My guess is, we will have about 3 days of HEAVY MJ coverage. (of course garbage shows like ET and Inside Edition will be harping on the the same couple of sentences for a couple of months)_ Then after 3 days, we will see the Farrah coverage that gets pushed back because of MJ. Then just about then, Kate will be FREAKING out that she has had a cover of a rag mag sporting her pouty "poor me" face in over a week, and she will have some new "announcement" for us, or media statement exposing her childrens most private moments of handling divorce.... or she will be doing store runs in her bikini, or will get cuddly with the bodyguard just enough for a pap to catch it. She is desperate for attention and since her show is on hiatus, she will have to do something.

I think Michael will be the news for a bit. First he died suddenly and now the OD'ing rumors are already started.

This will knock J & K off the tabloids for bit while we get the "true" stories on Michael Jackson.

The tabloids will get their last digs in on both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett for a few weeks. I am sure Jon and Kate will both be relieved to have the focus elsewhere for a bit.

Kate might have to do something real wacky to ge the attention back on her in the next few days.

I wonder if any one else on this thread thought a little bit about MJ's numerous interviews where he expressed how negatively his life was impacted as child forced to be in front of the camera . This was the common thread that brought him and Elizabeth Taylor so close and something they both said was so hard for others to understand?

Just a thought I had.

I did think of that. He was another child star who had a lot of troubles.

My question to Kate would be: what would it take to get you to stop filming your kids?

(Actually, I am one who is for the kids, and this may be a blessing in disguise. I never wish ill on anyone, but given that the tabloids will follow the MJ story for the next few weeks, it might give the Gosselins a "break" and perhaps they will rethink their fame. Just a thought...)

I don't mean to be snarky, really, but I think we are all for the kids, we just don't all agree on what is best for the kids :)

That said, I in no way wanted to see either of these celebrities die and I'm very sad about it :sad2:, but I do hope that it will provide some relieve for J & K and their family. It's a sad way to provide relieve, that's for sure.

I wonder what Lisa Presley (who as I'm sure you all know was married to Michael) is thinking about this. I'm sure it brings back memories of her dad. Her face should show up soon on the mags.

We so think alike!! Hey my great grandfather was from Canada, maybe we are related!

And I have some distant ancestors from the US, England, Scotland and France -- maybe it is a small world after all LOL

Hmm...this is interesting. ;)

Unfortunately, I think you're probably right about this.

The interesting thing is that MJ had a lot of times when the cameras were not on him (just the opposite of the The Plus 8), and for the past 20 years he was pretty much a recluse to avoid the paparazzi and the press.

And, I thought I should post this link about an open letter from the surviving Dionne Quints to the McCaughey's (they had 7 kids born together)

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,987457,00.html

It reads:

ADVICE FROM THE DIONNE QUINTUPLETS
By ANNETTE DIONNE; CECILE DIONNE; YVONNE DIONNE

Before the McCaugheys, the most famous multiple births--by far--were the Dionne quintuplets, five identical girls born to a French-Canadian farmer and his wife in Corbeil, Ont., on May 28, 1934. The media got wind of the event when the father called the local newspaper to ask whether a birth announcement for five babies would cost the same as one. An enterprising journalist filed a wire-service report, and the quints--Annette, Emilie, Yvonne, Cecile and Marie--became global celebrities. Three Hollywood movies were made of their lives; in the midst of the Depression, sales of Dionne dolls outstripped those of Shirley Temple.

This week the surviving Dionne sisters, Annette, Cecile and Yvonne, now 63, asked TIME to print this open letter to the McCaugheys:

Dear Bobbi and Kenny,

If we emerge momentarily from the privacy we have sought all our adult lives, it is only to send a message to the McCaughey family. We three would like you to know we feel a natural affinity and tenderness for your children. We hope your children receive more respect than we did. Their fate should be no different from that of other children. Multiple births should not be confused with entertainment, nor should they be an opportunity to sell products.

Our lives have been ruined by the exploitation we suffered at the hands of the government of Ontario, our place of birth. We were displayed as a curiosity three times a day for millions of tourists. To this day we receive letters from all over the world. To all those who have expressed their support in light of the abuse we have endured, we say thank you. And to those who would seek to exploit the growing fame of these children, we say beware.

We sincerely hope a lesson will be learned from examining how our lives were forever altered by our childhood experience. If this letter changes the course of events for these newborns, then perhaps our lives will have served a higher purpose.

Sincerely, Annette, Cecile and Yvonne Dionne

Sad, but true. I hope Jon and Kate get a chance to read this some time -- but Kate wouldn't care what anybody else has to say, I don't think.

The interesting thing is that MJ had a lot of times when the cameras were not on him (just the opposite of the The Plus 8), and for the past 20 years he was pretty much a recluse to avoid the paparazzi and the press. .

He also had a huge amount of times in the past 40 + years when they were on him. Cover after cover after cover. There were times when you couldn't get away from him. It is a shame that he had to hide to not get put on yet another cover. But as with Kate and Jon, when you do become that celebrity and people are interested in you (if for the good things you do, or the bad), it is what happens. And if you don't do enough bad, people will make it up anyway. If you do do enough bad, many people want to see it, over and over.
I don't think anyone realizes how much info people want, when you are in the public's eye. They go in it for one reason and it just becomes bigger than they are.
His troubles are over now. I hope the paparazzi leave his children alone.

Madge... she may not be wearing crocks, but the kids were today. Maybe her day will be tomorrow:confused3 Step 2 maybe:confused3. Maybe she is foreshadowing to us what will happen tomorrow. It might be a secret message just to us:laughing:

Hi Kate :wave2:

I bet Kate has a pair. I bet they sent her some when they sent the kids shoes. She probably wears them around the house where no one can see her. She'll slip up and wear them outside soon, I'm sure of it.
:upsidedow

Not sure why the eye roll was necessary as it's very clear to many that she is not the same person she was just a few years ago.

She used to be a "frumpy" stay at home mom that was more focused on her children then on her appearance. Sweats, manageable hair do, little make up and no sense of style as she admitted herself.

Now she is completely aware of how she is dressed, is styled to the nines most times(think dog "shopping"), goes to the spa, gets her nails done, tans, has begun working out and has lost weight and is now a career woman that travels for days on end.

I am not saying that in any sort of a negative way but she has definitely changed as well and is definitely MUCH different then she was 2 years ago.

I would agree that her look and her style have changed and I also don't see it negatively because, quite frankly, my style would change for the better too if I was suddenly in the public eye. And when my twins were infants/toddlers, I was a lot more frumpier than I am now, 10 years later, as there were days I never even had time to get dressed, let alone run a brush through my hair! :rotfl2: But put TV cameras in front of me half the week, and you better believe, I'd probably get my first manicure in years! ;)

Are you willing to commit to long term family counseling to assist you and the children as you all move forward with your life?

Okay, folks, I completely recognize that I may be in the minority and that taking sides is irrelevant and unproductive, BUT, that said, it's been my personal impression (and that's all it is) that Kate HAS been commited and willing to do whatever she could to make the marriage work. I think she has admitted to the fact that she is not faultless in this failure BUT my take is that Jon had a little too much fun going out without her, enjoyed the attention from some stupid 23 y.o. fan waaayyyy too much, and is now feeling like the last place he wants to be is home with his FAMILY! Honestly, I felt that in that interview segment, he literally shrugged his shoulders and said "Yeah, I'll miss them, but . . ." (but oh well!) And I felt that Kate on the other hand was really struggling through this. He actually had the nerve to say he's only 32 and looking forward to this next chapter! Wonder if he asked the kids how much they are looking forward to this next chapter?! JMHO! ;)

I totally agree. If you choose to do a job that takes you away from your kids, you still have to accept that it was a choice.

And I think it's funny (tragic) that she says Jon is confused ie. stupid to not want to continue on with the way things are. And, despite the fact that she says he doesn't want to be married to her anymore (sob), she also says that she wouldn't marry him the way he is now. :confused3

Handing out autographs for free, BTW -- maybe that's the issue

Hey, Kate. Do you ever watch yourself on the show? -- nah, she probably does and she doesn't see anything wrong with the way she acts.

I think she is well aware that she comes off as abrasive sometimes and I think she is aware that the choices both of them have made together have led them to this point but I can see where she is coming from in the decisions she makes. I don't necessarily always agree with her, simply that I understand the reasoning behind her decisions. Until I've brought six babies home at once with two additional children to raise, it's hard for me to say that I would turn down an opportunity to support them financially. Would I continue to do so under the strain? I honestly don't know but let's all remember that the paparazzi could not care less about Jon and Kate UNTIL Jon was out partying with coeds and coming out of other homes in the wee hrs of the morn! Then there was suddenly a story to print. But if the story remained Jon and Kate take kids again to the farm . . . well, you realize there would be no story of course! ;)

ITA . . . with the "garbage shows" harping on the same couple of sentences! :lmao: They just keep saying the same thing over and over! But I just wanted to speak up as perhaps one of the lone empathizers for this woman and say that I really don't think she thrives on the attention but simply knows how to manage it much better than he does. I can only guess that she does not enjoy standing in line at the market and seeing the horrible things that are printed about her and her family. Again, if I were in her shoes, perhaps I'd be doing interviews too to try to refute some of the garbage. Maybe not the best approach, but all I'm saying is I can understand why she does it. Okay, I've presented the other side of the coin . . . I'm sure it will be flipped again! :rotfl:

**And ladies, if you color your hair in any way shape or form you should wear a hat out in the sun to protect your hair. Especially if you visit a pool (Marge, did you hear me? Not sure if you color but you do go to the pool!!) ;) So as ridiculous as you think kate looks in her hat, she is protecting her hair from the sun and pool. :)

:: looks around for Marge ::

I don't know if Marge wears a hat, but Madge does. ;) Not all the time like I should .. but I do, especially when I know I'm going to be out all day.

So just because the paps are around, Kate shouldn't go out and do the things she would normally? What have we seen of her in pictures lately? (And I don't mean the b**bs!) She's gone to Starbucks, Target, the grocery store, played in her yard on her property, gone to the car dealership, and the party store. What is so 'attention grabbing' about that? Those are all places I go to regulary (esp. Starbucks but I think I have an addiction!). I don't see how her doing any of those things means she's desperate for attention.

Unfortunately, I think you're probably right about this.

This is really not the same thing at all IMO. The Dionne quints were taken from their family and raised by the Ontario government for years. They were tested and studied like lab rats and had a very regimented life. It was insane. When they were returned to their parents after something like 9 years, it was believed that their father later sexually abused them. So really their tragic, sad story is very far from being similar to the Gosselin kids. Here's a link to an article about the Dionne quintuplets:

Damnit, Madge.:headache: I'm blaming Doris for this!!! She started it and I finished it!! (where is that hammer bopping head smilie?!)
I have a client Marge and I wrote her name on my appointment book as Madge last week! :upsidedow Lord help me! (And I don't wear a hat to protect my highlights either.)

I think Michael will be the news for a bit. First he died suddenly and now the OD'ing rumors are already started.

This will knock J & K off the tabloids for bit while we get the "true" stories on Michael Jackson.

I did my nightly google scan of JK8 info, and there isn't nearly the info there was 6 hours ago. it's amazing, really.

I swear, I am not Buckalew. As I said a long time ago, it would be helpful if you just changed your name LOL.

I just watched Raising Sextuplets for the first time:lmao:

Oh, my goodness. Is there a thread started on them yet? Unbelievable! Did people really say they learned from K & J what not to do? She insists on keeping a tree and moving it from the front to the back, he doesn't want it, too much work to clean up after it, they keep it (of course, I didn't think he was going to win that one) and someone moves it (it's a huge tree) with a crane. He admits he likes it and she was right.

His mom comes in and does laundry with a friend..did they really say they do 35-40 loads??? Don't they do any in between the help coming? Who owns that many clothes? (I thought they said their cousin or niece also lives with them to help..or did, maybe not now?). Although he said he does laundry.

He said he does a lot (he watched the kids, although I saw someone in the background..may have been a camera person and not a helper while she was at work (they need the money, as they have been living off savings), and man, they were biting each other and hitting (sound familiar?) and oh so loud (the kids, not the camera person and the husband)...she called (again) when they were all crying and said something about feeding them. I couldn't hear what he said, for sure, but I thought something like he didn't like doing that but I may have heard that wrong. He did say he did the dishes, vacuumed, did laundry and then he said (I think she said it too) when she comes home she complains he doesn't do enough, that she works too, why are the kids hers as soon as she gets home (although I assume they are hers, because each time she called (and it was at least 3-4 times that we saw, she asked, how are my babies LOL..sound familiar?). He says they argue a lot, and they keep track of who does the most. He says they really need to stop keeping track. Oh, and he also said he would rather be working than staying home with the kids..again, sound familiar LOL?

She did let them play in the mud hole (although she took off at least one diaper and we got mooned LOL) from where the tree went, and grandpa (I believe it was her dad..her mom was also there helping (I was so nervous that the kids were right near where the tree was being lifted, what if it came loose?) gave all six a bath by himself (grandma had already said it was a handful at their age when they were outside..her mom I believe had six kids, but grandma said it was a lot different when it was one at a time) and one of them (did I say they shared them all naked, not that it bothered me, but I know it bothers some that K & J have let the private times show) started to climb out and fell on it's head, on the tile.

And that was the first half of the show. I"m off to watch the rest, and then the second show I taped.

Oh my..and people think this is better than K & J why?? I'm dizzy, so much was going on.

Oh, did I say they make remarks to and about each other LOL?

I finally got a chance to see Monday's episode since I was gone all week. Interesting.

What's up with parking in the handicap space at the brunch location? Being a large family may be a financial handicap, but doesn't qualify you for a parking permit (at least in my state). I thought that was pretty rude.

I didn't pick up on that (Jon didn't move it after the kids got out I assme?), but I also didn't see anyone else in the restaurant, so maybe TLC rented the entire place.

Many people have commented that if we stop posting, and stop watching and stop checking the sites that this story will go away.

My question is, do you think that this story will somewhat die given today's events (Michael Jackson's death) and a new tabloid cover story for the next few weeks?

I mean in three or four weeks (or however long this will be cover worthy news) I wonder if the tabloids will just pick up where they have left off with Jon and Kate or will they have found something new?

Just a question.....

(Actually, I am one who is for the kids, and this may be a blessing in disguise. I never wish ill on anyone, but given that the tabloids will follow the MJ story for the next few weeks, it might give the Gosselins a "break" and perhaps they will rethink their fame. Just a thought...)

Im not saying that a select few who stop posting will make the entire story go away. I was saying that if you feel so strongly about not supporting this show, TLC, what-have-you, then do something about it and stop posting and supporting websites and blogs that discuss them (which keep the paparazzi in business). Every little bit helps. I guess its a "dont complain about it unless you are willing to do something" kind of thing.

And for the record-- everyone who posts here, im pretty sure, is FOR THE KIDS.

As far as MJ... yes, I think J&K's story will take a backseat for a short while. Until people run out of things to say-- then its back to them (hopefully not with the same force though).
