Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 4

Maybe the announcement is that Kate will get her own show. The kids and Jon won't be involved. She might be getting a talk show or something else. The cameras would be out of the house. They could have a somewhat normal home life and Kate still could be on tv (in a studio).

That is a long way away IMO. She is a horrible public speaker.

Or does it mean he's willing to step up to the plate and grow up? Or does it mean he gets a chance to go back to being a kid and playing? It's not like he hasn't benefitted greatly from all the perks. He's like many other about to be or already divorced man. He can be himself now..and not have to have the responsibility of the family.

He's gotten a lot of his own stabs in, to Kate, and if they counted on just his employment record and never had any shows, I'm not sure where they would be right now.

I happen to think it's good for the kids that this is finally coming out in the open, and they can get ready to move on and not pretend.

Why is Kate not expected to work to support her family if necessary (without a show)? She had the higher income earning potential as a nurse.

Do you think Jon will willingly disappear from all of their lives when he is 'free'?

Okay nobody mentioned Jon's earrings. When did this happen? Okay let's recap: nightclubs, new 2-seater car, motorcyle, smoking. Sounds more like a single man every day.:rolleyes1

Where are the crooked houses? Are they in the front and easily seen? If so, maybe that was required in return for the free houses. Just speculating...I know I should be all sympathic to all their issues that they have been dealing with for a long time...but I think kate is more torn up at the aspect that then end of the money train may be in sight. Due to both of their mistakes, of course. (but mostly Jon in her mind LOL)

I don't post often, but I have to disagree with this. For two reasons. First, I don't believe the money train is over. Kate has established herself firmly into American culture. She will always be able to make money from this history. There will be many, many opportunities available to her, even if Jon & the kids aren't filmed anymore. Love her or hate her (I like to compare her to Martha Stewart and Paris Hilton) she is an interesting person and we Americans cannot help but be fascinated.

Secondly, she was in love and she is a mom. Just a few years ago that was her reality. No matter if it is your own choices that got you here, or if you blame someone else for the dissolving of that, it has to hurt. Perhaps she's not at all torn up about losing Jon, perhaps she isn't in love with him anymore (though I think she is) but even with that, it has to sting very, very badly to lose the ideal that you had set up for yourself.

I understand that they brought most of this upon themselves. But I simply cannot share in the lack of empathy for her I see in so many posts. I think it is all terribly sad and not just because of the kids. But because the idealistic world that they had built & were trying desperately to hold onto has been smashed to smithereens in the last 6 months. And now in addition to all the emotions that the normal couple goes through in a divorce, they have to face the wrath of all of America. And watch their kids suffer not only at their own hands but also at all of our hands. Yes, they put them in our hands, but they could not possibly have understood the reprucussions. And how can you go backwards? As Kate says in the preview they have to go forwards. You can have regrets, but you can't change it.

Sorry for all the haters, but as for me I think that is a situation that deserves my empathy no matter what part the players had in it.

what is Kate going to do, for the long term, to keep herself out there and make money from this history? What kind of opportunities?

I agree with this - I really think it is so sad! I did notice John's earrings, what is up with that. It seems like a mid life crisis to me.

I think the crooked houses are more in the side yard. I would also want them there, so if the kids play on the bikes and run over to the houses. I wouldn't want them in the woods at all.

I agree that the money train is long from over with Kate. She has tons of opportunities to write books about being a single mother, about a single mother looking for love. She can keep up her speaking gigs at churches as a single Christian mother. She can write a ton of more cookbooks, craft books. There has been a lot of talk on blogs about her hosting her own talk show. I think it will be a long, long time until the public is done seeing Kate.

He could have had his ears pierced before. It is possible someone didn't like them.

I'm not a Kate hater at all but it is possible.

:confused3

You can not announce your divorce on TV if that is in fact the annoucement. They can stop filming. They must know by now what price filming their family's everyday lives has, for them and their kids. Will they continue? You can't change the past, but what about the future? I guess we'll see what they have chosen for themselves and the kids.

Will churches still have her? Why is she considered a Christian role model?

I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here, of course.

Celebrity Apprentice.

Organic cooking show on Food Network where she hosts other chefs showing how to use organics to feed your family.

An expose on the "real story" behind the show.

A producer of reality shows.

Starting a business with kid friendly organizing ideas on HSN.

I'm just saying. The money train is still moving forward. I know that it might have been scary for her when the original story broke & Jon said, "I don't want to do it any more," she perhaps was pondering going bankrupt when TLC sued them for breaking their contract. But obviously Jon saw the light on that one (since he, too, wants the sports cars & Trump Tower apartment) and once they decided they didn't hate each other enough to break that contract and get sued, then the money train is still in full force.

Or she can write a book on her marriage downfall?

Will churches still have her? Why is she considered a Christian role model?

I think it will depend on her status as a "single mother" -- if it is proven that she had or is having an affair, then no, they won't save her. But if she comes across as a victim of the infidelity of her husband, I think the speaking checks will come rolling in as she is booked into more and more churches. It's hard to be a single mother (from experience) and doing it with eight will be speaking worthy to many.

I think she was considered a Christian role model because she and Jon refused to "eliminate" (wrong word) any of the sextuplets when they discovered they had seven in there.

Personally, I don't find her a role model in any way shape or form and believe that if she was fully loving her children, she would stop the exploitation.

And after the pictures of Jon with the "possible" joint in his mouth, I don't know that either of them should be raising those kids. My personal opinion only.

I'm sure (hoping at least) that the comment was directed at me specifically - it was just bad timing on my part I think (reading the comment after all the stuff I'd posted this morning). It didn't help that I was having a rough morning and maybe took it more personally than it was intended....the internet can do crazy things to a discussion!:upsidedow

Of course not, no, never!

It was something I read on the other thread and took to heart myself. I hadn't even read back on this thread when I posted here. Hard to keep up when posts are flying. I like this thread, but cannot keep up with 2 - it is too much J&K for me. I always like coming here for news and links, and posting links, too. We can't stop now, we gotta see what is gonna happen. ;) :)

Any hoo, good thing the show is on Monday...... because I'm going to Disney World next Thursday!! :yay:

P.S. Very cute kid pics!

There was an interesting expose on E! TV last night. It's called Jon and Kate: Separate Lives. Of course it was entertainment television, so of course you can't completely take everything for fact. But they raised some interesting points.
