We stop working with the kids (I work with the at-risk kids in our public school system) a couple weeks before school's out so they can finish out the year with everyone else, so I got out for summer on May 8. However, I start summer programs tomorrow until August 7. Then I host summer camp for kids who don't have anywhere to be during the remaining two weeks of summer at our house. Then back to school/work.
Have to say you're amazing!!

I worked for awhile with children of "at risk" high school aged parents and sometimes I think the parents were worse than the kids! Of course, those kids taught me a lot. Never until that class had I had a child spit in my face or run out the emergency exit into a parking lot full of cars

Certainly taught me a thing or two. I can't imagine your patience and the size of your heart.

Is
Life and Style Weekly a tabloid? Do they pay for stories? I've never heard of it.
I think I've posted scans from that magazine before (on the last thread). Mabye they're local that they cover J&K so much??? I'd never heard of the magazine before.
I think her next book is supposed to be a recipe book. Of course, according to Kevin and Jodi, she doesn't really cook or bake, so that one will be interesting LOL
Didn't he say she wasn't a good cook, not that she didn't cook? I honestly can't recall.
It is supposed to be, but Kate has said she doesn't really follow a recipe when cooking.
Didn't she say that in the episode where the stove broke when she was making soup? I recall her saying it for sure.
I know a lot of people who go to spas all the time I don't see the big deal
I don't think going to the spa is a big deal. I personally don't go because I've got so many other things I could do with that time/money. It's a personal choice. If that's how you connect with your child/ren, by all means, I'd make time for it. Unfortunetly, I can't see my two boys at the spa with me!
Organic means grown free of chemical insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers and fungicides. Wouldn't have an effect on an allergy I don't think. Yes, there are always kids around me with food allergies now. Thankfully none of my own.
My DS4 is allergic to 17 things including cockroaches, shellfish, peanuts, eggs, soy, mold, dust, grass, weeds, trees, horses, dogs among other things. His "best buddy" knows he can't come over to play because Corbin will "get dead" because he's got dogs at his house. Thankfully, his parents know about the "getting dead" (that's how the boys refer to it and now we adults say it as well) and are careful about what their son eats/does before he comes out to play with my DS4. Not everyone cares that much. I would like to think Kate or someone checked to make sure all the kids could have the cake. The teacher was invited and you would think she would mention something when she was invited or called to RSVP (assuming they RSVP'd).
I can hear them now..."It's just what family does."
Oh to have a family like that. I'm so glad to hear you appreciate them. So many have wonderful families and are just ungrateful for them.
When Kate started the books, they prob had no idea what the touring would be like.
You know this how? There is no way that a lot of money may be funneled into the kids accounts, right? Used to pay two mortgages, and food and taxes? Heat bill? Tithing to their church?
Kate mentioned on Monday that they didn't do the tour for the first book, that they kind of smushed them together so maybe they didn't really have a good idea of what it was all about since the first one came out and it's wasn't a lot of "work" in the sense that she didn't have to do the traveling and such.
I'm sure money's going in a lot of directions. Imagine paying for health care alone for the family for a month. Let alone two mortgages, utilities, cable, internet, cell phones, gas, car payments, insurance, nanny/babysitter, dogs/vet bills, ect. I'm sure there are many other things in addition to that specific to their family like the security and such. We have no idea how much is coming in and going out each month. It's all speculation. And we don't know out of how much they're getting paid is actually "theirs" - meaning what's left over after putting money into savings accounts, college accounts, paying bills, paying TLC or other staff, ect. Maybe there's really nothing left. How are we to know?
Heck, I'm the age now they were when they started, and I am on a constant self-finding mission. I do my best for DS and DNiece, but I still need to work on me.
Well you certainly sound like you've got a lot of it worked out - I wish I was that "together".
