Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

At the risk of sounding overly harsh, I really wish I was a tv writer with connections. I would already be putting together my script for the tv movie on this and pitching it to Lifetime. Mark my words, we'll be seeing all this drama re-enacted and put together for a tv movie. It's just such a perfect story for drama. The sextuplets, the early years of struggles, the rise from unknowns to celebrity couple, followed by the affairs and breakdown of the marriage. Some actress will have such a job to play the complexities of Kate, not to mention having to wear the odd hairstyle.

Harshness aside, I love those adorable kids and am so sad to see the demise of a family I kind of felt I knew. Even if they try to protect the kids and manage to make this okay for them at this stage, they're going to get older and eventually learn how to google themselves. There's just no way to prevent that.

I have to admit, I was actually thinking of this earlier, how it would make a good Lifetime movie and I was trying to figure out who would play Jon and Kate.

The new season is supposed to start next week right? Is TLC filming the family now for the upcoming season? If so the stress levels must be unbelievable.

the first episode for season 5 is scheduled to air on Monday, May 25.

The Gosselins have been filming this season for months, even before season 4 ended... at least 4 episodes that I'm aware of: Kate's birthday, the sextuplets birthday, Emeril (the 100th episode) and a trip to Florida that was filmed in March.

Honestly I thought it was a joke anyway. They were celebrating "9" years not a milestone like 10 so it always felt to me like it was just a free vacation with the renewal thrown in to make good tv and to hit the crossover for the dress shoping.

YES! I never got that. Geez, 9 years is nothing! What is there to renew? Ifthe first vows weren't still good after 9, theres a problem. I thought at the time she was jealous of the bachelorette couple that got married, and had that big splashing pink wedding. (what are their names? he is the firefighter, and she is an attention lover like Kate) I thought she just wanted to have her dream wedding too and didn't care about the little detail that she was already married.

I keep saying this , but I just watched the clip of her on Rachel Ray, and THE HAIR!!!!!!!!!!! It is just so weird!!!!! What is it? Flock of Seagulls? alien head? It is beyond white trash, it is just bizrre! It is really a metaphor of Kate herself - for her personality. Extreme. She is extreme in every way, and her hair is representative of that.

I think they came forward so people would know once and for all and that it would put a stop to the show. I'm not surprised Jon went to Kevin, they seemed to be pretty good friends before and I'm sure he thought Kevin would be able to help or offer good advice.

I'm sure he didn't expect, if he trusted him and were good friends, that they would then be paid to tell all that Jon said to him the Star..who often run story's that do not always have the truth. Doesn't seem to be a good friend to me.
I am looking forward to when the dust settles to see just what really is going on. I think Jon will soon be losing his meal tickets, if in fact this is true. I can't imagine it will be Jon plus 8 + one 23 year old, but I can see it being about Kate and the single mom.

We do not need to have a fancy ceremony to feel the others love or to make a spectacle of ourselves to our friends who have gotten divorced, that we are somehow better, we are not. I agree. But I do wonder if the reason Kevin & Jodi told their story is purely for the kids, to help them and put a stop to the show. Once people read all this, the show will never be the same and most likely (and rightly so) will be canceled. We don't know if Kevin & Jodi were paid for their story either. I can definitely see Kate trying to spin it her way though and pitch the idea of her as a single mom of 8. But I don't know how many people will watch that, I certainly wouldn't. I'd have to agree that Jon's meal ticket days are over too! Now he'll have to actually work for a living!

Kate is certainly disturbed (to put it mildly!) but Jon is just as much to blame. He is ALSO one of the PARENTS and could've put a stop to all of this. The fact that he didn't is very telling and disturbing as well. When he discovered this thing with Kate, he should've stepped forward and canceled the show or at the very least, have refused to let Kate have the kids on. I imagine they both have to agree to continue with each season so he had 50% of that decision. I just can't fathom putting myself, DH and 3 girls on TV for all the world to see and then continually exploit them by a scandal like this. I keep thinking about the kids and how they are. I can't imagine how J&K are going to explain all of this to them.

As far as the vow renewal goes, that was just terrible. They told those kids that Mommy and Daddy will always be together and the cake had bible verses all over it!! Crazy, the cake was supposed to represent J&K on the top, Cara & Mady in the middle and the sextuplets on the bottom. Here's a link from TLC with a picture of the cake and what it represented.

I am 100% sure they were not only paid, but took it to the highest bidder. Otherwise, why the Star..why not a decent rag magazine? I'm not sure I beleive Jon's story about Kate, or if he was finding an excuse for himself..if even that is true.
I have to admit..I would still watch it if it was just Kate on it. I personally don't see what some of you have. I see her as a great mom, and someone able to manage her household. OK, she lost it at Disney..I've seen much worse. I've seen kids smacked around and shouted at, and called names. Yup, at Disney. I do believe she thought Jon was the stay at home parent while she traveled, and it's not like he had it to all to do by himself. I"m sure he wasn't overworked, and he is reaping the benefits of her going around the country.
I also see her giving lots of love and hugs and caring to her children, as best she can with so many.
I don't agree that this is the same as years gone by when children were underpaid, and very much exploited. The kids seem happy (well, except Mady, but I there is one of those in most families). This is not a 24 hour thing and the kids have also had many benefits. I don't know if the show will be responsible for the splitting of their parents, or if it would have happened anyway. Jon has always seemed very young to me for all this responsibility of so many kids. I wonder if they would have split sooner, if he had had to provide for them and kept a job. But hey, the divorce rate is 60% for our country..why would a reality show be any different..stands to reason some of them will split as well. I personally can't see why Amy Roloff stays with her childish husband.
As for the books the kids might write when they are older..there are some right here on the Dis, that I have wondered what their kids will be writing about when they get older. Maybe the kids will surprise us, and tell all about the wonderful things they might not have otherwise been able to do. Every once in a while there is a thread here, where people talk about not talking to relatives. I'm always shocked at how many have issues with their kids, and seldom see them. I can't imagine..so again, why would it be different for celebrities.

In regard to the vow renewal, I will agree with others who have said that she just wanted her "dream" wedding and a free trip to Hawaii. It was a little bit silly to me, but you know what, it did exactly what it was meant to do - brought in the viewers for TLC!

You know what I thought? This was supposed to be a wedding for them to have Jon's family come to and watch the vows, but it really honestly looked like none of them had a clue who Jon was. If I can remember correctly, no one there seemed to have a lot to say to Jon because I doubt they knew him! They were probably extras that TLC hired to have someone watch the spectacle.

And where was any of their other family?

Strange, very strange. If I believe nothing else, I do believe that they have succeeded in alienating ALL of their family and friends. And I believe they themselves did that, not the tabloids, as Kate proclaims.

My brother and SIL were talking about renewing their vows last year (similar in that they wanted a beachy type renewal) This is what sil always *dreamed of*
Well they were talking about it around the Holidays last year, giving us all a year to make our plans (they are married 10 years this year)
Well all of a sudden last Christmas night my SIL flips out and thinks my brother is cheating on her. They got right into counciling and it turned out SIL was expressing the fears she had over their relationship (face it we all change after years of being married) he never cheated on her.
Fast forward to this year, we have not heard anything at all about this vow renewal anymore. SIL and Kate have very simialr personalities, in fact sil LOVES Kate on the show....
Anyway, that is my thoughts on the vow renewal.

This is just another case of greed ruining a marriage. I'm sure at first this sounded like a wonderful idea..."let them tape us for a special and earn a few extra bucks for our family" Then the show got picked up and from there it was down hill. As you watch the seasons you can see their marriage fall apart it was only time until one or both of them cheated. Kate turned into a money hungry monster who started to see her children as cash cows. Jon lost his manhood. The children are growing up thinking having a video camera with producers and craft service as normal. Jon CLEARLY stated at the end of last season that he did not want to continue with the show but Kate wasn't hearing that. She is now busy running around the country promoting HER book. She should be home trying to fix her marriage. Remeber the vacation they took for Jons 30th birthday to "be alone"? Dang they still had cameras! I would of been like "sorry we really just need this time for ourselves". Kate loves the cameras and all the attention. If Jon is cheating on her, I truely beleive Kate doesn't care all that much because it's bringing more spotlight to her. OH poor Kate left home with 8 children while Jon is out with a 23 year old. Please the nanny was with the children while she was in NY promting her book while "with" her bodygaurd(if the rumors are true). Many marriages fall apart, children are involved, I just fell bad that those children have to see their parents faces on magazine covers airing their dirty laundry. Maybe Jon and Kate, if they cared even a little, would think of their children first for once and not their bank account or how many magazine covers or tv shows they can get on.

I don't think anyone has said poor Kate was at home while Jon was out. However, John was supposed to be home, while Kate was out with her book, that he has also reaped the benefits of (the moola!). The jury is out, on if Kate was doing anything other than book signing and speeches. I have no doubt Jon would love to see the attention of of what he was doing, off of him, and onto Kate, since most people have a much bigger problem with the wife straying than the husband.

This is why Kate went on the defensive so much this week she knew that when Aunt Jodie would speak people would listen. It is so sad for those kids. I have friends in their 40's who are still dealing with the mess cheating parents caused themmentally. They have tried to marry a person like the mom or dad and fix them like they could not as kids. This is really serious and terrible stuff. I am mad that Kate is trying to put the whole thing, IMOP, on Jon. You get married, I have been for 20 years, to be married to work at it The good the bad the ugly. You communicate. We were 6 kids in my family my mother LOVED my father and it destroyed her when he died 8 years ago. We did not have money or trips to Disney we had love. Forgot to add my mom has her 6 kids 12 grandkids to love her and appreciate that she was a SAHM and put us first always. She went w/o so we could all have braces and go to college. She is scheduled to be in Metro Detroit tomorrow. I would go and report back to ya'll, but I don't have $150 to buy a ticket, that's grocery money for us.

I think that is exactly what Jon is doing.

I don't believe there was ever such contract either. It totally flies in the face of Kate's controlling personality. I think Kate may have found out about what's her name before it became tabloid fodder. Perhaps she has promoted the heck out of these books because she knows the show is about over and really doesn't want to be around her husband.

Personally, I think it would be best for the kids if she stopped the book tours and traveling. But I don't know the entire situation.

Man oh man, can't even take one week off. Here are photos of Kate and her bodyguard "Mr. Grey" (I love that nickname, sorry!) today in Baltimore. I guess she really will be in Detroit this week.

I guess these were taken yesterday...so how much time did she spend with her kids? We know she was running all over town on Sunday and Monday, flying yesterday. So sad.
