Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

I just read an article written by someone who was on MTV's The Real World (Rachel Campos) and she married someone who was also on the show. They've moved to a small town and were recently approached to do another reality show. They declined.

I'll try to find the article.

She married Sean Duffy, who was on a different season of the Real World. They live in Ashland County, WI. Sean is the District Attorney there.

I remember that episode. But it seems like the episode where I heard that was a more recent show. She had gone shopping for herself and kids spring clothes and I remember rolling my eyes b/c I was like "great, more free stuff for Kate".

Jon was talking about how great Kate looked in her clothes and it seems that I recall her saying that she enjoyed shopping so much more now than before. (probably b/c everything is free???)

I was half paying attention, really, but I perked up when I heard the bit about What Not To Wear. Perhaps I heard wrong and they said JON???

Anyone else see this one and maybe help clear up my foggy memory????

Just a regular Mom leading a regular life with cameras there to capture it all. I know on my birthday a shuttle bus showed up at my house to take us to Charm City Cakes so Duff could make my birthday cake...

Oh wait, no, I baked my own cake.

I really hope the promo is misleading and the cakes are for the kids, not Kate. I think I will have lost some respect for CCC if that is the case.

I thought it was suggested that they do an episode on Kate's fashion and how it has changed in 2 years. Now that would be a boring episode. Let's watch Kate go from a regular Mom to one that wears high heels to pick up a dog at a breeders house.

I wonder if TLC even knows. With everything that is happening I bet they are scrambling like that article suggests and just want to get some promos out there before the season starts.

Kate has been trying to sell herself for awhile now as far as other "fame" opportunties go. She "suggested" an idea of TLC putting her on with Stacy and Clinton's What Not To Wear as a consultant. She's trying to get her own talk show. So, Kate's days of fame and fortune are not over for her. She doesn't want them to be.

Kate, a consultant? I thought that Jon was the one with an eye for fashion. Does anyone else remember the show where Jon took Kate shopping because she didn't like to shop for herself and she said that Jon is much better at it then she is?

A consultant? I can see Stacey and Clinton eating her alive! Are we talking about the same woman who claims to not use a cookbook, yet she's coming out with one? It just doesn't add up for me. :

Nope, you're not crazy. I remember that too...Jon was saying that Kate "wears clothes well" and Kate laughed/ridiculed him for his compliment of course., isn't she sweet? Then she got all excited and said that Stacy and Clinton should do a segment on her for What Not To Wear showcasing how her style had changed over the last few years. I just rolled my eyes when she said that. I'm sure she imagined herself getting that special Visa card with $5000 to go shopping with when people are on What Not To Wear!

No kidding! I've been dropping very blunt hints to my DH that I would LOVE a cake from Charm City Cakes!! It's expensive, very expensive and has to be done many, many months in advance, he looked into it for me. Too bad because I absolutely love Ace of Cakes and all of the staff! I agree, that cake should be for the kids, Lord knows they've worked hard for it! Seriously, that would be really cute if they did get one from Duff. Wondering now if they actually had to pay for it....

That WOULD be a boring episode! Kate is just kind of boring now, period.

I watched the beach episode on TLC last night and this was before super-skinny, half baked Kate came out to play. I have to say, she looked much better then than she does now.

I agree!

It could be misleading because in the promo the cake that they highlighted was a small round cake. Maybe each child is making their own cake. It doesn't make any sense to present Kate with 6-8 different b-day cakes.

Thanks for that! You have a much better memory than I do. I just remember that episode and doing A LOT of eye rolling and grunting. I don't know why I don't change the channel. I just can't seem to stop.

Isn't that the problem, focus on Kate. Maybe Duff will plant something in her cake to make it blow up all over Kate. I wonder what kind of cake he would make for her birthday, maybe a . .. . .

I've, um, seen, um, Kate in, um, person .... she has terrible stage presence and can't, um, put two, um, thoughts together, um, without a lot, of um, ums ... she rarely smiles, either.

The show's stories are planned in advance and IMO it's a bit questionable that going to Charm City Cakes was a 'surprise' to Kate. Or I'll take back my words when I see the show.

The last couple of seasons have been about traveling from one resort or amusement park or show to the next. It sounds like this season is going go be filled with appearances with other show's stars (Emeril, Duff, and I wouldn't be surprised if Clinton and Stacy didn't appear, too) and of course the surprise trip they keep teasing us with.

They're obviously working hard to produce new shows - when they have the time to do it all, I don't know; and what's going on behind the fence at the Gosselin's that we need to know that might effect the storyline that they have to work it into the show? If it's just to address the subject then why not just do that during a couch interview?

Two weeks after stories linked her husband, Jon Gosselin, with a 23-year-old school teacher, Kate says she is now the target of tabloid lies. "The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family," Kate tells PEOPLE exclusively. "Already the allegations they're making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified."

"These are people who absolutely love us and want to see us through to the end," Kate says of Neild and his family. "Of course, both of them travel with us at times, and we've spent holidays together, because, in this situation, your circle grows smaller and smaller, and it's very natural to become friends with your manager, your publicist, your security team ... they're the only people you have left. And now they're coming under fire."

With few close companions, and her marriage to Jon hitting a rough patch, Kate says she is terrified that this latest round of stories will drive away the friends she and her family have left. "I'm totally panicking, and thinking, 'We are going to lose our last set of friends.' I keep calling them, begging, 'Seriously, I'm so sorry. Don't run away from us.' They keep saying, ‘We're fine, we're fine.' But they have paparazzi in front of their house. It's so upsetting."

Most troubling to her is the realization "we opened our world to this," she says, adding, "but we willingly made a conscious decision to put this out there. Our friends and family did not. I had no idea we would potentially take down the people that we love around us."

She adds: "It's like saying, 'Thanks for your support, let me sic the paparazzi on you.' It's very very difficult. It leaves us, essentially, alone and friendless. It's terrible.

Ultimately, Kate says she does not know what she can do to stop the insanity. "The scary thing for me is [the tabloids] are going to take information and create a story. It's a matter of, 'When will they stop?' They're going to keep going, and they'll make up stuff to connect the dots."

Kate clears the air about the other tabloid reports – including her feelings about her husband's bar-hopping and her plans for her family's future – in the upcoming issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.

I find it very sad that the only people that are friends of theirs now are people that they pay. They have alienated themselves so much that that is the only way they can have "friends."

Also, she doesn't know how to stop it? She can't be serious, right? I mean there is an obvious way to stop it. My question is why haven't the Paps gone after the Duggars or the Roloffs or the Table for 12 people?
