madge-- thanks for the info on AVG. I kinda thought I would have to disable norton. I will check w/ DH to see if he wants to go that route. another thought I had was go to staples they have free pc checks - include viruses too. not sure which is easier.

Okay- so sorry everyone else is also finding this virus. I don't think I clicked on any of the popups--some how my blocker was unblocked.
I have norton 360 and it did not detect anything -- I have seen it detect in the past. I am praying that it is all okay. It is just weird that the "my computer' section popped up with words all in red stating worm. Maybe it was not mine but a way to get you to click on it I spoke w/ dh and he didn't seem to know either way if it was infected.

mistydoodles- is spyware doctor a free site? Do you know if I can run it w/ norton 360??

AAGH I hate to have anything happen to the computer. For those that are familiar w/ a virus-- will it react immediately??? How will I know if it did infect getting by norton some how??

I needed to do an ebay purchase today but not so sure now. I was suppose to be buying pins for our upcoming trip. Maybe I should hold off

Yes, Spyware doctor is a free download from google. My nephew works for google so it is something I trust.

You can find it at this link. http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/ Scroll down to the end where it says, Make your computer work better. Click on pack and there is a collection of software that you can download for free from google. Spyware doctor should be one of the available softwares.

I believe that you will have to turn off Norton while you use spyware doctor.

I really think your computer is probably free from a virus. It probably just put some sort of spyware or something like that on it. This software should take care of that for you.

Just a word of warning-- I clicked on the link that showed kate brushing the dog-- imediately I got a ton of popups -- mostly saying my computer was in need of fixing for a virus. It also opened the "my computer" screen and highlighted in red was the word 'worm' I knew from experience at work that when your computer is infected it keeps popping up screens etc. I immediately went to my norton security. It did not detect anything-- nothing. I was able to close down that internet screen. Now I am scared that I somehow screwed up my computer. I ran a virus scan an it did not detect anything.

I guess my days of clicking on links is over. I am soo praying that whatever came up is not attached to the computer. Please just a word of warning.

Any suggestions on seeing if the computer is affected would be greatly appreciated.

I usually lurk here but wanted to throw out my support for Kate. I still believe in her even though the money/fame has clouded her judgement.
I still think it has to be heart wrenching to see your husband on the news/tabloids with that girl in france and just being an idiot. Doesn't he realize that his kids will see all this when they figure out how to google.

Jon has proven himself to be a loser in my eyes. I can't believe that he is dating, I can't belive his choices Its like he wants to be 18 again...I just feel bad for Kate as a wife and a mom.

I also have to say that her leaving is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I don't think he deserves to be at the house....especially since he let the last girlfriend hang out there.

I have run Spyware Doctor, Ad aware, and Vipre, nothing comes up. If you didn't click on anything and closed out the browser you should be fine. If Norton and everyone elses anti virus didn't find anything I don't think it would be necessary to take your computer to Staples for a virus check.

Sorry about all the virus' people are getting.

My DH uses ZONE ALARM on all our computers! I believe it is FREE.

Are you kidding me? Are you saying it's not obvious which side you have taken? You think I"m the only one on this board taking sides? I used to be on Jon's side, until I watched the older shows, and saw what I missed. Yep, now I"m on Kate's side and until she proves me a fool, I'm there to stay.

Are you also saying I have not said on this thread that Kate was wrong about stuff? I have..however, I have the same right as you, to give my opinion, and I happen to have the opinion that this isn't all PR for Kate, but that she cares about her kids and of the two of them, is the one acting like it. I have no doubt that at some time she'll have her say..but I hope she's more careful than Jon has been, and remembers the kids can see the fronts of the mags.

AVG is free and very effective virus software.

you will probably have to disable the norton software after installing AVG, sometimes that causes a problem to have more than one program running at the same time.

AVG and Norton hate each other. If you want to put AVG on (and the newest free one really slows down your computer if you don't shut off all the extra's) you should totally remove Norton first.

that's good to know about Norton -- I knew there was likely an issue, but didn't have any first-hand experience. The first thing I do when I get a new computer is dump Norton or Macafee (is that what it's called?) and download AVG or avast! I also use firefox or safari, depending on which computer I've got at the time.

I'm not sticking up for either of them. Nobody begged them to become a reality tv show. They were nobody's who became somebody's when they appeared on television. They have no talent and if it wasn't for the 8 kids who's lives have been exploited, there would be no show. Everyone is entitled to their opinion--be it right or wrong!

And so, if he marries, then he can't bring any girlfriends over to the house either. (or co-eds or well, then we'll just have to worry about the young girls that Mady and Cara have over when they are 18 and 19yo.) Hopefully those girls will stay away from Jon.

Eew, eew, eewww! Those pics are truly trashy and Hailey is SO not someone I'd allow around my kids ever. So Jon likes the trashy, nasty, lesbian lover, pot smoking, drinking ladies. He is such a winner, it's amazing that some other young thing hasn't snatched him up yet. Want to bet that his relationship with Hailey (whose behavior I'm sure Kate knows about from her parents) is what forced her to file. There is no way I'd let that girl near my kids or home. I don't care if this is her 'past'. The things she did say alot about who she is. Plus she obviously has no qualms about hooking up with a married Dad of 8 whose wife had surgery done by her father. Augh, Kate even stayed in their house to recover! I love how Jon says that he and Hailey have been friends for years. Really? So she was what, 19 then when they were friends? What could they have in common? He is beyond ridiculous in my eyes and I'm annoyed that I ever gave him the benefit of the doubt. Kate is looking better and better in this mess and the beauty of it is that Jon is doing it all for her.

I am so disappointed in Jon. I couldn't believe it when I saw the magazine tonight at the store that said that he is now engaged. WTH is he thinking?
