Well those are crazy pictures. The cake is tiny, the sign on the door says "spay tanning" and she has a body guard and driver? Full fledged celebs are seen eating, shopping, etc. with their friends and family with no entourage. She looks so happy, huh? The side of their house...oh wow. What did they do for the tups 5th? It seems like they'd do something after last year!? What is Jon doing? Who are his guys? Is he sitting in a field with his hood up? How many people are on their staff? So many questions, so little time left!

according to the schedule on TLC, the season 5 opener is a birthday party for the sextuplets. I guess they must have filmed some sort of party at some point -- it doesn't seem like it was yesterday, though?

and I thought the window with the spray tan signage was weird. :upsidedow

If I were her I'd have a body guard too. Especially after reading some of the blogs and sites. Some comments are out of hand there are some real crazies out there. They don't even have privacy at home, people stake themselves out there. It's really sad.

It is sad, but it couldn't have come as a total shock. They put themselves out there and now with the Jon thing going on it is bringing even more attention. I'm sorry, I just have a hard time working up alot of sympathy for people who want to be famous, but then complain about the attention. I have sypmpathy for the kids, but not for Jon and Kate. Yes, some people go way too far, but for the most part most of what is happening goes with celebrity and anyone who is suprised by it is a fool. Sorry, but you can't be a celebrity just when you feel like it.

Wow! That is just nuts. I guess the answer to how she got so tan is spray tanning. :)

As for the security, I think that is a bit much. It isn't like they are Britney Spears. If they have the kids with them, then I can see it, but trips the grocery store and spray tanning require a body guard and driver? Wow, they have so much money they can just throw it away now.

They could've filmed a "fake" party. I remember a Shirley Temple documentary where she had a "for tv party" and a "real" party. The situation for the G family is still so sad.

If any of you have a Facebook account, You can follow the G family there too http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jon-and-Kate-Plus-8/33660480677.

I can't make out the sign...what does it say?? We all know nobody is THAT shade of orangey/brown naturally! Did you all ever see that episode of Friends where Ross goes to the spray tan place? He looked like a giant carrot!:lmao:

Totally agree!:thumbsup2 But remember, Kate says she's not a celebrity, she doesn't like that word.;)

I know! When I saw those pictures, I thought man, she LOOKS like a full-fledged celebrity now, complete with body guard. What concerns me if if the paparazzi will be all over the kids too. That wouldn't be good.:sad2:

I saw a commercial last week for the supposed season opener on May 25 with Emeril in the kitchen with Kate. I haven't checked the TLC site.......when does it show he'll be on?

There were reports of party type tents at the Gosselin's a few weekends ago and there was speculation the tup's B'day party was being held then. Who knows.

I've been lurking on some of the blogs,
and it has gotten to the point that people can
report almost to the hour, where Jon and Kate are.
I would definately have a body guard too, but how
sad, that you can't even go to Target to get toilet paper
and it is posted in a blog within the hour.

But Kate said, "there is no going back."

I disagree, if she would stop the show, within 6 months
they would be yesterdays news.

it says Monday, May 25 at 9:00pm, Jon & Kate Plus 8
Sextuplets Turn Five!
TV-G

and it isn't uncommon to have a bigger party not on your actual birthday. I didn't want it to sound like I was harping on that, because I'm not. We do the same thing. LOLOL.

one of the blogs lists at least one name listed in the trust that bought the house. that's creepy.

I watched the 700 Club interview. Other than the very beginning of the segment (filmed today), there was no mention of the tabloid stuff. the interview was all Kate. In fact, much of it was the stuff she talks about in the Multiple Blessings speech. I'm not sure I heard Jon's name mentioned at all. I think we may be seeing the beginning of the Kate and 8 on her own tour. Because, if Jon and Kate are together/working it out .. I think we would have seen some staged family pics from yesterday. Not just Kate running around town. Now I know, the story is that one works, one stays home and she's running errands and he's home ... but it's Sunday/Mother's Day/kids' birthday and it's the first day she's been home in a while, and she's not with the children? she's running errands?

I totally agree with what you're saying. It's not too late for them to stop. Whatever their reasons are for continuing on is their business, but my personal opinion is they need to give the children a "real" life and bank what they've earned and invest wisely to provide the kids with a nice future.

:offtopic: I've been missing you on your TR, OhMari. I hope that you'll give us an update soon. I can't wait to hear more about the "other couple". :goodvibes

All right, everyone you may now return to JK+8!!!

Well, I imagine it's also a help, security-wise, to have the kids separated from a large crowd. A single celeb, couple or small family could probably easily throw on a hat and glasses, dress down, etc., but it's hard to hide that many kids. If anyone is truly worried about the kids, they should be fine with the fact that they are in a more controlled environment when at large public events.

True, but that completely illustrates the point that they've achieved celebrity status. How many families in America need body guards/security at events? That's the whole point, they're not relatable anymore and are SO recognized and popular that they require (for safety reasons I'm sure) security guards or special seating. I wish they'd stop the show, get normal jobs and then (like several people on this thread have suggested) do yearly updates. Like a documentary type thing. I'd totally watch that! Kate may say that there's no turning back but I respectfully disagree! She could drop the show and in time, people would be uninterested in all of her outings, etc. Give the kids a real childhood, you know? :goodvibes

Being relatable has no effect on security. That's an individual opinion that's different for every viewer. There are several aspects of the show I find relatable (first class trips, special activities like Thomas and the bouncy house, organization). There are also other aspects I don't (dogs, eight children at home, cooking).

The "no turning back" statement could be a personal thing. The family has lived and enjoyed the perks of celebrity. I can imagine that would be hard to ditch. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot of precedence for this. Child movie stars are quite a bit different than this situation. They're separated from their peers, away from home, taught by a tutor, etc. The Gosselins go to a regular school, are usually in the comfort of their own home, etc. I don't know a lot about the other reality families, but I don't think they've been on long enough to really see a pattern.

I was wondering that as well. It was a little weird to have the other "guys" there with Jon (not saying you can't have people over - just seemed weird). If you know there's someone there or you're worried about the paparrazi, don't hang out where they can see you from the road. Don't stand outside and make faces at them, just go back in the house. If they're on your property, ask them to leave. If they don't call the police. I guess it just seems easier to me.

As for the pictures from yesterday - she had two different shirts on so either they're not from the same day or she changed clothes at some point. If the little white box she's holding was the cake, that's just sad! Either everyone got a VERY tiny piece or it was only the 10 of them (still getting a tiny piece). No grocery store I've ever seen has the fancy chairs or spray tan sign that one had. :rolleyes1 It had to be something else in the box I would think. I also think it's really weird that if this is your first chance at home and you're leaving again later this week that you'd be at home every second you could with those kids before you had to leave again. Send the driver or body guard to get the cake for goodness sake! It's just sad. I would have loved to see a nice picture (or report) of her having a good time with the kids on Mother's Day and their birthday. And maybe they did have a wonderful day - you don't know when the pictures were taken....those poor kids. I so feel for them. I hope they had a great birthday and got to spend much needed time with their mom and dad.

My point in mentioning being relatable is that they're so high profile now they require security and most families don't have to deal with that. The charm of the show used to be the everyday normal things that lots of families also experienced. So yes, I'd think their security is a direct result of their relatable-ness (is that a word?!)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the no turning back being a personal thing? Can you elaborate?

Has anyone else been surprised at Kate's reaction to all this scandal? Being the fiery, out-spoken person she is, I assumed she'd be all over US Magazine demanding a retraction or at the very least, shooting down the rumors as false. Makes me think that Jon really did have an affair and Kate is trying to save face for the sake of the show. Come on, we've all seen her freak over a coupon, messy kids, or some other minor issue. Why is she so calm and robotic? :confused3

:lmao: Then she'd get slammed for "not getting her kids a birthday cake on her own!!"

I doubt the pictures are what they're described as. And for the person who said she looked unhappy (or something like that), how crazy would it look if she was walking around smiling at nothing? It's not like she's posing 24/7. Haven't you had the odd picture taken of you mid-sneeze or when you're concetrating on something? They're usually not too flattering.

Those guys may be friends. People always wondered where their friends/family were. They may decline to be on the show, but you can't really decline to have your picture taken from afar. Those guys look a lot older than Jon. Maybe he's overcompensating for hanging out with young girls by hanging out with old guys?

I did elaborate. It's a personal choice...now that they've lived the good life, there's no turning back. Not like it's literally impossible to go back (well, I suppose technically it is, but you get what I'm saying) to their "old life."
