are all agreeing that Jon is a turd, and ya Kate did have her moments, but we all thought TLC focused to much on her, and Jon slid under the radar.

It was me who posted that comment first. As for being a part-time dad, that is what divorce means: each parent is a part-time single parent. But I would consider them part-time parents in any case -- they do have a nanny.

I disagree that divorce means being a part-time parent. No, divorced parents don't get to see their kids everyday. But divorced parents who are really committed to their kids still show up on non-costodial days to drive soccer car pools, haul to doctor and dentist appts., watch school plays and ballgames or attend parent conferences. These are divorced parents who are trying to make the best of a bad situation. Some divorced parents (the impression I'm getting from Jon) is that when he isn't "on-duty" his life is his own. I work with a lady like this. In fact, I'm sure it was the real she finally decided to divorce. Some people are too selfish for the 24/7 requirement.

I also disagree that having a nanny makes either Jon or Kate part-time parents, with 8 kids even when the nanny is there, there is plenty of work to go around. I'm sure there have been two skinned knees at once or two kids that needed correction or re-direction. With 8 kids and no spouse, I would imagine a nanny only saves your sanity not allows you time to sit on your butt.

Hmmm the article says they are in town for a photo shoot, it doesn't say what for. WHY???? These kids should be AT HOME adjusting to their parents breaking up. They should be away from the public and NOT WORKING. This makes me mad.

Perhaps this is a good chance to get their minds off the fact that daddy and mommy are not both there. Perhaps this is normal for them...another trip. I'm not sure how staying at home would help them adjust.

I know someone ;) who took their grandson and his mom to Disney to make the adjustment , and I think it helped.

Perhaps that will be next weeks People cover?

sounds like it's something for or related to TLC:

Summer fun in the city? More likely just a short business trip.

Kate Gosselin and her eight children, plus two baby sitters and security, arrived at a midtown Manhattan hotel Saturday morning and stayed for a few hours before departing again, apparently headed to a TLC marketing event. Also on hand at the hotel were the Duggar family, stars of their own TV reality show, and Jen Arnold and Bill Klein of Little People: Just Married.

As the family walked through the marble lobby – with Jon Gosselin notably missing – Kate impatiently told one of her sextuplets, evidently in response to a question, "Yes, this is where we are staying."

Every member of the family, featured on the TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, wore light summer attire: Kate, 34, was in jeans and high strappy sandals, her twin girls, 8, in pink and white stripped dresses. The five-year-old sextuplets: girls in yellow dresses, boys in blue shorts and shirts.

By the time they left, nearly four hours later, each of the Gosselins had changed into new, color-coordinated outfits.

Meanwhile, Jon Gosselin, 32, was spotted at his new apartment on Broadway, dropping off belongings and a large flat screen TV. He recently reunited with the kids after a vacation in the south of France with his new girlfriend Hailey Glassman.

Kate left her home on Friday to help Jon take the kids to the doctors. http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/07/jon-and-kate-take-their-eight-doctor

I don't know if Jon would do the same thing while living in NYC. :confused3

OMG, Jon doesn't have on an Ed Hardy shirt. :faint:

I love the picture of Kate walking and the caption says "Kate doesn't look very happy." I mean, really she's just walking by herself, she'd look a little silly if she had a big smile on her face.

I am totally disgusted with the cover of the latest PEOPLE magazine (I subscribe or I never would have bought it). I am totally disgusted with Jon. If he cared so much about his CHILDREN he wouldn't be out flaunting his girlfriend in front of everyone. And no matter what anyone thinks of Kate, how disrespectful to his WIFE (since that is what she still is) to be carrying on like this. If his marriage was so bad, then this would be the time to concentrate on his FAMILY and not on his......you can fill in the blank! Maybe this is what Kate was dealing with for a long time - Jon's total immaturity. Kate is not a saint, but it must have been tough dealing with NINE children all that time. Grow up Jon, your 15 minutes are UP!

So true.

Well, when we discussed this 40 pages ago, I believe the reason Jon was looking for a place in NY was because he was going to get a job there. And with no college education, that would be the best place to get a job in IT -- it also would mean he could work in one location rather than having to travel all over the place, as many people in IT do.

And goodnight, everybody. :)

Isn't that kind of hard to do (look for an IT job) when you're in St. Tropez, filming for your show and planning to take your barely legal GF on a real vacation after? I wonder where job hunting fits into this schedule!

where is Kate on her non-custodial days?

I read somewhere (I want to say OMG Yahoo) that Kate left after Jon returned and had a place of her own about 1/2 hour away. It was the story I believe, with the picture of her hugging Mady good-bye.

It was me who posted that comment first. As for being a part-time dad, that is what divorce means: each parent is a part-time single parent. But I would consider them part-time parents in any case -- they do have a nanny.

Kate may have an apartment closer to the home, but she would still be doing public speaking engagements and book tours if they didn't get cancelled. I just find it interesting that you bash Jon for getting an apartment 2.5 hours away, but aren't criticizing Kate for attending a conference in California.

Not the same thing at all. Is Kate living in California where her conference was? No, she had a meeting there. What's Jon doing in NY? Working? I don't think so (I could be wrong but I it doesn't appear to be the case). If Kate had moved 2-3 hours away from the kids, I'd feel the same way. However Jon 'chose' to move to NY. Do you honestly think he couldn't get an IT job in his hometown? I personally don't even think he's looking for one but that's just my opinion. Obviously he's not hurting for $ if he can afford a posh bachelor pad apartment in Manhattan's upper west side.

I also don't agree with the 'part time parent'. Just because you're divorced, doesn't mean you can turn off the parenting switch when it's not your day to have the kids. Case in point...when I was 14 I had a concussion while at my Dad's house for the weekend. My Mom was there lickity split because they (my Mom and Dad) only lived about 40 minutes from each other. So, it was my Dad's weekend but obviously my Mom was available because she was close by. If Mom couldn't take me to a certain Dr. appt. because she was working, then Dad did it even though he wasn't supposed to have me till the weekend. IMO I would've considered them both full time parents despite the fact they were divorced.

The thing that really gets me about all the Jon & Hailey pictures is all the posing and there are so many of them. Jon was flaunting Hailey, they could have gone somewhere quietly and not had all those pictures taken. He did that on purpose with no thought at all about the kids. I was at Walgreen's today and it seemed like every mag cover had them on the front. He knew that would happen. Kate is one thing, it sucks for her, but she is an adult, but for the kids, how could they not see those pictures somewhere? Drugstore, grocery store, Target, hotel giftshop, gas station, ect..and when they say "Mommy, who is that lady with daddy?" what is she supposed to say? He really makes me sick.

Perhaps it is a photo shoot so TLC can promote them yet again for ratings, perhaps it is just another way the kids are working, perhaps it is a good opportunity for photographers to put more crap on radaronline.

At least if they were at home they can be further away from the photographers. How long until they are shouting out "Hey Kate what do you think about Jon and his new girlfriend, etc", because they will NOT care if it hurts the kids or not, they want reactions from Kate, Jon, the kids whoever they can get it from.

A Disney trip for them to adjust would never happen, unless TLC was taping it.
The photographers would follow them constantly.

This is no way for kids to get used to their parents divorcing. This show should stop and they should get to have a normal childhood. Oh and before anyone says they "need the show" for their income, many people make a living without a camera in their children's faces.

Maybe Jon did not wear an Ed Hardy shirt to the doctor because it would have definitely been an "in your face" to Kate. Plus, people at the octor's may have made comments and asked questions.

For one in a long time, I think Jon made a good, right decision to choosing to wear something other than Ed Hardy.

Perhaps it's one of those reasons. As both of us pointed out, it could be for one of many reasons. That's the point I was making too.

There better be a way for kids to get used to parents divorcing..over 50% of them are. I know several older kids and adults that are happy their parents got a divorce. It made for a more peaceful homelife for them. And yes, IMO most kids do eventually get over it. How about it, kids of divorced parents..did you ever get over it? Would staying at home all the time have helped with that, instead of excursions? You would all know better than me.

I have no idea why K & J are continuing with the show, but it's their call, their kids, their jobs. They get to decide if they continue, for whatever reason (money may be one of them..perhaps Kate doesn't wish to live like a family of nine often lives (if they don't have high paying jobs), and they like the security) they continue. Just like the other reality show people and parents who work demanding jobs and are away from their children a lot.

The good thing for you and others that feel this way, is you get to have a choice on if you want to watch and follow the show. If it really bothers you (general you), turn it off, don't comment on it, and if enough people do that, it will not be on TV.

What's her name, Hailey? She is ugly and looking for her 15 minutes of fame, as far as I'm concerned. This whole divorce brings me back to my own, Jon really needs to take a step back and think about his kids and the woman he married....yes, maybe it is different now, but there was something there at the beginning that made you want to marry this woman, maybe you just need a little help and time to get back to that.....I think people just give up to soon and too easily....it makes me sad.

Yes it is very difficult for children to adapt to divorce. But I think it partly depends on why the parents are divorcing. My parents divorced due to infidelity and that was hard for me. However, I will say that how parents handle themselves during the divorce will greatly impact how their children will handle it. My parents made a mess of it by calling one another horrible names and then using my sister and I as barganing chips to hurt the other one. Kids shouldn't be subjected to that garbage. They need to be reassured of their parent's love regardless of their marital status and then follow that up with their actions. I am now a 30 something married woman and just recently put all that divorce garbage behind me. Circumstances came to light regarding one of my parents and well, it changed everything.

So again, I think if J&K are sensitive to their kids needs during this, they will most likely come out fine. Who knows how horrible the fighting was between them and how it affected all the kids. Maybe it will be better for them not to be married so they can have peace. Only time will tell. Sitting home (for my sister and I) was the worst thing we could've done during the divorce. We wanted life to be normal and moving ahead. I appreciated the distraction of our trips we took with seperate parents. It's really hard to predict what the Gosselin kids are feeling or will be feeling about the divorce and show. They seem well adjusted and happy kids so hopefully that will continue. J&K have the power to help them through this in as painless a way as possible. That would be my goal if I were them.

Or maybe Hailey doesn't know how to do laundry.

:lmao:

I doubt Jon was "being kind" not wearing Ed Hardy today, the laundry issue seems more likely because when he came to the house after his St. Tropez vacation after all the pictures had hit he was wearing a particulary gaudy EH shirt.

My personal feeling is that we won't really know all of the details until a long time from now.

Hmmm, I dunno, I kind of think that we'll hear all the details from HAILEY when Jon drops her for his next young thing, and she'll probably make millions $$$ doing it!
