Hi all

I'm considering joining Disney vacation club and have a question. I am going to pay a deposit and pay back over a few years and I'm wondering what would happen if i found after a while I could not keep up on the repayments and I stopped paying.
What would happen. I'm from Ireland and was in talking to them and very interested in it but this was one question I only thought about now when I'm home.

Since you are a foreign national, it may work differently, depending upon your local laws. DVC would likely repossess your timeshare (assuming you bought directly), or if buying a resale, which would probably be cheaper and more affordabe for you, it would depend upon how it was financed, and if that mortgage holder had any legal ties to a UK bank.

Honestly, if this is a true concern for you it is likely unwise to consider buying any timeshare, including DVC. However, there are cheaper timeshares out there than can "trade into" DVC through RCI...they may make more sense for you financial situation. And several may be pretty cheap through resale.

If you aren't sure you can afford this in the future, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

Don't forget, in addition to the re-payments on the initial purchase, there are annual dues, transportation to Orlando, park tickets, meals, etc. etc. etc.

The Mouse is one hungry rodent and expects to be fed well.

I have to agree. The purchase of points is really the cheapest part.

It's odd that you posted this here as in another thread, you said you were worried about entering the US because you already defaulted on your payments to DVC previously. Care to explain?

I thought I was the only one noticing that!
