I'm sorry but to me the whole Kate filing on Monday was all to get attention. Saying that she had no choice but to do it on Monday due to Jon's actions over the weekend was to play the victim and to get people on "her side". The fact that she was the first one to file to me speaks volumes. If she truly was so upset when Jon told her he had a lawyer and she should get one too I don't think she would have been the first to file for divorce. You would think if she was crying for half a day she would fight for her marriage not rush to beat him in filing. Also it been my experience that the person who files first is usually the one who asks for the divorce.
I agree with this post. But it got me thinking we should summarize what we KNOW to be true, at least partly for those who came late to the thread:
1. they're getting a divorce, Kate filed on Monday in a document that says they had been separated for 2 years.
2. Jon had been trying to get out of the TV contract (not sure about PA, but here the contract might have become null as the result of the separation, depending on how it's worded)
3. Jon was planning to get a real job again -- we don't know where -- but it apparently couldn't happen while he was doing the show
4. Kate did an interview with People magazine, Jon made statements (or his attorney did) to ET
5. they've agreed to trade off and on living with the kids ie. it's not her house, she's not raising the kids alone, he's not abandoning them (even if he does get an apt. in NY)
6. I, for one, totally believe that there was an issue about Jon getting the piercings (all of them) but he refused to continue saying "Yes, dear. Whatever you say, dear"
7. I'm pretty sure Jon was in big trouble for not playing nice for the cameras at times. His most often used word = "whatever"
Sorry, but I feel like a lot of the statements made by Kate have not been substantiated. Some of the statements the press has made have been wrong, so I find it hard to believe any of them that don't sound completely realistic.
Personally, I gave up on the show after the episode in WDW when Kate said the kids were "ruined" by dripping ice cream on their clothes. This particular thread, however, is addictive.
