I was on You Tube this morning and ran across the "Sight and Sound" episode from early season 4.

The last part is so sweet--Jon and Kate seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves and the kids. They talk about appreciating all the blessings they have been given. I just wish someone would tie them to the interview couch and make them watch old episodes to remind them of what they are throwing away! It is just so sad.

You know that reminds me. In the early episodes you see the kids watching the episodes on DVD.

I'm sure now that the kids are older they dont' watch like that anymore but what about when they are adults or teenagers. Can you imagine watching this seasons opener if it was your parents??? What about this big annoucement? Let's assume it's about a divorce....those kids will see their parents announcement of a divorce on TV. Of course no one knows if it will be that but WOW.

I wouldn't want to watch my parents on TV discussing their marriage.

ETA: Sorry, but I cannot follow 2 threads. I didn't think this one (and the previous 3) were that bad - just different opinions. Now someone on the other thread has referred to "weeding through all the garbage" on this thread. I had no idea thats what it looked like to others, but I will try to step away from the thread.... slowly!

Another thought in my head was, is this the real Kate (and maybe not) but not what TLC wanted to show, but now, to keep the show going, they decided to show this side of her? And if so, what was the advantage of showing the other Kate all this time? Or does the other Kate get more viewers, because it gives them something to talk about. Really, what would we (general) talk about, if the gentle Kate showed on this show, was the real Kate?
Did that even make sense LOL?

I think it made sense to me! I was wondering why she was so much more relaxed (is that the right word?) with him and why she's so hard on Jon? Just trying to give him a chance, make a good impression, I'm not really sure honestly.

ETA: I just had a thought. Jon was home alone while they were in NC. I'm guessing they filmed the remodel for the show. I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed Jon "moving out" then, as well.

Do you think we would have heard about that by now? Seems someone would have gotten pictures and they'd be all over the internet by now if he was moving out...

I'm OK with a little discussion. That said, this thread can occasionally be all sunshine, too. Mickey bars for everyone, my treat!!!! :

I'm sure (hoping at least) that the comment was directed at me specifically - it was just bad timing on my part I think (reading the comment after all the stuff I'd posted this morning). It didn't help that I was having a rough morning and maybe took it more personally than it was intended....the internet can do crazy things to a discussion!

One man's garbage (just using the word that was used LOL) is another man's treasure. A great reason for two different types of threads IMO.

I think (again IMO) by garbage, it's meant the personal discussions about Kate, her hair, her body, her scars, how she speaks, all that stuff. Some people are more interested in just discussing the actual show and what might be happening, than trying to figure out what Kate or Jon means everytime they look up at a camera, or get a tan.

There was actually two versions of the season opener. One with and one without the extra talking. Maybe the one they kept for the kids, was the one without?

I found it interesting the Jon says that he's changed but now he knows he's the person he is suppose to be. Does this mean he is done being Kate's door mate???

I think that tells a lot.
Sounds like they join the other 60% of us (general us, not 'us', since I am still happily married for over 40 years). I still don't think this show is the reason, but I think this show and the perks may have kept them together longer than they would have been if they didn't have the show. I don't think (just my opinion) that Jon could have supported this family, and I think that would have broken them up much sooner. Do I think they should have thought about this back when they only had two kids? Of course, but I don't think the end result would have been different for their marriage.

I was thinking the same thing earlier in the week when they were re-playing some of the old episodes in happier times. I bet those kids will not be able to watch this season. It would be hard to see it, even when they grow up. It would bring back a lot of bad memories for them. Poor things.

I found it interesting the Jon says that he's changed but now he knows he's the person he is suppose to be. Does this mean he is done being Kate's door mate???

Or does it mean he's willing to step up to the plate and grow up? Or does it mean he gets a chance to go back to being a kid and playing? It's not like he hasn't benefitted greatly from all the perks. He's like many other about to be or already divorced man. He can be himself now..and not have to have the responsibility of the family.

He's gotten a lot of his own stabs in, to Kate, and if they counted on just his employment record and never had any shows, I'm not sure where they would be right now.

I happen to think it's good for the kids that this is finally coming out in the open, and they can get ready to move on and not pretend.

Where are the crooked houses? Are they in the front and easily seen? If so, maybe that was required in return for the free houses. Just speculating...I know I should be all sympathic to all their issues that they have been dealing with for a long time...but I think kate is more torn up at the aspect that then end of the money train may be in sight. Due to both of their mistakes, of course. (but mostly Jon in her mind LOL)
