did anybody else love him. I remember having a bit of a crush on him, must have been junior high, since in high school I went for heavy metal rockers. I heard a song of his on a television show recently and I started looking up some of his music. It is so sad that he is gone.

Oh my yes. Several years ago. He died doing something he loved. Flying his own small plane. The sad thing is that there were rumours of alcohol at the time.

I work with someone who loves his music. He was at his height of popularity when I was younger, so I never could appreciate how great he was. I watched the movie about him not long ago and was so saddened that he can no longer write his beautiful music.

John Denver was flying an experimental aircraft and some of the controls were in non-standard locations. It is believed that he had some sort of trouble with the plane and, as he fumbled to correct it, the plane tumbled out of the sky and into the Pacific Ocean.

He was such a talent. I continue to enjoy his music and wish that he were around to make more music for us.

I have one of his CDs. My kids love it. They don't know he's not considered "cool". ;)

Oh yes, I really liked his music & I remember hearing the sad news when he died.:(

I love his music and have all of his CD's. I was very saddened when we lost him..

The only fan letter I ever wrote was to John Denver, I was about 8 or 9 & I was thrilled to receive an autographed picture from him in the mail:D I loved 'Grandma's Feather Bed' among others when I was a kid:D And as far as I'm concerned 'Annie's Song' is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.

I really liked John Denver. Sad that he is gone. I sing some of his songs to my DS as I rock him to sleep.

I did like John Denver and got to see him live in Providence RI.. what a show he put on.........you could hear a pin drop when he sang Annie's Song.....and he also did a great job in the movies he was in.......a true entertainer..

I loved John Denver! Loved his mild and wonderful way with lyrics!

I had a chance to meet him once when he visited my station about 10 years ago. He looked like a little kid! Very humble, very kind, I remember he was dressed in a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt and looked like a high school kid. I was very saddened when I heard of his death. :(

I loved his music too. He had a somewhat personal connection too. His ex-wife Annie (of Annie's Song) lived near us growing up, and we used to see him driving around Prior Lake in his Benz occationally.

You betcha! :)

I also adored John Denver, my favorite song of his "Looking for Space":

And I'm looking for space
And I'm looking to know and understand
It's a sweet, sweet dream
Sometimes I'm almost there
Sometimes I fly like an eagle
And sometimes I'm deep in despair

:)

He is missed, for sure. I still listen to his music when I paint, I find the lyrics and the soft melody inspire me creatively. :)

He was always one of my favorites, both as a teenager and as an adult.

He had a lot of problems though. Such a shame for someone so talented.

I was devasted at his death and truly miss his music.

I love John Denver....I'm too young to have experienced it when he was at the height of his fame but I do really love it. Poems, Prayers and Promises is a great song....I also love Calypso. John Denver has made me ask for a guitar and try to learn how to play it.

John Denver was great - I loved his music - found it to be very soothing and peaceful - my kids first heard and liked his music when he did the very early Muppets Christmas Special back in the 80s.

I am a huge John Denver fan. I probably have all of his songs, although some of his later ones I didn't care for as much as his earlier stuff. The day he died, I sat down and cried. I got to see him in concert one time and didn't want the night to end. He had such a beautiful voice. Gotta play some cd's today.

Yeah I think I'll play some cd's of his today too. I work with toddlers at a childcare center and I sometimes play John Denver and they love it!

This reminded me of something my old boss told us once.... Her brother was a carpenter in the town where John and his wife Annie lived. Towards the latter part of their marriage, they were known for having real knock-down drag-out fights. One day my boss' brother got called to their house to do some repair work. Seems John was upset at Annie for some reason and took a chainsaw to their kitchen cabinets.
