I a very much a new member. Our family joined in 3/08. We have had many wonderful experiences in Disney World and the only regret was not joining DVC sooner. I must note that everyone is so gracious in welcoming new members in the forums. While everyone has been terrific to us new members, I get a sense that there is a concern that the product may somehow be diluted with the membership doubling in size over the last few years and if Disney will be able to keep up with demand. With new options coming on line like AKV and BLT, I don't think this will happen but I was wondering what others are thinking?

A lot of people see their options for getting into smaller resorts like BCV and WLV as dwindling, unless it is your home resort and can book at the 11-month window. However, if you follow the biggest tip always given on this board, "Buy where you want to stay," it shouldn't be an issue.

I personally don't see the increasing membership as a problem, because as long as DVC continues to grow, the more options we will all have.

Those at specific DVC resorts will need to become more diligent about booking during their priority window. The 7 month availability at specific resorts could become more difficult as more and more people are added to the system. and makes the advice of buying where you truly want to stay most often more impoartant. Other than that the impact of more and more resorts, will increase our possibilities, even if getting in at 7 months is more difficult. I think MK View at BLT and the Treehouses will probably be the most difficult to book room for home resort owners, even during the 11 month window.

Congrats on becoming a new owner! I think problems arise when people buy into a resort with no intention of staying there. Then when they can't make a reservation at 7 mos. at the resort they want to stay at, they question their membership.

Then there are certain times of the year that all the resorts totally book up (Oct. thru Dec. comes to mind). If you plan 11 mos. out, you won't have a problem. You may even get to switch to another resort at 7 mos. However, those members who can only plan 4-5 mos out may get shut out.

Are either of these problems? Not to me, but I bought where I want to stay (BWV) and I plan out most trips at 11 mos. For impromptu trips, I'm happy to stay wherever I can get reservation.

You see questions all the time about getting a GV at OKW at 7 months. Even now, this is a difficult because OKW members will book most of them before 7 months. With more non-OKW members competing for the GV (because of the lowest point requirement for any GV), it will be even more difficult.
