Or puts them off the trail completely. They could be moving to a completely different region than any of the locations shown.

absolutely. but the moving idea is out there. it's on the radar, now. wherever it is they decide to go ... someone will find them. that just is how it is.

Now that you're back, Madge, this thread is always on the "new posts" list in my subscriptions. :lmao:

I'm all caught up on this thread, and I'm heading out for the weekend ... nothing new from me for a few days ;)

if anything the whole 'pennmommy' thing makes me more critical of how ill advised continuing with the show in it's current format (regular series vs annual or less frequent update specials) is.

that one person would take the time and effort to create such an elaborate charade that includes representing (and perhaps truly perceiving) herself as an intimate to the family shows how the line has been crossed with a certain population where they can no longer reccognize that these children are reality not a made for t.v. fantasy (though some would say it is blurred through production and editing). fortunatly pennmommy apparantly never made any attempts to physicaly come in real contact with the family, but that's not to say that there are'nt lots of other mentaly unstable persons like her (or him? not sure it's ever been determined) who would take it that dangerous step further.

there is way too much information available on the family-people study those episodes scene by scene and can detail out the floor plans to their home, people know when the kids get on and off the school bus, following their speaking scheduals and know when the kids are traveling to venues or j&k are traveling alone, there are 'gosselin sighting' blogs devoted to reporting the names of places they frequent. it only takes one deluded crackpot who decides to 'rescue' the kids, punish j&k for what they perceive as their inappropriate parenting, or on the other side of the coin pursue what they perceive in their delusional mind as an already existing relationship (it's nice people send them gifts but when you are thanking them on the air even unnamed and then showing the kids wearing those cute matching t-shirts or backpacks that a viewer customized and sent in, some sick, sad, lonely people perceive that as creating a familial bond :sad2: ) and it's a horrendous tragedy. this does'nt even touch on truely predatory types that are seeing more of these children's intimate moments than most of us see of any children other than our own-that type of mind is not waiting for an opportunity they are counting on it.

unless those kids are going to be provided with 24/7 security in every place they go (as many of the celebs already do for their kids and claim to detest that despite their best efforts to keep their kids out of the limelite they have no choice because of whacko stalkers) i fear for them. there are too many sickos out there-pennmommy's damage seems to be limited to the extent of emotionaly messing with the minds of those who read her posts, it's the ones who are'nt posting their delusions that worry me much more.

I totally agree with this, and you said it much better than I could have. We know more about the Gosselins than we do about any other "celebrity" family. I probably know more about them than I do some of my own family members (cousins, etc). That's creepy! I've said it before- I really like my private life. I hope they are extremely careful whenever they go out. People are crazy!

It would have been smart for them to get a lawyer of their own before this all started. Of course, no one could have known how big they would be. Who knows, they could be contract-bound to do all these seasons. As non-show business people, they may have no idea what their rights are regarding the show.

You seem to be assuming they didn't have a lawyer when they started making the series...why? I don't think Jon and Kate are doing anything they don't want to do...you make it sound like they're contract-bound to do these shows, not that they want to. To say they have no idea what their rights are..seriously? They are intelligent people and I would assume the opposite, that they did in fact have a lawyer. I guess neither of us really knows, though...

Excellent post...I think both the extreme "fans" and the extreme "haters" are very frightening. (not like us here on the dis!) J & K have certainly opened their family up to a lot of potential issues by being on tv.

:::unexpectedly able to get online::::

There are references on other sites that Kate had intentions of "shopping" themselves around the networks. Now, I have no idea whether or not that's true or not ... but if it is and even if it isn't, I would think that they had thought things through enough to have contracts, etc. by a trusted lawyer of their own, not the production comapny or TLC.

My whole point earlier is that it appears from what we've seen on the show and heard in interviews that Jon & Kate don't have a relationship with anyone in their family. It also seems as if Beth & Bob are no longer in their lives. They've gone from booking their own speaking engagements and maintaining their website to be handled by a large PR firm. The TV people and PR firm are making money off JK8's success and may not have the family's best interest at heart. I would hope that they have someone they can trust not involved with the production of their product to advise them.

Do I seem to be assuming that? I'm simply posing hypotheticals as to how things could have been/be. I'm not assuming, nor stating as fact, anything. We all know what happens when you assume...

Ever think that some of the points the PP have made about the obsessed fans is another reason why they want to move? They've said they want to leave PA, get more land, etc. They probably want the more land so they can add security so that people won't be stopping by their house, talking to the kids, etc. Move out of state so that it will take the obsessed fans some time to figure out just where they are. I would hope that when they move they don't get away as much personal imformation that people can find them. There are obsessed crazy fans for almost any type of celebrity: athletes, actresses, actors, reality show personalities. Jon and Kate do need to think about the kids' safety and probably shouldn't reveal so much personal information about their location, where they are, etc.

given that they are having episodes that show where they are looking at houses and then speculating how rooms will be assigned (as far as production, cara & maddies, decks they can let the kids play on with visual supervision from the kitchen) i suspect if and when they move it will be featured on the show (maybe even a special) so it won't be any more secretive than now (and there are bloggers who were posting about what houses they were looking at and providing real estate links prior to the airing of the shows that featured these events).

unless they are going to move into an extreemly secured gated community i can't see that having more land would be a security benefit. i can attest from the aspect of moving in the last year and half from a subdivision (similar but not identical to the type the family lives in) to a private community of minimum 10 acre homesites (private road access) that this does not preclude the public from access or provide a greater sense of safey. having one's home accessable from a greater perimiter, unless it is totaly hard wired with security, only allows for more time for an uninvited person to wander around and familiarize themselves with the 'lay of the land' before you become aware of their presence. absent of a 24/7 manned security person at all potentialy accessable entry points a person living in an 'off the beaten track', secluded area is at a greater risk if for no other reason-the additional time that is required of law enforcement to respond.

Did anyone watch "Say Yes to the Dress" tonight? I kind of felt bad for Kate how the manager of the store came back after talking to the designer and bascially making her take that dress when I thought she seemed to like the other one a bit better. And I don't see how she wanted to combine two dresses, but just wanted the one altered a bit. I'm sure the bashers will find something to pick apart about it. Kate did look very nice.

I was listening to it while doing something else. All in all I thought the store manager was extremely pushy.

OT -- how about that fiance who was "helping" that bride pick her dress? He was so completely obnoxious, up and beyond telling her she looked like a fish. I would have strangled him.

Yeah, I thought the manager was a little bossy too.

I would have killed my family if they had acted like that. My DD15 and I were watching it and we couldn't believe how rude that man was being!

I thought Kate looked nice, No spiked hair!! :rotfl:

I love, love, love Say Yes To The Dress!

However, did anyone notice (I'm sure you did) Kate was completely alone? I don't think I've ever seen a bride choosing a dress without a friend, sister, mom, or even fiance'. Many "renewing vow" brides bring their kids. I wonder why she didn't have anyone with her? It seemed lonely.

I may not be a huge Kate fan, but I have to say she is very attractive. She looked lovely :goodvibes

I got the sense that it was something that needed to be done then. Maybe she didn't want to take the kids so that she could focus and make a decision.

I can certainly understand not bringing the little kids, I'm sure that would have been more stress than it is worth. But I think Maddy and Cara would probably have loved it. What girl wouldn't? I'm guessing she was out of town already and made Kleinfelds a stop along the way, or something along those lines. Even so, it seemed sad and lonely to be choosing a wedding dress all alone. :sad2:

I just watched it....Wow the bashers were completely off as usual. Kate never demanded that a designer combine 2 dresses. The first choice needed alterations because the top didn't fit correctly. She found another dress that she liked the skirt better and someone in the shop offered to have the skirt on the first dress altered so it was more like the 2nd one.
I guess the bashers must really hate the one girl that had the top of hers altered and still didn't like it. Oh wait, since her name isn't Kate it is OK to have a wedding dress altered.

Oh and does anyone know why they didn't origionally get married in Hawaii as was planned? I don't ever remember hearing that mentioned until it was said tonight.

As for it being sad and lonely, Why? Then again I never worried about the dress, both times I borrowed a dress.

Because it is a fun, happy, special time that most people want to share with the people they are close to. I will always treasure being there to share in the moment when my sister found her dress. I will never forget when she was zipped up and we all realized it was "the one." The smile on her face will never leave my memory. It was truly so special.

I realize that a renewal is a bit different from a actual wedding but it is still very special. Choosing the right dress is a big part of the day. Most people want to share that with someone.

Maybe she just isn't that kind of girl :confused3

I picked out my wedding dress for my second and only weding by myself (first marriage just went to courthouse so no dress). I just don't think that's such a big deal to someone in thier 30's with kids.

I forgot to watch it last night! I'm sure it will be on again this weekend.

By the way I never believed all the negative stuff that was written about them. I just didn't automatically NOT believe it like some on this thread. :)

The store managers are always like that. They want a sale and they are very hard on the consultants when they don't make a sale. Last year there was a consultant that they brought into their office several times to tell her how bad she was doing. She isn't on this year so I'm assuming she was let go. Personally, I think you can't force someone to buy something as important as a wedding dress if they are not ready or happy no matter how good of a salesperson you are.

Her hair looked really good last night. I don't understand that peacock style she usually goes for, but I remember when she was getting her hair cut on one episode, the stylist said something about how Kate liked it to really stand up in the back. :confused3
