The store managers are always like that. They want a sale and they are very hard on the consultants when they don't make a sale. Last year there was a consultant that they brought into their office several times to tell her how bad she was doing. She isn't on this year so I'm assuming she was let go. Personally, I think you can't force someone to buy something as important as a wedding dress if they are not ready or happy no matter how good of a salesperson you are.

Her hair looked really good last night. I don't understand that peacock style she usually goes for, but I remember when she was getting her hair cut on one episode, the stylist said something about how Kate liked it to really stand up in the back. :confused3

kate has made comments about her parents being overly restrictive and controlling when she was a kid so i'm wondering if the hair thing could be related to that. if she was raised in a conservative church like my dh was where there were strict controls on dress, makeup and jewlery she might have developed her sense of hair style out of a desire for rebellion on some level-it's not that uncommon. dh and i laugh at the photos of him and his friends back in the day, dressed very conservativly/girls without a lick of makeup on-but some of the most outrageous little tweaks to their hair styles. to this day you see women in that church who dress very conservativly, wear very little makeup-but if you look closely at their hair you can see the slightest hints of purple or magenta streaks and tips as well as some small variations in style that def. harken back to the more rebellious looks of the 80's and 90's:rotfl:

I moved almost 200 miles away to NY state after I graduated from college, and almost a year later, got engaged to my college sweetheart, who still lived back here in RI. We got married 5 months later, so I would just pop in to bridal shops when I had the chance after work, alone. One sister was very pregnant, my other was in California, and my mom and friends were in RI/MA. I did end up getting my dress in RI on a visit (big mistake, because fittings were very inconvenient), and had one sister with me, but otherwise I did a lot of planning for everything on my own. My bridesmaids were in California, Maine, Massachusetts and NJ...what a nightmare that was.

Haven't watched the Say Yes to the Dress episode yet, but have it TIVO'd. I'm a big fan of that show, and it turns out DH knows Ronnie, one of the owners. I hope that comes in handy someday...we have two DDs, 20 and 18!

I just watched it....Wow the bashers were completely off as usual. Kate never demanded that a designer combine 2 dresses.

Say Yes to the Dress
It's Always Something
TV-G

Shopping for a wedding dress is a challenge, especially for Kate Gosselin from TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8," who wants a dress for her renewal ceremony. But after Kate falls in love with two gowns, managers must convince a designer to turn 2 dresses into one

That was the description from before the show aired.

I got to meet Jon and Kate today at the Orlando Women's Show! They first did a thing on stage where they answered audience questions. The first thing Kate says when she sits down is,"guys can you chill with the cameras, I can't see anything!" Everyone was taking pictures of them when they came out and it seemed to really annoy her. They then answered a bunch of questions, I got to ask them one which was fun. Kate honestly seemed like she did not want to be there at all and was annoyed by the whole thing. At first a lot of her answers were one word answers and then Jon would add more but I think she started to warm up after a couple questions. Someone asked about jelly beans and she asked that people stop sending them. I guess after the episode in which they said they loved jelly beans, everyone started sending them. She also said that if she had known they would get this much attention from the show, they never would have done it. Someone asked about them moving and she said she would never tell where they were moving to.

After the questions, they moved to another area and signed autographs for the first 200 people in line. When we got to meet them, she was much more friendly and her and Jon joked around with us. It seemed like everyone in line was a little kid so I asked if we were the oldest people in line they had met and they laughed and said not at all. We made small talk about the weather, going to the theme parks with the twins (who were at the show but after seeing the size of the crowd did not want to go on stage) and some other things. Kate is beautiful in person, and Jon was very cute! Kate requested that no pictures be allowed so all I got were some pictures of them on stage.

I always thought people were really harsh with Kate but after seeing her today she is definitely a very "tough" person, not real warm but friendly enough. My friend I was with had another name for her after seeing her today, but since this is a family board and all!!!

Those two bolded sentences seem to contradict each other to me. If she was friendly when you met her why would your friend want to call her a name?

I thought that, too. Maybe her friend had her mind made up during the session. Or before?

Anyway, it's nice to read a somewhat positive encounter, even if it was short and in a professional (i.e., image-important) setting. Thanks for posting!

thanks for the report! I'm actually a little surprised she wasn't over the top excited to be there, since they're on a paid speaking schedule now.

Since this wasn't at a church, I assume there was no love offering.

Did they make any mention about the rumors or anything like that? I can't imagine they addressed anything at all like that, but did anyone even ask? What was your question?

Two new episodes on tonight. First one - Jon plays "Mr. Mom" (doesn't he already?;) )when Kate goes out of town for a few days; second episode - the twins prepare for 2nd grade and the sextuplets start pre-school.

Both sound good!:goodvibes

I'm confused... I thought I had understood that the episode a couple of weeks ago was to be the last before the vow renewal in Hawaii? That it's the kickoff for the new season? I can't remember where I read that ... but, I'm sure that I did. I guess it doesn't matter, really ... but there isn't much down time to build up anticipation for the new season/Hawaii episode. Someone must have decided that wasn't necessary.

Ok. I give up. Waving the white flag of surrender ....

This is the first morning I've actually had a chance to get caught up on JK8 reading outside of this thread and the PennMommy thing. OMG. Seriously? How many blogs ARE there now? For either side? Do these people not have anything better to do? Most of these blogs aren't even talking about Jon & Kate anymore, they're just having a ****ing contests with each other. There's no way to even try and understand what they're saying. Crazy. :lmao:

I'm confused too! I honestly don't know when one season ends and when the new one begins. I'm just reporting what my DVR is giving for the description of the shows tonite - and they are both marked as "new".:confused3

My TV guide (from the newspaper) has tonight's show description as
"Jon rules the roost." Yeah, right! :lmao:

I bet he was glad to be "allowed" to speak, for once.

something changed with the episodes - I can remember looking it up many, many pages ago (on the old thread) and it looked as though there was a break for about a month before the Hawaii show. Now, according to Wikipedia, we're well into season 4 with new episodes through the end of the month. So they filmed all summer into the Fall? wow.

Doesn't Jon do most of the work around the house, anyway? He has in the episodes I've seen.

Tonight's episodes look like they will be good. It looks like they have some shots inside the preschool. I hope that is only for tonight. IMO, they should not be filming during the school day. It's not fair to the kids, the teachers or the other students in the class. We'll see though.

It looks like they aren't breaking in between seasons. Next week there is one new episode listed (from the TLC site)
Jon & Kate Plus 8
Baseball Game with Daddy

It's a day of ballpark fun when the Gosselins are invited to a Phillies game by the manager. Jon takes the boys and Cara to see their first baseball game. After the game, they get to run around the bases, meet the mascot and even meet one of the players!

The following week the Hawaii episodes begin
Jon & Kate Plus 8
Prep for Hawaii
TV-G

Jon and Kate and all eight kids are off to see the beauty of Hawaii. But before they leave for the land of sun, there's much to be done! In addition to packing for a family ten, Kate must also find the perfect dress for her renewal of vows ceremony.

I absolutely agree. 100%.

why not all of the kids?

Maybe they're not all baseball fans? Or maybe it was special half the litter day?

If the school has any concept of learning, they won't allow the cameras in very often. That's not a JK issue. They can't control where they can film outside their own four walls.
