Join Us For Rich & Adrian's May 2009 WDW Adventure!

Hi Vanessa -

Really? That's cool. I'll be arriving on the 12th. What time is the launch?

I'm actually planning on renting a car to go to KSC during the trip... noticed the launch is set for the 12th but if NASA stays true to form it might get delayed :rolleyes1 so I'm hoping to see it up close ;)

-Ken

True! I believe right now the launch time is still 'to be determined'.:rotfl: How far is the KSC from WDW?

It took me ~45 minutes from DTD to KSC this past Feb., hardest part was finding loose change and cash for the tolls :p

Looks like launch time is tentatively scheduled for 1:31pm, launch tickets go on sale tomorrow... regular viewing from the visitor center is $38+shipping, premium viewing tickets are sold out @ the KSC store but look to be available from two touring companies starting at $115 (ugh.) But, to be 6 miles away from the launch pad... decisions, decisions.

Either way, I'm arriving on the 13th and planning on going over on the 14th since I've got an annual pass (returning the car on the 15th)... think I'll give a call tomorrow to see if it gets me a discount on the regular launch tickets.

Anyone interested in a field trip? :)

-Ken

Hey, I got our DME pkt. Now the trip seems close!:cool1:

Only thing is I also got an email from AirTran notifying me that they had pushed my flight home back by a little over 2 hours. Instead of getting home a little after seven, I am now not getting home until 9:23pm on the 16th. Mark is picking me up at the airport that night. He is not going to like the new time, but hey it gives me another couple of hours in Disney. lol

I'm going to call them this morning, and try not to be a New Yorker! LOL. counting the days can't wait to see y'all.

As for Air Tran, they do not service MCO non-stop from the northeast. we have wonderful flights on Southwest, we have never used them before, any thoughts on their service, I remember speaking with Jamie from TX, she was in our last years group, she loves Southwest!

I was telling Adrian :lovestruc that Delta used to have the best non-stop flights from Hartford to Orlando (leave BDL at 7 AM and get to MCO at 10 AM), but for some reason, on this trip Southwest was a lot better. :confused3

(I was just looking through a book about the history of airlines :teacher:- did you know that when Southwest started in 1971 - the same year as WDW BTW - the stewardesses all wore hot pants :3dglasses and go go boots?)

PS This thread :surfweb:is now on Page 20! :rotfl::wizard:

Good morning everyone!

I also got my DME packet in the mail yesterday :cool1: Very exciting.:banana:

I wouldn't be concerned yet. Give them a few days.

The only airlines that fly direct from DFW to Orlando are AirTran and American Airlines. I live right outside of Dallas, but Jamie lives down in south Texas, where Southwest can fly direct. Unfortunately when the DFW airport opened up years ago, Southwest didn't want to participate, so agreed to stay over at Dallas Lovefield Airport and signed something called the Wright amendment that only allows Southwest to fly direct to states that directly adjoin Texas. Otherwise they must fly with a layover (usually Houston or New Orleans if you fly to Orlando). You must also pay for each leg of the trip separately, so Southwest rounds up being more expensive for us to fly than either Airtran or AA (unless we are flying to LA, Ark, Oklahoma, or NM). Consequently we never fly them.

Hi Adrian -

I was concerned too because I hadn't gotten anything so I called this morning to find out when I would be receiving my package info.

The CM asked if I had paid off my balance and I told her that I had. She then told me that my vouchers were printed on March 31 and that I should expect to receive them by next Friday :banana:

That's great news Angela, I'm really missing no having 'anything' before I get to the resort, but I've got my confirmation so that's the main thing :thumbsup2

I've been fiddling around with my itinerary to factor in some lovely 'me' time relaxing at my resort, can't wait to meet you all. :goodvibes

I don't understand why Disney don't send package info to their guests in the UK :confused3 But like you said you have your confirmation and that's what really counts!

Good morning everyone!

I have finished my itinerary (at least for now :) ) and I have posted it in my PTR.

If you would like to take a look, the link to my PTR is in my signature.

I'm so excited! According to my ticker, I've got 1 month, 1 week and 1 day until my 1st solo trip to WDW to celebrate my 41st birthday! :woohoo: :yay:  :cool1:

I hope everyone has a great weekend! :flower3:

Can't wait to ride Expedition Everest again, Rick said he is going to try it this year, but I might need a partner to ride the Mad Hatters Tea Party, LOL, counting the days now!!!!

Sorry, Adrian I can't help you. I can not ride the Tea Cups. I get dizzy just looking at them :faint:

Vanessa,

Last September the lines were great, we hardly waited, what do you think the crowds and lines are going to be like in may?

Adrian...I'll ride the tea cups with you....it's one of my favorite rides...:thumbsup2

 Angela...we are going to have to much fun.

BTW I read you PTR, it awesome. :thumbsup2 Your worried about leaving two boys home alone. I'm leaving my 24 yr son home alone for 12 days, what was I thinking. :scared1: But I"m not going to let that ruin my vacation. He's been home alone many of times because work has me traveling a lot.
