The Jolly Holiday Salad and Tomato Basil soup sounds yum! I wonder if I can talk my daughter into the turkey sandwich (kid's menu) so we can eat there...

Oh, what a fun story! I'm so glad you got to be the very first customers...that's really neat. That menu...almost everything looks good to me, and I'm picky.

Ate there just around 5:30 today and watched some of the parade. The punch was good. The tomato soup was good as well, but ridiculously small for 5.49. The kids turkey sandwich was also very small, and a slice of turkey cold cut in a small bun. Nothing on it. At all. And my daughter's mac and cheese was a half-portion compared to other places we ate. My husband had the beef salad, and I just asked him how it was, and his answer was "it was OK" without much enthusiasm. Hopefully just some growing pains as it just opened.

We ate at the Village Haus less than a week after it brought out the new menu. It was AWFUL (really, really bad)!

But now I hear that people like the Village Haus, so maybe you are right about the growing pains.

It looks like they did a nice job on the restaurant. I think we'll have to try the Jolly Holiday Combo when we go in a few weeks! Maybe the Practically Perfect Punch too...just to say we did.

Its great that folks can visit with Oscar at the Jolly Holiday Bakery until the remodel of the Carnation Cafe is complete. It will be fun to chat with him once he moves back to his 'home' to see how he compares the two.

A visit to DL is not complete without a visit with Oscar.

when we were there (at the Carnation Cafe) in August chatting with him like we like to do, he told us he would be going on a holiday soon. when we were there 3 weeks ago, we asked him how his holiday was and he told us he and his wife did not get to go because she had gotten cancer and had just had her porta cath put in for the chemotherapy. We were very sad but I showed him I have mine in from my chemotherapy, and I am doing very well, and we talked about how treatment has advanced so much and wished him all the very best for her recovery. I hope and pray for them both that she is fairing well.
