so if your friends called and wanted to meet for lunch at Panera, you'd stop and give the paps a head's up? :confused3 and what about the rest of the people connected to your life, do you give them their schedules, too?

thankfully, I'll never have to worry about the what ifs ... the National Enquirer won't be following me around anytime soon. :rotfl:

I don't know that I'd stop what I was doing and call them but I don't know (again, pure speculation on my part because I've got no one beating down my door to do a tv show! :rotfl:) that I'd "sneak" around just to avoid them. No I wouldn't provide friend's schedules (but I'm sure some would probably do that on their own LOL). I currently work at a FD so I don't have the most exciting life anyways and really don't go out of the house much except to browse at Target and my weekly grocery shopping trips with my piles of coupons....I'd be happy to have them follow me through Kroger or take my picture of my cart of groceries while I was walking out and my mile long receipt that shows I saved half! :thumbsup2 Again, it's all in my head because I can't see me having to actually worry about this any time soon!

I guess to me that's the point of the security to keep the creeps back and out of your face while you're out and about. If not, take appropriate action with the authorities or whomever you need to.

Me either and that's ok by me! :upsidedow

As for Kate and the paps, this would be a GREAT chance IMHO for her to "speak out" about them and "demand" changes from higher ups either at the tabloids or congress or whomever. I think she would get a lot of support for something like that and I'm sure other celebrities are already working on things like that. Or, use it as her savy shopper angle (if she's looking for another show) and talk to the paps about how much she saved while shopping at Target or something like that....

She's right, it would not stop all the attention she is getting. Who knows when it will stop. The attention they are getting now has nothing to do with the show and everything to do with Jon's antics.

Haven't seen the interview but I agree with you. People will still want the "gossip" on the family and who's going to be there to provide that? Not the show but that paps.

I didn't catch the Regis & Kelly show this morning. Geez, sounds like it was a real hoot though! Why would you ask a woman who's husband has cheated on her and now has a GF if you think you'll get back together? Classy Regis, really sensitive. :sad2:

Anyhow, I had a thought concerning the paps and all the media attention. J&K+8 has been on for over 2 years now, right? Why all the sudden press and tabloids? Because scandal sells. It was found out that Jon was hanging with college chicks and the story just blossomed from there. So they were doing the show for over a year and 1/2 before all the paps became a problem. I guess my point (I promise I do have one!) is that just because they were on the show didn't mean the paps and tabloids were all over them. It all came on recently and was due to Jon and his indiscretions. So stopping the show wouldn't necessarily end the paps obsession. What would end it IMO is if J&K keep their mouths shut and stop doing interviews for magazines and TV shows. People would lose interest because then they'd be just another divorced couple with nothing exciting to report. I could be wrong, certainly wouldn't be the 1st time!

When did we learn that Jon cheated on Kate? We still dont know when the relationship ended or who ended it. How do you know that she did not end it last Oct and now he is dating. Don't get me wrong, he should not be doing it in public but we still don't know that he is cheating.

That just depends on how you define "cheat".....not to pick a fight (really!) but they're technically still married until the end of next month I think Jon said. They're just "sepereated" right now. To some people, it's ok to "move on". Personally, to me you're still married until you have a piece of paper that says you're not. Do I think their relationship is done? Yeah I think that's clear. I just don't think it's smart to be out dating until everything's official. I've known several wives who have used their life being "seperated" against the husband in things like custody agreements and such ("look what he does in his free time", "I don't want my kids around these things")

Exactly, thank you for putting my thoughts into words! :rotfl:

Stopping the show will not stop the circus that has become part of their lives. The media attention came with Jon just being Jon.

but if they stopped the show, at some point they'd fade off the radar. so much of what shows up the in the tabloids is when the family is out filming for the show. if you take that out of the equation, then all that's left is the daily shot of the helmet-free, flip flop wearing Gosselin children outside unsafely riding their bikes or scooters. that would get old fast, I think.

if Jon continues to act like a dork, then the paps can follow him.

 They're back together!! Regis predicted it!!!! ;)

I dunno but I'm glad she is home with them and I am happy to see Jon come take Leah to the doctor. That just makes me happy for the kids. :)

I am too! This thread moves to fast for me to keep up & run a business;)

Does anyone have a link to this?

So anyone on a reality show is entitled to freebies, vacations, etc.....?? The point is she wouldn't have a show if it wasn't for kids!!!

You have a habit of thinking I am talking about every show (ir every person, etc)on TV when I post something. Many (actually, most) of reality shows have vacations/trips, placements, freebees. That's generally how the producer gets money for the show. I include the Roloffs, Survivor, Amazing Race, the new sextuplet show, the other sextuplet show with the disabled child..those are the only other ones I've watched, but other's probably do as well. It's considered commercials.

Yes, there wouldn't be a show without the kids (and Kate & Jon, since I believe they may had something to do with the kids being here). Luckily, the kids are also getting to enjoy the extra's, not just Kate.

The scans are up for the articles this week: Seems that Kate has fired back at Jon.

I know many of you hate her but I really like Kate...as does my DH, DD22,14 & 12 . This article breaks my heart.

This is the scary thing about a divorce... you loose the right to shield your kids when they are with the other parent. So if you marry a goofball you better stay married for the kids. IMO Many of us have married goofballs to some degree...except for the perfect people on the DIS;)

I went through this when my kids were young with DH we separated for 6 weeks. What a nightmare. We had a happy ending but I would not wish it on anyone.

I too believe that until you have that piece of paper, you are not free to do whatever. While I think that Jon is a major jerk for being so public with his love life (because it is completely thoughtless to his children), I do think it makes a difference if Kate told him it was over last year. It would be much worse to think he was out bar hopping and cheating prior to her ever saying it was over. However, she states that he is the one that said it was over and that she should get an attorney. It is one of those things that we will never know for sure.

I think the laws should be changed to make it much more difficult for people to get married.

I really don't LOL. I do have to say, and it's something I've said through several threads now, I really don't understand how so many people can really intensely dislike (this is really the meaning of hate, but some people have an aversion to that word) someone they don't know, and really know very little about. I don't care for Jon's antic's, but I don't know him well emough to intensely dislike him. Now, if he was drinking, and put the kids in a car and caused an accident that was his fauly, I would hate him (oops, intensely dislike). I wish he was a more careful with what he does, so that the paps wouldn't have pictures that could be hurtful or confusing to the kids, but I'm sure when people are getting divorced, even here on the Dis, the kids get to hear and see stuff that isn't nice. I know when my neighbors were divorcing, it wasn't pretty, and sometimes the kids got sent to my house, to wait out a really bad argument, while the new girlfriend waited in the car on pick-up day (or exchange day as they called it) or the police came.

If I saw proof that this show was harmful to the kids (not just, oh, they will hate it when their friends say stuff, or getting freebee's doesn't make it all right, etc), then I would not like Kate or Jon (OK, so they did show some stuff I wouldn't have shown, but we all watched it, didn't we). But I'm just not seeing that they are terrible people doing terrible stuff to their kids.

I see them like Brook Shield's mother. Yes at times they have had bad judgement but are good parents. Brook seems to have turned out to be a good citizen & she seems to love her mother.

In the people article, Kate said:

"It only really upsets me when the people he's choosing to bring to the house and let, ahem, stay overnight - she says the words through clenched teeth - affect our kids. That's not the sort of example that I will ever set for them, and that's where it really kills me. "

There is no way I would let him have anyone stay overnight, I would have it put into the divorce that NO overnight visitors were allowed on either side in that home, at least for now. That is just crazy. Those kids have enough adjustment issues going on, they don't need Daddy bringing home the flavor of the week too!

from the July 4th episode a few seasons back?

one thing on Regis. Kate wouldn't answer how long (in years) they'd been on TV. She would only say 5 seasons.

I think she may be the one who ironed for them. I can't be sure, we've stopped watching the reruns.

That's weird. So they've had 5 seasons is 3 years? That's a lot. Maybe that is why she didn't want to say it.
